Downgrading From Professional To Home Premium?

Mar 24, 2011

I have installed Professional but the key I purchased is a dud. It was a MAC key but when I types it in it turns out it has already been used. I had no luck getting a valid one from the seller. It turns out I only really need Home Premium. If I buy a Home Premium one and authorize with that will it work. The reason I don't want to reinstall is I am using Bootcamp on a Mac Pro and I have to mess around a lot to get it working.

Downgrading From Enterprise To Home Premium

Jan 21, 2011

I recently purchased a used computer at a very low price. On it was an installation of Windows 7. All seemed to be fine. I cleared out all the old junk, cookies, registry etc. Now I get a window error saying the computer can not verify my copy of Windows Enterprise and I should check with my IT department. I am a single home user with Windows 7 Home Premium on my other pc. I spoke with a local computer store and they said it sounds like the previous owner put a "bootleg" copy of Windows 7 Enterprise on the hard drive. Can I downgrade the Illegal Enterprise edition to my legitimate copy of Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade without losing all the programs and stuff I spent the last week installing on the new used pc?

Downgrading Windows 7 Pro To Home Premium?

Nov 21, 2010

PC#1 already has Win7 Pro installed on it.I'm building PC#2 and have bought Win7 Home Premium.I want Pro on PC#2, and Home Prem on PC#1. Both OS's are retail box versions, not OEM.I want to downgrade PC#1 from Win7 Pro to Win7 Home Premium without reinstalling. I figure I can change the key on PC#1 to the Home Prem key, so I can use the Pro key on PC#2. Is this as stupid as I think it is? (I won't be offended if you say yes)

Downgrading From Ultimate To Home Premium?

Jan 29, 2012

I was using a licensed version OS win7 ultimate on my old system. Now after upgrading the system (mobo, processor changed) it prompts me to purchase a new product key. I found that after a major up gradation using the the same product key violates the user end agreement and so I left it there and I purchased a Home premium .( Somebody suggested to convince MS about the up garadation but didn't try it)

Now in the new sys win 7 ultimate sp1 is running and i have to change the product key within 30 days. My query is- Can I downgrade to Home premuim without a clean install?

Downgrading Windows 7 Ultimate To Windows 7 Home Premium

Sep 15, 2012

I am doing it because my brother had his computer worked on by our Nephew, and he went from XP to 7 ultimate with a hacked copy of 7 ultimate. I have done a fresh install, but it keeps starting and reverting back to Ultimate, The kicker os that I can go to KEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersion and see windows 7 home premium as the operating system with no CD product ID. I'll add the product key, and go to regiser it but it won't let me activate it. The thing I have an issue with is that even after a fresh install, it starts up and says windows 7 ultimate.

Install Home Premium On Laptop And Professional On Pc

Dec 28, 2009

I have a little while ago build up my pc,

and bought a new system development package of win. vista home premium 64 bit.

with in my foresight i had the new 7 totally for free.

Then i got my win 7 home premium, formatted my system and installed the upgrade just fine as a clean installation.

But in home premium are some features you have in the ultimate or professional version disabled, and some of these features i just want to use.

now i do the education on school for IT, and my school has given me a msdnaa account.

Now on that msndnaa account where i can download windows 7 professional.

My question is:

Now i want to install the home premium on my laptop, and the on my pc

can i install the home premium which is of course already activated on my pc, can i install it on my laptop. i don't need a explanation of how i install a os, cause i already know such things.

Upgrade New PC From Windows 7 Home Premium To Professional?

Dec 21, 2011

I bought Windows 7 Professional and installed it on my computer. Recently, that computer died unexpectedly and I bought a new one that came with Windows 7 Home Premium installed on it. Since getting a new computer was unexpected, there were things I needed to get installed right away, so I just started installing it on the version of the OS that was already installed on the new PC. Now that I have a moment to go back and upgrade it to 7 Pro to take advantage of the features I want/need, this is appearing to not be an option, or at least not an easy one. The only options I'm seeing are to do a full reinstall or to do a Windows Anytime Upgrade which requires a separate license key. I have enough software installed now I really don't want to have to reinstall the entire machine again. Plus there were some applications that came for "free" on the new PC that I'd like to keep, but reinstalling would mean that keeping those apps also was not an option. And it seems stupid that I'd have to buy an upgrade when key when I have a full version of what I want to go to. Is my full version DVD of 7 Pro a paper weight now?

Upgrading From Windows 7 Home Premium To Professional?

Oct 6, 2012

I just did a clean install of Win 7 Home and everything went smoothly but I have 32 gigs installed and it shows 32 but says only 16 are available. I am told this is directly because of a limitation in Win 7 home. so I have two questions:

1) is their anyway to modify Win 7 home so I can access all 32 gigs? 2) if I use an anytime upgrade to Win 7 pro will there be any issues? I have read that upgrades sometimes have unpredictable results, will that be likely even though I have a clean install? so far the only software loaded is a handful of drivers for the hardware.

Downgrade: Change Windows 7 Ultimate To Home Premium Or Professional

Oct 10, 2009

If you have installed a preview version of Windows 7 Ultimate (e.g. beta, release candidate build 7100 or RTM build 7600) and want to install a cheaper version of Windows 7 Home Premium or Professional the installation is normally refused.

But with change of a registry key whilst installation you can fake a minor version - so you can install Home Premium or Professional over existing Windows 7 Ultimate.

Installing Institution-avail Windows Professional Over Home Premium

There is no "product key" that I can find, unless it is somewhere on the DVD embedded in another file.

Downgrading From Windows 7 Enterprise To Professional

Jul 16, 2012

I have a computer that is to be decommissioned here at the office, which is to say that it will no longer be used for work. The computer is to be given to a local school. The problem now is that it has been running Windows 7 Enterprise, and the license will expire in a few months. According to this site, [URL], Enterprise can be downgraded into Professional. However I can't seem to find a way to do this. Is this a free service, or do I have to purchase the license again? Customers licensed for use of Windows 7 Enterprise are generally licensed for Windows 7 Professional, which can be downgraded to Windows Vista Business, Windows XP Professional, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows NT 4.0, Windows NT 3.51, Windows 98, or Windows 95 operating system. You would not, however, be able to downgrade to Windows 7 Home Basic or Windows 7 Home Premium, or other consumer (Full Packaged Product - FPP) versions of Windows as they are different product editions and not prior versions of Windows 7 Professional.I have a legitimate Win 7-Ultimate license on my own computer, but I do not have the install CD for it (at the moment).

Cant Upgrade From Vista Home Premium To 7 Home Premium

Oct 22, 2009

I successfully bought the upgrade version of Windows 7 Home Premium N, downloaded and extracted it and now I want to install it.

When I choose UPDATE in the intallation dialog it tells me that I cannot upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium ???

Every website from Windows and other people tells me that it IS possible and even the Windows 7 Update Advisor told me that I should not encounter any problems upgrading.

Has anyone of you yet encountered upgrading problems of compatible Vista/7 versions?

Or any other idea what I can do to solve the problem?!

I know that I can make a clean intall of 7, but this would be a pain..
