Crackling Sound With Xfi Card
I am currently running an x-fi xtrememusic sound card in my rig. Every sound crackles. The only thing that seems to work is to completely remove the sound drivers and have windows 7 reinstall the default 8/27/08 drivers. Whenever I reset my computer, however, the sound starts crackling again and it seems that windows 7 has updated the sound drivers to the newer 1/21/09 beta drivers. How do I disable windows from updating my drivers like this?

Have Realtek High Definition Sound But No Hdmi Output
I've upgraded from vista to 7 and I am getting no sound, I've searched, searched and tried alot of different things, I see alot of people on this forum with the same issues, but I've tried most of them. I've installed and unistalled all the different drivers from realtek, but no luck. I have realtek high definition sound but no hdmi output. In my device manager it says the sound driver is installed properly, but when I tried to test the sound it fails to test tone, I don't know if it has to deal with an audio codec. I have regular speaker that connect to a sound jack. At this point I am quite desperate. I've spent all night trying to figure this out.

Realtek Sound Card Problem
I really need urgent help with my Realtek soundcard. My sound is completely off, I cannot find Realtek soundcard in Device manager (not listed), Add New Hardware scan does nothing. I know that it is possibble to disable the soudncard in BIOS but I've searched through BIOS and couldn't find any option with "Sound" or something similar to it. I've downloaded the drivers for Win 7 installed them but nothing happens when I restart. Does anyone know what the option would be in BIOS to enable/disable the onboard soundcard? Or is there something else?

Realtek Sound Card Driver Issue
After upgrading to 7 I have been experiencing some random difficulties with my sound system. When going to my sound card properties, I notice that there is a generic name to the device, "High-Definition Audio Device". Before I upgraded (when I was on Vista) I'm sure that it said Realtek-something but I don't remember the exact device name. I want to download a driver update for my sound card, but how do I find out which driver I need to download if the name of the sound card is not showing?

Realtek ALC882, ALC883, ALC885 Sound Card Support
I own a laptop Fujitsu-Siemens M3448G, and by default Windows 7 does not support the sound card. Luckly, Fujitsu-Siemens has made Vista drivers for the sound card, the sound card is a Realtek card, from the family ALC882, ALC883, ALC885, ALC888, ALC861VD, ALC660, ALC662, ALC260, ALC262, ALC268. Maybe Windows 7, could support this card out of the box?

Conexant High Def Drivers HP G60
The microphone does not work properly on my HP G60. HP has acknowledged this to be a problem in Windows 7. Has anyone else (here) experienced the same problem? It is well discussed on the HP site. Who should fix this; HP, Microsoft or Conexant? The problem has persisted for months and HP shipped there machines knowing of the issue. Does that mean they have given up or that they are hoping for a bail out from Microsoft / Conexant? Does anyone know of a substitute driver that would get the microphone working - passably. It currently records sound but at such a poor quality that it is not useable. I have followed all of the helpful suggestions, none made a difference.

FPS Drop Because Of Sound Card / Sound Card Drivers
I've recently upgraded my os to windows 7, and noticed a significant fps drop in all games I've installed. The problem seems to come from the sound card. I've disabled it in device manager and I gained a steady 15-20 more in most of the applications. Any idea what to do? Is it a driver issue or something? I got an Athlon 64x2 4600+, Asus M2N mainboard, 2 gigs of ram, Gainward 8800GS video card, Sound Blaster Live 24bit soundcard. Drivers are downloaded from creative.

Cannot Find Creative Sound Blaster Xtreme Audio Sound Card
My fairly new PC: Core2Quad Q6700 on ASUS P5K (Intel P35) with RealTek HD Audio chip, plus Creative Soundblaster Xtreme Audio internal sound card. I've installed Windows 7RC on a new partition on my HD alongside Vista Ultimate. I've experienced no installation problem, but Win7RC does not recognize my SB sound card at all! So, I can't even update the driver! It recognized the Realtek chip and my external USB mic, but not the sound card that had been installed for audio quality!! To come to think of it, I've had the problem with Vista, with my Dragon Naturally Speaking Pro 10.1 not recognizing the "existence of any sound system" in an administrator account I used to install the software. However, the software recognizes all my audio systems in my other user account (admin) and the software runs smoothly!! Any connection? What's the problem here? Anyone have any idea? Edit: I also found that the stereo mix feature of the Realtek HD audio isn't recognized either. (Recognized in Vista and my old XP)

Sound Blaster Audigy PCI Card Sound Problem
I installed windows 7 home premium today on my computer on a dedicated hard disk. All went fine and did windows updates to all my driver issues. At this point I had sound. I then installed ubuntu 9.10 on a separate physical disk without issue. Ubuntu installed a boot loader (Grub) which recognised windows 7 and I could boot into both OSes (dual boot), both working happily (including sound). I then installed some apps in ubuntu (incl. wine) and now when I boot into windows 7, I don't have any sound. The sound icon is happy, the device manager is happy. I haven't touched the windows disk or installation, yet the sound doesn't work. The sound hardware is a Sound Blaster Audigy PCI card. This doesn't make sense surely. Any ideas?

Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card Compatibility
I just bought a new pc from Dell. I opted out of buying the SB sound card they had as an option and now I am sorta regretting that. I loaded RC 7100 as soon as I got the machine and after going through this forum I am sorta left with the impression that SB cards don't work with Win 7. Is that really the case? I was looking at an "Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card" but if it will just cause me grief it's not worth it. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I can get and not pull my hair out trying to get it to work? The main game I play sounds sorta mediocre with the on-board sound.

No Sound With Audigy 2 Sound Card
This is probably just a stop gap but I was finally able to get my old Creative Audigy 2 card to work with 5.1 surround by using Audigy 4 drivers for Windows 7. I haven't been able to adjust bass and treble yet but I've been too busy just enjoying the music to get around to looking for ways to make that happen. Music sounds better than it ever did in XP or Vista! It may not be a complete fix but at least it'll get you some sound until they come up with driver for those of us with older sound cards. Be patient as it takes a while for the complete install!

Flash, Video Playing, Sound And Generally High CPU Usage
I've done a fair amount of reading and searching on CPU Usage in Windows 7 (both Beta & RC 1) and haven't had any luck with this issue yet. The issue I'm having is my CPU Usage spikes up to 80-100% very often and performance of any other task during this period is frustratingly laggy. These spikes happen from even the simplest action ranging from opening the start menu, to scrolling through text on a webpage and worst of all playing video (Youtube is my benchmark tool, 80% usage guaranteed during video play). Using any web browser with 3+ tabs open is guaranteed to spike CPU usage over 50%. Multitasking in general begets a sluggish OS performance. Some of the solutions I've read and tried: Installing NVIDIA's Windows 7 video drivers, no improvement. Disabling the HD Audio in device manager seems to help a lot of people, I don't have this in my device manager. Sound drivers/devices also seem to be a leading source of CPU over-usage in a lot of cases. I've tried disabling/removing my sound card, drivers, and audio services to no avail. I initially had a sound card and on-board sound (AC97) running and disabling one of the two had a minor improvement in performance but nothing spectacular. Even with both disabled the CPU usage still spikes to 90-100% during video play, not to mention the video stutters and stops often. I also had on-board LAN in addition to a wireless card installed so I've switched between the two, disabling one or the other with no marked improvement. Setting the page file to manual control with a 4+ GB size setting, no difference. Disabling AERO, using a Windows 7 classic theme, no dice. I like to think that my hardware is strong enough to handle video streaming/playing without maxing out the CPU but if you think I'm mistaken then feel free to let me know. My Windows 7 performance score was somewhere around 3.4. I've also watched the Process Explorer extensively and I can't find any service that sticks out terribly. Any ideas? Any diagnostic tools you guys would recommend?

Realtek HD Sound Driver 2.27 Not Original
I install every new driver that is released for my hardware. I installed Catalyst 9.5, then upgraded to 9.6 without issue. Same with the sound card, the first driver I had was 2.21. Then updated to 2.24, 2.25 and 2.26 without issues again. However today I installed latest Realtek HD sound driver 2.27 and when I restarted, Windows told me that it was not original. It gave me two options: Activate now or later. Of course I choose to activate now and all back to the normality. Why Windows got unactivated? It was activated since the first boot. I think that it can deactivate if Windows found major hardware changes, but a sound card driver upgrade?-Windows 7 x64 RC.

Horrible Sound With Latest Realtek Driver
I've looked almost everywhere and I couldn't find my exact problem. Well, technically I did but there wasn't a solution anywhere, so I decided to go ahead and ask myself. Now, I installed Windows 7 (32 bit) on my computer the other day, and I've been driver hunting since then. Looking for video card drivers, printer drivers, it's a real nightmare. Though I can say I've pretty much managed with everything, except with this. I downloaded the latest Realtek HD audio driver for Windows 7 twice, from different sources. I also downloaded a bunch of codecs (made for Windows 7 as well) but what really bothers me is that the sound quality is horrifying. I used to have XP on my system until last week with the appropriate Realtek audio driver and the sound was awesome. The equalizers available really did the trick. Now, however, the sound is so freaking bad, even Winamp's equalizer can't make my music sound as good as it did. The treble is raspy, there's hardly any bass. I've tried all the available settings in the Realtek Control Center (or whatever it's called) to no avail. All the additional equalizing and adjusting of the environment make it sound even worse.

Regular Cataclysmic Sound Failures In Asus Onboard Sound
After installing windows 7x64, the sound initially worked. Then I noticed that during any audio playback the sound would pop and crack regularly. Now on occasion, the audio will work with popping and cracking for a while, and then have a cataclysmic failure errupting in massive static before it stops working all together.  Sound works with popping and cracking again after a cold boot, but the problem repeats every few days. I am using an Asus M2N-Plus SLI Vista Edition Motherboard which uses the C-Media 6501 on board sound-card The problem is not changed by using headphones, or using the case front head-phone jack Attempted to use Vista x64 drivers, which do not work, Neither Asus nor C-Media have released updated drivers for windows 7x64 for this card Does anyone know of a set of drivers that work? or a way to work around this?
