SB Audigy SE - Driver Works, Sound Doesn't
So I have a SB Audigy SE (SB0570) and I installed Windows 7 about a month ago. Initially, my sound did not work even though I installed the drivers correctly. It began working one day when I restarted the computer in safe mode and then restarted it again normally.

Today, however, it failed again. The only thing that I can think of that has changed is that I installed drivers and software for my Sony Handycam last night. I've since uninstalled the software, but to no avail. When I click on the sound icon in the system tray with Winamp playing, I can see the green bar jumping up and down, signifying that there is sound. I've tried using speakers and headphones, so I know it's the sound card that's causing the problem.

I have uninstalled my drivers and I've tried daniel_k's drivers (first the ones that were too new for the SE - lol - and then the ones that were designed for the SE, the 2.0 version), the drivers that Windows 7 automatically downloaded for me, the 917x support pack, and the drivers that Creative provides on their site for Windows 7. None of them made any difference. My current driver reports its version as 5.12.1.2020, and Windows says that it's working correctly.

Can anyone tell me why I can't get sound even though my drivers seem to work? What might have caused this seemingly random problem?

Creative Audigy 2 (Platinum)
i've tried to use my older "Creative Audigy 2 Plainum" on the Windows 7 OS.

I've uses the 64-Bit driver (because i used Win 7 64-Bit) from Vista (some sw was also included -> like the "Audio console").

All looks good by the installation.

After a restart all looks good, too.

Sound was playing but only in 2.1 (stereo).

Now i checked some online sites and find out, that on Vista some people had the same problem.
I tried some workarounds but no better result was shown.

Now if i open the creative application "Audio console" i'm able to switch to the 5.1 mode, by selecting the 5.1 Sound support entry in a list.

If i check the sound info in windows 7 itself, i see only "2 Channel xx-bit" stuff.
So i think it is not possible to enable the 5.1 support for this sound card.

My question is, got anybody the "Creative Audigy 2" running in 5.1 mode on Win7?
And if yes, how?

Creative Audigy 2 ZS Card
I've got a Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS card installed with the latest drivers from Creative. I'm also using Logitech Z-5500 5.1 speakers.

The thing is, there's only audio out of the R and L speakers.. Normally I wouldn't care, but another issue has arisen.

When I play games (specifically Mass Effect and L4D), the audio cuts in and out depending on the camera angle (I only get dialogue and the sound of my weapon firing in L4D. No ambient).

I've tried installing ALchemy, messing with settings, installing RealTek, and nothing seems to work.

EDIT: also, forgot to mention, using Direct connect, but Realtek isn't reading that I'm plugged into the back panel. When I test audio when switched to 6 Ch Direct, I get noise from all the speakers, but there's nothing for games, videos, etc.

Creative Audigy 2 Sound Issues
While playing a game, listening to music, talking on ventrilo my audio starts getting distorted. The best description I can think of is it sounds like a metallic freaky sound. It last for a minute or so and then it starts to clear up and returns to normal. This happens a couple times per day and appears to be more prevalent when using multiple apps. I have uninstalled and installed the lastest creative drivers as well as trying Daniel K's driver. I also have reverted to the windows default driver.

They all do the same thing. Windows gives me a message saying that the driver is experiencing problems and it asks me if I want to disable it. I do not have any issues with the onbard audio when I enable it. I prefer to get the soundlblaster working properly since the sound is alot better IMO when it works.

Audio Problems With Creative Audigy 4
I would just like to say that I was having problems with my audio on Windows 7 64bit with the default driver. The sound would cut out after a few minutes of listening to music in either iTunes ot WMP. In games it would become garbled after a few minutes as well.

So I downloaded the latest Vista 64bit drivers from Creatives website and the have been listening to music for the last 2+ hours with no problems. I also had to turn down the volume by about 30% as the driver made it louder. It also sounds clearer to me but that could be just be in my head.

Creative Audigy LS No Sound Through S / PDIF
Recently I bought the logitech Z-5500, along with a lot of cables.

I want to hook up 2 speaker sets to my Audigy LS, my standard speakers and the Z-5500. I connected the standard speakers with the 3 normal 3.5mm jacks. However now I want to connect my Z-5500 to my sound card using the digital input (I/O), I am doing this via a 3.5mm jack to Toslink (optical) and that Toslink cable goes into my Z-5500. Well the problem I am having at the moment is this:

a) Are the creative drivers screwing with my sound?

b) My set up is wrong and I need another approach.

I definitely hope it's a) because I don't want to buy other cables and wasted 16 euro's on this one >.<. Anyways I hope someone can help me with this.

Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Workaround Sound
For those of you out there pulling hair out to get your sound working better. Running the Vista Drivers despite being 2 years old off creative's website work when run in compatibility for vista mode. You do get sound working at proper volumes without blasting your speakers just to hear. However you do get sporadic static periodically which I have yet to figure out a means to prevent.

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy LS Not Working
I've installed Windows 7 on my desktop with dual boot to Vista. Everything's been working fine but I haven't been able to properly setup my sound-card to function properly. As of now, I currently have no sound and I've been through many different drivers from the Creative website.

I've also tried running them in compatibility mode with Windows Vista and Windows XP SP3.

I am currently getting this error message under the "Device Status" In Device Manager, "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)".

Windows has been automatically installing the driver version 5.12.1.2004 dated June 13 2007.

Can anyone please help me with this issue? It is currently ruining my Windows 7 experience!

Hauppauge Nova TD (500) Dual Tuner DVB-Tuner Device
I am using the 64-bit version of W7. Quad core-4Gbs RAM etc (enough I guess for this to function)
I have the above device recognized by media center correctly as a two channel recorder, but can only watch or record one channel. Under Vista 32 & 64 Bit versions this worked fine using Hauppauge's MCE driver package, but their current driver (V.4.3.25080.0) seems to be some sort of pre-release beta, perhaps uniquely designed, I don't know - it doesn't work though.

Unfortunately device removal and a re-boot, just keeps automatically reinstalling the same driver that doesn't work, even choosing to delete the file, it searches the internet and gets the same one every time.

trying a manual install of the above mentioned MCE that worked on Vista, does not here.
The only visual difference I can see is under Vista the Tuner is listed twice in control panel, neither can be deleted and as operation is ok, I have never worried. Under W7, the device has the same description but is listed once. when I try to record a second program I get the message both tuners are in use, and it displays both recording the same channel. try to change one and both are deleted.

it is as if Media Center and control panel, although both identifying the device correctly, are at odds with communicating to that end, which was why I mentioned the control panel's listing of the device as different to Vista.

Audigy SE And Headphones
I've been having an odd problem with my Audigy SE card and my headphones. When I was using on-board sound, there would be a "headphone" device separate from the "speakers" device. With the Audigy SE, there is only a "speakers" device. This is problematic because every program I run thinks I'm running stereo speakers and not headphones. Some programs, like Steam games, let me manually change from speakers to headphones (but it still resets to speakers every time I restart), others don't. And yes, it does make a difference.

I don't have a front-panel audio connector or anything, I just plug my headphones right into the green jack of the sound card.

I don't really need a "fix" for this (though it would be nice), just some kind of hack to make Windows think the "speakers" device is really headphones. Do any other Audigy SE owners have this problem too?

EMU10K On SB Audigy 2 Driver
Got the Vista X64 drivers for the sound card from CreativeLabs.com since there wasn't a native one with the installation (which I thought was a really wierd ommission, but whatever) and the sound components appear to be okay but I have an Unknown Device showing up ...

the vendor ID indicates that it's the game port on the Audigy 2. Attempting to automatically locate a driver returns a message stating that the driver is present but couldn't be installed because the inf file is missing a necessary entry.

Anyone got this problem beat yet?

Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Driver Issues
I read a few threads here a bit earlier when I found that I couldn't record What U Hear on my system. Though the other threads were about X-FI cards, the idea of using a different driver sounded right, so I have tried several times with different drivers, but they don't take. In the Device Manager I found that the original WDM driver installed by the OS remains.

First time, using the latest Windows 7 driver from Creative, I got an error dialog saying that the installation failed. I then tried to force the installation with Have Disk, but a window appeared saying that it couldn't find an Audigy device installed. I tried the Daniel_K 3.5 support package, which produced no error dialogs, but going to the Device Manager showed that it failed also.
