Disabling Language Bar Via Registry
Because my locale is Portugal, the language bar appears on the taskbar. This is something my enterprise didn't want, so I needed to disable it for all user.
For this to work you'll need to:
.: Navigate to [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftCTFLangBar]
.: If LangBar key doesn’t exist, create it
.: Inside LangBar create a new DWORD called “ShowStatus"
.: Set the ShowStatus value to 3
Of course that to apply this to all users, you should create a script (ex.: vbscript) loading the Default User hive.

Disabling Title Bar Transparency For One Program
I have two applications. One is a game, another is a helper (sadly, not updated any longer). The helper program modifies the title bar of the game with some stats. It displays correctly in XP, when I have Aero turned off and when I have clicked "Disable Desktop Composition" in compatibility, but not when Aero is running. I'd like to disable aero (or just the titlebar transparency) for only this program but keep Aero running for everything else, is that possible?

Disabling A Specific Action Center Message Via Script Or Registry Key
We've already begun our deployment of Windows 7 RTM and would like to automate the disabling of the "Windows Backup" (and only) messages in the Action Center. After poking around on Google and other such places where I'd normally find how to script this, or a registry key I can modify, I can't find anything on this.Does anyone know how to do this, or can point me to a resource that explains where settings for Action Center are stored that can be modified?

2-3 Secs Random Freeze, Language Bar Issue
I'm experiencing a strange problem. Windows 7 hangs up for 2-3 seconds every 20-30 secs. This started to occur three/four weeks ago. Interestingly this behaviour occurs after I leave the PC unattended for 4-5 hours. If I reboot it's gone (for 4-5 hours). When it freezes and I am writing in that very moment in a textfield, word or whatever, it remembers the keystrokes. However, Internet Explorer hangs, Outlook hangs, Explorer freezes, firefox freezes, I can't even open the control panel during that time (the start menu is mysteriously working). Freezing meaning: opening menus, selecting buttons not possible or sometimes the application turns white (Not responding behaviour). If I monitor performance with resource monitor, neither CPU nor disk nor network shows activity. I do not even see any anormal activities in the eventlog. I saw some more activity of the Windows Search Host recently.

Disabling Device Driver Signing
I have just purchased and Eye-One Display2 to calibrate my monitor. My operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I have successfully downloaded the software. However when I try to connect the Eye-One Display 2 via the USB. My system does not recognize the drivers. I have been able to work around this by pressing F8 during start up and selecting Disable Device Drivers Signing. This has also enabled me to upgrade the device drivers via the Device Manager and to successfully calibrate my monitor. However when I want to connect again, I have to go through the F8>Disable Devise Driver Signing process as my system does not recognize the Display 2 driver. Is there a way of disabling device driver signing permanently instead of having go through the boot up procedure each time I want to calibrate my monitor. I should add that I have contacted the support service at Eye-One.

Disabling Alt + Tab Screen?
I've been trying for hours now to disable the alt+tab screen. I want to record a sequence of keystrokes, I want to be able to record ctrl+alt+tab, but whenever I press the keys, the alt-tab screen comes up so the buttons won't get recorded. I also have to record them in the actual order, I can't move them around so basically: I need to be able to press ctrl+alt+tab without bringing up the swtich screen. I need to record theese keys in order. Is there something I can change, maybe in the registry? Is it possible to change the hotkeys in windows? So that ctrl+alt+tab does nothing, and then switch it back after I've recorded the keystrokes?

Disabling The Application Compatibility Assistant
Disabling the Application Compatibility Assistant (the rights and wrongs) Firstly see this for reference. I decided to disable the ACA so it would not arbitrarily automatically set some compatibility mode on the program again. What would be the repercussions of doing this apart from the obvious inability of windows not to be able to run a program. Then again surely if a program cant run in the latest greatest version of windows, its time it was either updated or replaced?

Finding / Enabling / Disabling Programs In StartUp Menu
Tonight, I upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium from Windows Vista Home Premium. One of the features that I found very useful in Vista was a section that listed all of the various programs that were running automatically upon start-up, along with options to either enable or disable them from running on start-up. I cannot find this feature anywhere in Windows 7 Home Premium. Can someone enlighten me, please?

Mouse / Registry Issue
I should have written this one down as I recall it was a registry tweak. The tweak was to allow the mouse to hover over an object (say as in the Start Menu) and the folder immediately. It was basically changing the delay time to about immediate. Except I did not write it down and now I am not as thrilled as I first was. Yes, I should have written spot in the registry where I found it. Any one have any idea how to undo?

Always Combine Icons Via Registry
I'm using a brand new installation of Windows 7 (in a commercial environment) and for some reason the icons in the taskbar dont combine if I have more than one instance of any application open. I've found the 'TASKBAR BUTTONS' option under 'TASKBAR APPEARANCE' in PROPERTIES to change this, but it appears to be unavailable. So two questions: 1) Can anyone suggest why this option may be grayed out for me? 2) Does anyone know where in the registry I can turn on the 'Always Combine' option.

Registry Hidden Keys
When I open regedit.exe and go to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\NlaSvc not all existing keys are shown. In fact these invisible or virtualized keys are only shown when opening regedit.exe with the Run as administrator option. What's the mechanism behind this?

I don't have DVD burner so I don't have the option of burning the .iso to a DVD. I tried setting up a different partition through 'Partition Magic' but was not able to.

BSOD: Registry Error 0x00000051
When i restart my system it may, randomly, give me a nice BSOD: REGISTRY_ERROR 0x00000051 This happened on Windows 7 for 1st time. I've never seen it again before.. I've seen it yesterday after windows installation when it tried to start up. The weird thing is that when this BSOD occurs it will not boot unless i press F8 and select another boot option, any other than "normal startup". Even the "boot logger" or "dont restart on bsod". Any ideas?

Error Accessing The OLE Registry
Using RTM Windows 7 64 bit. I have been trying to register a com plus component but have been getting nowhere fast. I have tried via the Component Services gui and via the regsvcs command line tool. The error I am getting is the the following: regsvcs c:ComponentsMyComponent.dll Microsoft (R) .NET Framework Services Installation Utility Version 2.0.50727.492 7 Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. The following installation error occurred: 1: Failed to generate type library 'c:ComponentsMyComponent.tlb' for 'MyComponent, Version=3.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=fa819fa4631e9f24'. 2: Failed to register type library 'c:ComponentsMyComponent.tlb'. 3: Error accessing the OLE registry. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8002801C (TYPE_E_REGISTRYACCESS)) I have tried running the command as my normal user, running it by "Run as administrator", turning UAC completely off and running, and every combination I could think of. If I knew the registry sections getting the permission denied I would give full permissions to it. I have tried using SysInternals procmon to find where the registry was getting denied but have not come up with anything.
