Dell Inspiron E1505 Synaptics Touchpad Drivers
I have just installed a brand new genuine Windows 7 Professional. (Yeepee).
now thanks to this wonderful forum i'll try the Radeon x1400 driver posted here. (Hopefully I have the x1400 and not the x1300)...
Now,
i'm missing the Synaptics Touchpad drivers so I can't scroll anything.
do you think the Vista 32 bit drivers on the Dell website should work?

Dell Inspiron 1526 Touchpad Drivers And Problems
I am aware that there is another thread relating to scrolling issues that includes some of the problem that I am having but it does not solve all my questions. I am running Windows 7 64 bit on my Dell Inspiron 1526. However my touchpad does not have it's same functionality. The scroll does not work and I cannot disable it. In Vista 32 my touchpad used to disable automatically when I plugged in a mouse. I found an ALPS driver (from the previous thread) that enables me to scroll without bugs but it does not let me modify my touchpad in anyway. I also found a Synaptics driver that lets me disable my touchpad manually, but it will not scroll. My touchpad is not actually recognized as a touchpad but as a "Standard Pointing Device". I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a driver that would grant me the same functionality that I had in Vista 32 or at least let my touchpad actually be recognized on my computer. It is rather annoying constantly having to switch drivers.

Upgrade On Dell Inspiron E1505
I succesfully created a Windows 7 RC installation DVD using my Roxio DVD Creator 6 and started using it to load Windows 7 on my Dell Inspiron E1505, which currently has Vista Home Basic on it. As I went through the installation steps (which seemed to be acting fine) I selected "Upgrade" rather than "Custom", and the process proceded OK. However, when it finished, it displayed a blue screen which stated "The upgrade was not successfly. Your previous version is being restored. Do not restart your computer during this time". Then it proceeded to go through a startup, displaying the black BIOS screen, then a black screen which showed it was selecting "Windows Setup Rollback", and then a black Microsoft screen stating "Starting Windows". Then it cycles through these screen again and again, and continues to do so until I push the start/stop button. If I restart it, it continues to go through this cycle. Help!, what do I do next! After reading through a few forum questions, I see that I probably should have select Custom rather than Upgrade, so I'll do that next time. However, I can't do anything with my PC until I can get it to work again.Â

Dell Touchpad - Synaptics
I just installed Windows 7 Build 7600 and I am trying to get the touchpad scrolling to work on my Dell Inspiron 1420. I installed the synaptics drivers from their website (v10.1.8 x64) but when I go to mouse properties and click the synaptics tab it only allows me to configure the right and left click buttons. How can I configure the scrolling of my touchpad? I NEED it! Also are there any iTunes guru's out there? I have my library all setup on my vista partition. Is there anyway I can get my library/playlists on the Windows 7 side. I don't want 2 copies of my music, I want it to all link to the files on the vista partition but I have a feeling I will have trouble either getting the playlists in or trying to gain access to those files on that partition.

Synaptics Touchpad Drivers
I installed Windows 7 on my laptop, and let it use the default drivers in most cases. The downside is that I lost the scroll functionality on my touchpad, which I can't see to get back any other way than using the Synaptics software. The drivers I have on CD are quite old, but the ones from the Synaptics website seem to work fine (plus there are 32 bit and 64 bit editions): http://www.synaptics.com/support/drivers

Problem With Synaptics Touchpad
I have installed the Synaptics Touchpad driver onto my new W7 install. All is working as it should, however I have a very minor problem. Whenever I logon, I am asked whether or not to run the SynTPEnh.exe process (this is the tray icon). I was never asked in Vista whether or not to run the process, and in W7 I will always want to run it. How do I get around this minor problem, and set it that it runs by default?

Synaptics Touchpad Enhanced Features With Win 7 RC
After upgrading from Windows 7 beta to Windows 7 RC I am finding the enhanced features of Synaptics Touchpad disabled, not available, simply not there. After each and every new laptop purchase and each return to zero installation the first feature I routinely engage is Tap and Drag, available only under the Enhanced features settings. I am so finicky about this feature I went straight for it on my company issue in the competitor's UltraNav. I am operating a Toshiba Satellite which was bundled with Vista Home edition. Enhanced features were operable there. I performed an upgrade to Windows 7 beta (OS overwrite, not fresh install) for the testing. Enhanced features were operable there. Once I moved to 7 RC no enhanced features can be found under Settings. I have reviewed the Synaptics Consumer tips page. The symptom they describe that most closely resembles my problem has two suggestions. The first did not work and the second was not valid. The first suggestion resulted in simply uninstalling the driver and reinstalling the latest driver. No joy. I downloaded the current drivers from the Toshiba support site relevant to this model and did the uninstall/install thing. No joy. I have experimented with much older versions of the drivers for Vista from CNET's Download site. No joy. I have installed both 32 and 64 bit versions of 7 RC. Still no joy. I uncovered a site that appears to have drivers newer than the Synaptics site. After downloading and carefully scanning with anti-virus still no joy. I am currently back on 10.1.8.0. I have attempted to remove the device and rescanning to reinstall the device. For giggles I even tried loading old XP drivers only to end up at the same GUI...general settings, no enhancements. Now that you know I'm not afraid of a little work I would entertain any suggestions. I got a sinking feeling when I saw the big question mark on the Microsoft's compatibility page. Tough it out for a while and hope for a change in status?

Acer Aspire 6530 Synaptics Touchpad Driver
I have recently purchased an Acer Aspire 6530 laptop, which comes shipped with Windows Vista x86. I promptly made the restore DVDs, and installed Windows 7 x64, with no issues, except, one rather important one: the TouchPad driver does not work. When Windows first booted, the driver that comes with Windows worked fine. You did not get the scroll functionality from the side of the pad, which is meant to act like a scroll, but it recognized movement and the two click buttons. After getting on the Internet, Windows automatically went out and found the Synaptics TouchPad driver for me. Now, according to Device Manager, the driver will function after a restart. TouchPad works fine, go to restart, driver is applied, and.. nothing. The mouse will not move. Any USB mouse if plugged in works fine, but the click buttons and the movement on the pad do nothing. If you go into Device Manage and uninstall the device, the TouchPad works again! It seems whatever TouchPad drivers that are loaded with Windows 7 work like a charm, besides the built in scroll area, work wonderfully, but the driver that it automatically downloads/installs on boot does not after restarting and applying that driver, even though the device is fully functional according to Device Manager. Is there any way to FORCE the built in Windows 7 drivers, or a known fix to get the normal ones to work? Does this have to do with 64bit vs 32bit at all? Note: I have downloaded the driver from the Acer website for Vista and ran it in compatibility mode for Vista, with no change, so it is not just the one Win is automatically finding. Note2: I tried booting without any internet connection after disabling the driver, but Windows went ahead and installed the driver anyway. It was either still downloaded, or in fact comes with 7 and is not gotten through Windows Update, but is not installed initially? Plug and play is weird sometimes =/.

Toshiba L305D-S5934 Synaptics Touchpad Issues
I have a Toshiba L305D-S5934 Laptop with an AMD Turion X2 Dual Core Processor, it has a Synaptics touchpad as do most laptops these days and I have run into the following problems: I am running Windows 7 RC Build 7100 (an official download not a torrent download) and my Synaptics Touchpad shows up as a PS2 compatible mouse in device manager. If I download the drivers that come through Windows Update they seem to work fine untill I reboot my system, at reboot just after the Windows 7 splash screen, she blue screens with a memory dump going to somewhere and then does an automatic restart, if I attempt to start windows normally after the restart she bluescreens again with the same results, and this will go on time and time again until I either go into safe mode and remove the Synaptics driver or let startup repair do its thing or do a system restore, all of which leaves me with a Synaptics Touchpad with erratic behavior, that loses its scrolling functionality, and is hypersensitive almost to the point that I can't type much of anything without the cursor jumping around all over the place and relocating like it has a mind of its own. Now Toshiba has something called Toshiba's Value Added Package (not much value there for 64 bit systems it seems this thing was a pain in Vista x64 and it is more of a pain in Windows 7 x64) I will not install the Value added Package until I am convinced t hat Toshiba or whoever makes it gives a rat's rear-end about 64 bit systems and Windows 7 the last time I tried to install it gave all kinds of problems and produced some blue screens of its own I believe. The Value Added Package however includes Toshiba's Flash Cards Utility that makes the Fn key work and gives access to disabling the Synaptics touchpad (you can do this in the driver as well, but when the driver is installed well she bluescreens except in safe mode) The Synaptics driver seems to do okay in safe mode so that could mean that another driver is causing the conflict but something is not wanting to lay nice with the Synaptics driver. I must note however that the Synaptics driver worked just fine in Windows Vista x64. Also I have downloaded the driver from Toshiba's site, the 64 bit Synaptics driver from the Synaptic's site and a couple of others, the one that came closeest to working the best was a version 12. something for HP laptops but the option to disable the touchpad wasn't in the driver. I usually use a mouse with my laptop but I use the touchpad when I take it places with me sometimes, it would be nice to have full functionality of both mouse and touchpad and to be able to disable the touchpad when an external pointing device is attached the way I could in Vista but right now I would settle to just be able to disable the touchpad until this is resolved so I can use the laptop without the cursor jumping all over the place and seemingly having a mind of it's own. As a side note I am very careful about allowing Windows Update to install any updates that it wants at this poing, more than once it has installed things that gave me bluescreens at reboot most notably the Toshiba Value Added Package and the Synaptics driver and maybe an Atheros Wireless driver but it does not yet seem to have the best interests of my PC at heart. On the other hand I have the 32 bit version installed on a Desktop PC with an old Athlon XP 2000+ and 2 GB of Ram it runs wonderfully nearly as well as Windows XP but there is no Synaptics touchpad on the desktop of course, and no Toshiba Value Added Package.

Compaq V5000 CTO Synaptics Touchpad Driver Update Issue
I have an older Compaq notebook, V5000 CTO model. I install Windows 7 RC that I downloaded yesterday just before the cutoff. Clean install and everything went well. During one of my Windows Updates I updated a few drivers that it suggested including the Synaptics driver. After it rebooted, the touchpad would hardly work. It jumped across the page and clicked on things randomly. I did a rollback to the original and it has been working fine ever since. This isn't really a problem for me, I just don't know where to report these kinds of things (assuming MS even cares at this point).

Dell Vostro 1320 Touchpad Drivers Issue
I have just purchased a Dell computer (vostro 1320), with Windows 7. Everything was working just fine, when I started to get those blue screens errors. I seeked help from Dell, which told me to install WinDbg, to find out the problem. After analyzing what caused the error, this program pointed the error was in a driver from Dell touchpad. I contacted Dell, which said the problem was in the software, which was conflicting with windows, and then they told me to format the pc. I am very reluctant in doing so, mainly because the pc is brand new, and every time I formatted my old pc, it never was the same, and the old problems always returned. So, my question is: is there another solution for my problem? Maybe an alternative driver, which can substitute the one from Dell and does not conflict with windows!

Dell Inspiron 1440 Drivers
i want to install windows 7 as os in my laptop inspiron 1440 frm where i can download the drivers. Answer:- Check Dells site http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen Answer 2:- Prior to migrating to Windows 7 it would be best to download and run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. The Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor will determine if your current computer configuration will be compatible with Windows 7, for further information as well as a link for download please go here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx Another resource to verify compatibility is available at the Microsoft Windows 7 Compatibility Center located at the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx Also, please note that when migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7 you will not have an "in place upgrade" option. You will however have the option to select "custom" install when prompted. The Windows 7 install process will then copy all of your data in "My Documents" over to a Windows.old folder within Windows 7 itself. All applications and documents stored in other locations will have to be reinstalled / transferred manually. For more information on the Windows 7 Upgrade, please go here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Installing-and-reinstalling-Windows-7 For additional assistance with the migration of Windows XP to Windows 7, please go here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/ee150430.aspx

Dell E1505 Screen Flicker
screen flickers on my E1505 - looks almost like the brightness is changed just for a millisecond and then back. Occured after a clean install of win7. Does it whether I'm moving the mouse around or not. It does not do it if I show the screen only on an external monitor. If I set my laptop screen to be duplicated on the external monitor, the laptop still flickers but the external still does not. Device manager says ATI Mobility Radeon X1400. I ended up uninstalling win7 beta earlier this year because of the same problem. Last week I just ran the upgrade from my current vista system and there wasn't any flicker. This weekend I thought I'd run a clean install, but now I'm back to the flicker. I've read the http://windows7center.com/forums/11895-post11.html post and unzipped the 32bit files. Chose to update driver software and windows just said the best driver for this device is already installed. It shows version 8.561. I did notice it sounds like http://windows7center.com/forums/win...html#post36248 is having the same problem in that thread. Any ideas without reinstalling vista and upgrading to 7?
