I own a Dell Inspiron 1545 with Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (64bit). Last night i was browsing the internet fine before i shut my laptop down. An hour later, i decided to do something on my laptop and started it up again, but could not get online - through Ethernet or Wireless. I chalked it up to ISP problems (i have optimum online) and seeing as how I can go online on my tablet (where i'm posting from now), shut the laptop down and went to bed. This morning, i decided to troubleshoot and i got the DNS server message. I was wondering
Just wiped my computer with my Windows disc. It connects to our wifi and everything but it says the DNS is not responding, so no internet. I have a Linksys WUSB600N as an adapter that connects to our Linksys WRT320N. Manufacture: eMachines <--- Hate them!
I am working on an Acer laptop running Windows7. Internet connectivity was fine, then just stopped. I have attempted to get on the internet with multiple access points, hotspots, pdanet, 2wire router. The connection is fine to the devices, when attempting access the internet, Internet Explorer cannot display webpage. Diagnostics message isDNS server isn't responding.
I have a router which is connected to a desktop (not wireless) and a laptop which is connected wireless. On my laptop, i have internet, i have connections, i can browse the internet, but my computer says this :
Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding.
when i connect to the wireless internet, my laptop seems to be connecting, but taking longer than usual.
I'm experiencing wireless connection problem right in the middle of browsing. Loading of page suddenly stops. The wireless connection seem fine cause I don't see any exclamation point appearing next to it. I tried to powercycle but it didIt comes and goes for couple of days. I troubleshoot the connection and receive this message: "Your computer seems to be correctly configured, but the device and resource (DNS server) not responding. Here is the ipconfig /all turn out:[CODE]
I'm having trouble with the internet on my laptop. It says that it is connected to my wireless but it will take a long time loading sites or just pop up an error stating the the DNS server is not responding or that the DNS lookup failed.
I have a desktop with Windows 7 on it, which hosts a virtualbox VM which runs Windows XP. For some reason I can't connect to the internet from my Windows 7 machine, however I can connect fine from the VM which runs on top of it? My wife primarily uses the VM so I'm not sure exactly when this stopped working, it used to work fine. When running the troubleshooting tool it tells me the Firewall may be preventing the program from running, so I turned the firewall off but that didn't change anything. A second problem the tool indicates is that "Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (primary DNS server)". I have tried releasing and renewing my ipconfig, also to no avail.
i have problem With my new Laptop it says DNS server not responding Router (Wifi). only pages dosnt load and it says internet access my desktop Works fine here is my internet ipconfg Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
Ok, after 4 days of research and much head scratching, I will enter the fray. I think that my problem is in my router after reading everything I can find on the net. I'm getting the error ' DNS server not responding' but have followed suggestions from this site and others to resolve the problem. I ran into a problem with my router, and had to do a hard reset to factory defaults. After I had restored info provided by my ISP for settings required by them, I have network connectivity and I have Internet, but the two will not connect. I can ping my router from the network, but cannot connect to the Internet. I know just enough about networking to be dangerous to my self. Unfortunately for me this is my business network, and it is vital that i have internet.
I am having problems connecting with the internet on my PC. I have a Linksys WRTP54G router and am running two computers (desktop, laptop) on wirless G and an Xbox 360 wired.
I flashed the firmware on the router and this seems to have cause problems, but the new firmware is way better for VOIP and has improved the wired connection.
Weird thing is, my laptop with the integrated wirless card connects to the internet and network without a hiccup.
The desktop keeps connecting to the network, but has no internet connection. The diagnostic says the DNS server isn't responding. Both those fields for IPV4 are set to obtain automatically, the same as my laptop. IPV6 is not being used for any of the computers.
The only difference I see between the setups are that my desktop uses a USB wireless card. For some reason when I connection to my network which is called "connection" with the desk top it shows up as "connection 2".
I have tried re-installing the USB adaptor, I have manually given IP address and the DNS servers. None of it works, keep getting "The DNS Server isn't Responding".
Suddenly got an error saying dns server was not responding while I was trying to connect printer to wireless router. Let me know what other info you need.
Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit @ work, wireless internet connection. Can access web pages, cannot download files! Error message: "Your computer is correctly configured buth the DNS server is not responding". I've flushed the dns cache, tried Google DNS settings, Open DNS settings...nothing works! Ralink 802.11n Wireless LAN Card. No router.
I'm not really good with computers so I don't understand alot of the vocabulary used in alot of these forums. But recently I have encountered a problem with my internet.I am using Windows 7 and up until friday night, my internet was fine.I tried accessing the internet on friday night but when i started up my computer, something popped up asking me whether my internet connection was home, public or the other one (i forgot). The internet signal bar in my task bar would say it's connected but no internet access, whenever I tried to open an internet browser, a yellow yield triangle would appear in the signal bar.I used to get error messages like "Can't communicate to DNS sever" but now I get "DNS server not responding"Before, it was only my laptop that wasn't able to connect to the internet, everything like phones and the other laptops were fine. Now, even my desktop can't connect to the internet!Right now I'm only able to access the internet because I plugged in the ethernet (blue) cable directly into my laptop.I really don't know what is going on, I've tried multiple diagnoses like flushing the dns and the ipconfig /all thing, but nothing is working!
i've been having this problem last week, but after a few hours my net connection was back. now i have this problem again and it's like 10 hours of dns not responding. i tried to reset my modem, used an open dns server, used cmd stuffs, but not has changed. i have two laptops at home not of them can't connect. the only way i can connect is to directly connect the cable from the modem.
i am using macbook pro using bootcamp running windows 7 home premium 64 bit. the other is acer aspire 4810t i am using dual boot windows xp and vista. i am using my mac now which is running on windows 7. i tried to troubeshoot it for so many times, but i only got the annoying the same message. i have a wireless router the can't connect now on the internet. i have it this router for 1 year now.
Im currently having issues with my internet access. Seems that the issue is "DNS Server is not Responding." I have used OpenDNS, my Protocol Version 4 and 6 are both on "Obtain IP address automatically" and I have tried "Obtain DNS server address automatically" as well as using "208.67.222.222" and "208.67.220.220" for Preferred DNS and Alternate DNS respectively. I am able to connect to the internet but my connection is choppy and I am unable to play games that require an internet connection.
I recently ran into a problem with my DNS server, I have searched for solutions but nothing is working for me.When i troubleshoot it keeps saying that "The DNS server isn't responding". But it's only for every 10 min or when i open forexample Spotify the DNS server shuts down.

We have a linksys wireless internet connection at the house and everyones laptop is working except mine. Mine is connected but it says no internet access. I have tried switching the DNS server to public ones like Google, Norton, and a couple others but it keeps saying "dns server isnt responding". I have compared the settings on my laptop and another laptop that has internet under our linksys connection, to every detail and it's all basically the same..
today my Internet connection has stop working and when I used "diagnose connection problems it said "Dns server isn't responding". I've checked around the Internet and couldn't find any solutions. I have tried rebooting my computer and router/modem. All of the other computers my house can connect including a MacBook pro and another windows 7 x64 bit computer.
I just got a new computer. Out of the box it has had connection issues. When I run the troubleshooter it says that the DNS server isn't responding. It is a wireless connection. Other computers work fine. I have changed the DNS settings to both google and OpenDNS. I have uninstalled McAfee. I've pretty much done everything people online have suggested. If I start up in Safe Mode with Networking, it will connect just fine. So I'm sure it is in the computer and not the router.Below is my ipconfig including a number of ping tests. It seems that all the ping tests go out and come back fine, except for when I ping a name address.
I have issue where i can download antivirus updates, download torrent files but my webpages are not opening either from IE or Firefox.Diagonising the problem gives the issue as DNS server not responding.I don't know why but my downloads are happening well i just cant surf the internet
my internet connection comes through my modem, into an Ethernet port, to the wireless router, through another ethernet to my computer. Everything worked fine for years until yesterday. I could not connect to the internet through the modem to the router, but I could connect to it from connecting my computer to the modem (directly). The error that I get is "DNS server isn't responding" (Your computer is trying to use a DNS server that is incorrect or doesn't exist.). This error does not show when connecting my modem to computer (through ethernet cord).Diagram (located at Control PanelNetwork and InternetNetwork and Sharing Center)MY PC ------- Network 2 ----X---- Internet (not coloured)
Things I have tried to resolve this problem:
- unplugging and replugging the power cable to the modem - resetting the wireless router - netsh int ip reset (in command prompt) - netsh winsock reset (in command prompt) - system restore (came up with error, then restore point somehow got deleted) - Changed wireless router (to see if it was a router problem, it was not) - Booted in safe-mode (with networking), still no internet through wireless router - Changed DNS server addresses to "208.67.222.222" (preferred) "208.67.220.220" (alternate)

Every since I upgraded to Win7 Pro 64bit from Win7 Pro 32bit I have been getting "The DNS server isnot responding" error randomly and constantly (I attached the most current reports). I got rid of the Windows drivers and went straight to the Intel site for the drivers.....issue remains. Tried a complete power cycle of the router and modem....issue remains (No other computers are having the DNS issues, wired and wireless). I disabled the Bonjour Service (mDNSResponder.exe).issue remains. The is driving me nuts and I notice that the only way I can force the connection is to disable and enable the NIC
I am having issues with my wireless connections! My connection to my desktop is fine..but my wireless connection to my PS3, Iphone 4 and Hp Laptop is not working!

I think I may be dealing with two separate issues here, but let me just tell you what's going on:When trying to connect to the internet through both a wireless router and my local area connection, my browsers give me error saying, "X is trying to connect using a proxy server that is not responding."When I troubleshoot either of these connections, it tells me the DNS server is not responding. My roommate's computer, also a brand-new Windows 7 laptop, is also unable to connect, as is my Android phone. My dad is also having a similar problem with his connections, though when he resets the modem it will resolve the problem for a day or two.I have tried:Rebooting computer, modem and wireless routerReconfiguring the wireless routerDefining the DNS address to OpenDNS addresses and Google DNS addressesReturning the DNS to be found automaticallyDisabling/enabling both internet connectionsReleasing and renewing my IP addressTalking directly with my ISP supportAnd countless other Googled remedies.I would think it was only a problem with the modem - however, when my computer is connected to a new wireless network somewhere else, it still returns the same proxy error
I have a Macbook Pro w/ Snow Leopard 10.6x and I recently installed Parallels and Win 7 Prof x64 so I could access many of my military sites. I was up on the internet in my OWA, I had just gotten my CAC reader to work so I could access my email from home, when my computer got an update push and restarted. Once it rebooted I no longer had internet access and keep getting the DNS error message. I have tried setting the "preferred DNS & alternate DNS" addys and I will show an internet connection for about 30 seconds and then it changes back to no internet. I have tried turning off my Win Firewall and my Virus Barrier X6 software/firewall to no change. I have been on a Mac for about 2 yrs now and am trying to get the hang of Win 7 so I'm not great at the DOS Cmd like code for looking at everything. I have tried a few of the suggestions but nothing has worked and I don't know enough anymore to identify a problem when doing ipconfig /all etc. I have an Airport Extreme router that works fine with my macbook & my husbands Macbook as well, both wireless and ethernet. I however cannot say the same for the Windows partition and I don't remember enough to know where to look to trouble shoot any router issues etc. This issue basically nullifies the purchase of Parallels and Win 7 since I now can't get on the internet.
I just bought a new laptop for my uncle and am unable to connect to my internet via WiFi OR ethernet. When I run the diagnostics it tells me the dns server is not responding. Settings are to automatically connect to dns servers. I have tried changing them to a couple of addresses i have found online and have had no luck. I have many other devices in my household that have no problem connecting to the internet service. I have also run across advice to remove/disable a wireless miniport adapter, which i not found so I am assuming that isnt my issue.
i have duel boot system with window 7 and ubuntu 12.10 i connect to internet through nokia mobile using serial cable. it works fine in ubuntu and used to work fine in window 7 also till last month. but now i am not able to browse internet in window 7. this shows connected but i am not able to open webpages despite using different browsers. network troubleshooting shows "DNS server not responding" error. i have tried ipconfig release ipconfig flush ipconfig renew etc. and resetting dns server address to google dns but to no avail.
