View 1 Replies View RelatedIf your trying to change a bios setting or Reformat any of the newer Dell Laptop's you may run into this issue! There is an Administrator password you will be prompted for. I believe this is created at the factory and unplugging the bios battery no longer does the trick! I tried many different passwords combos and found that:<dell> all lowercase and minus the brackets works for a few of the newer Dell Laptops

View 1 Replies View Relatedi have a dell inspiron 1545 3gb ram , 160gb hard , 32bit operation system
i had windows vista home premium installed in ma system but i didn't like it so i installed windows 7 32bit in my system , it works fine but most of my laptop's functions wont work on it , like when i turn down my laptop's volume it doesn't show me in the display but it works , same with the brightness and wlan switch button, they all work perfectly fine but without any screen display , it used to come with the display on windows vista and i had a webcam studio installed in ma laptop with windows vista that allowed me to take pictures and record videos through ma webcam and save them on my pc ,
does windows 7 has any webcam software like this ? one more thing ,my webcam wont work with my msn live messenger, i works fine with yahoo messenger or on facebook an Internet ,when i try it on my msn it says'' messenger's not ready for webcam try again later' i tried everything uninstalling webcam driver and msn messenger but nothing worked.

How do i restore my dell inspiron 1545 to factory settings using my windows 7 disc??
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a standard Dell 1545 Inspiron laptop running vista with Intel duo core processor and 4gb ram. Is it a straightforward process to upgrade to windows seven? If I get the windows seven installation disc can I do a clean install or are there any Dell bits and pieces to stop me doing this? Will I need any other drivers etc after the install?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAbout a week ago, I was stricken with a BSOD, can't remember the error code. After that, the computer ran like crap. Even in Safe Mode, it ran like crap, constant freezing after about a minute after boot up. I did a little research and found that registry errors can be responsible for this, so I ran a couple different registry cleaners and it seemed to have done the trick. A couple days later, it went back to running like crap.I did a complete reinstall of Windows 7, and still runs like crap.Every time I boot up in normal mode, after about five minutes, the computer freezes up. The mouse pointer still moves, but is unresponsive to function changes. Meaning, the pointer doesn't change from arrow to hand to I-beam, etc., and clicking does nothing. I don't even get the "(Not Responding)" tag in the title bar of the software. Ctrl+Alt+Del does next to nothing. The best result I get from it is a blank, black screen, and I have to shut down manually by holding down the power button, which is the case 100% of the time, black screen or not.The computer runs perfectly fine in Safe Mode with Networking. I'm writing this post on it right now.Someone suggested I remove one RAM stick at a time and test the computer with one RAM stick in, changing it from one slot to the next, then testing the other stick. Did that. No results.
View 6 Replies View RelatedOK so I have tried deleting the touchpad in device manager and removing the driver, and reinstalling the device from scratch. When this didn't work I thought there must be a problem with the touchpad itself and so bought a new one and installed it. Problem is it still doesn't work.If I go into device manager and look for it I have to show hidden devices and then it comes up with the yellow triangle next to it.I show properties on it and it says its the Dell Touchpad, Manufacturer is Alps Electronics, and its plugged into the PS/2 mouse port.In the Device Status box it says:This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)The Driver date is 02/05/2010 and the version is 7.1107.115.102I have also noticed that on the details tab under power data the current power state is D3, which I believe is off.Something else I have noticed which may or may not be related is that the laptop doesn't enter sleep mode when the lid is closed, altho it is set to and will enter sleep if I select it in the shutdown options.
