Corel Windvd 9 Plus Crashes

After I installed Win DVD 9 on my pc and registering the software (which I had no trouble doing)
the app will either crash or take about 5 minutes to read a standard DVD and 5-10 mins to read my Blu ray discs

The program worked perfectly when using Vista.

Here's what I've tried so far:

Unistalled/Re-installed program

Downloaded latest program updates and updated win dvd 9

Did a complete manual uninstall of program, registry entries and all

Applied different compatibility settings (this actually crashes the app more often than not lol)
made sure that all relevant device drivers are up to date .

Problem With Windvd 8 - Slow Explorer
After installing Win DVD 8 I had a distinct problem opening my libraries in Windows Explorer.  Instead of listing all the folders in the left pane immediately, I just had a spinning icon.  The folders did not list or listed extremely slowly.  The right pane seemed to open ok when I clicked on the various libraries, but the left continued not to list the folders that were available.  The first time this happened, I did a complete reinstall, as I didn't know what program had caused it.

I then checked after each program, and it was only after installing Ulead Movie Factory 6 and then the bonus Win DVD 8 that I had the problem.  After uninstalling Win DVD8, things returned to normal.  I'm not sure what could cause such a problem, as the programs seem unconnected (Windows Explorer and Win DVD).  Anyone else have a similar problem or is this program known to not be compatible?  I had no similar trouble running it in Vista.

Corel VideoStudio X2 Will Not Produce DVD
Corel VideoStudio X2 works fine until you try to produce a DVD. At that point, the necessary buttons on bottom of the menu are not there. I've been saving the file as DV and then producing my home DVDs with Windows DVD Maker. That works. Here is what Corel support had to say about this:

"Unfortunately we do not support products that are installed on a Beta or Release Candidate operating system. As for now, support for Video Studio can be obtained if you have Windows XP or Vista or until the full version of Windows 7 is released.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further questions."

My Original Question to Them:

I've been using the software for a year, but this is the first time I've tried creating a DVD since installing Windows 7 RC in early May. When I reach the create disc point, the options shown on p 152 of the user guide are not there on the button bar. I have no NEXT button to press to burn the movie to disc. I am not sure if this is due to some missing add-on or a Windows 7 related problem.

Program Starting But Never Opening - 3 Corel Applications
I am having an issue with Corel MediaOne and Corel Paint Shop Pro X2 and Corel Paint Shop Pro X2 Ultimate. Al three programs have been uninstalled and reinstalled. The program will install normally as long as IE8 is not open. (If IE 8 is open the install hangs when it tries to open the program being installed).

After starting the program (one of the 3 above), it shows in the PROCESS tab of Task Manager but never completly starts running and showing in the application tab. I have no error messages etc. anywhere I can find when this happens.

Here is something I have not seen on other posts that is happening at the same time!

If IE8 is open and I try to load a webpage while any of the above programs are trying to load (after successful installation) and it is showing is task manger as a process, IE8 will start not responding and hang. As soon as I END PROCESS of any of the above 3 programs that is running, IE8 starts responding normally with no problems. This is the strange part but might be able to equate to a solution.

I also have Corel Draw X4 and it runs without any issue at all. I am leaning towards this having someting to do with the default applications that handle graphics possibly? I have changed all file defaults not to inlude any of the above programs but that did not help. It is strange the effect on IE8 whn the program is trying to start.

I have tried running as an administratior as well as trying all the other compatibility options for all three programs with the same results.

EXPLORER.EXE Crashes, MMC.EXE Crashes, Moviemaker.exe Error
I want to love Win7 so badly, but this is just crazy. I'm about to go back to good old XP, simply for the stability. I'm about fed up with Windows 7 after only using it for two weeks. Off of a brand new and formatted clean install, with only Norton NIS 2010, Itunes, Adobe Reader, and Firefox 3.5.7 installed, I get constant explorer.exe crashes.

Shortly followed by an mmc.exe crash, then it just gets caught up in a never-ending explorer.exe crash that only a reboot resolves, for a short time. All drivers are up to date, and all Win 7 updates have been applied.

I've even formatted and re-installed Win7 only to have explorer begin crashing a day later. This is all on a stock Dell Inspiron 545 quad core, 8GB RAM, etc. I'm very tech savvy and am about jump off of the Win 7 bandwagon. Maybe the Apple Mac commercials are correct, another fumbled attempt at a stable OS from Microsoft?

After extensive reading, it appears that many others are suffering through this ____ also. Some get it while attempting to right click any icon, some when launching apps, some, like me , for no apparent reason at all. I don't ever get the BSOD, but the computer is essentially non-functional due to explorer restarting all the time.

I've done a ton of reading and have tried sfc /scannow, which found no errors. I've tried shellexview, to no avail for the context handlers. I've uninstalled and re-installed all non-MS apps. I've tried everything that I've read, and it eventually starts crashing again. It is very random, and I can find no patterns that cause the explorer crashing.

It works for two days, then goes haywire. Sometimes it only works for an hour before the explorer crashes begin. And yes, this is a fully licensed and legal copy of Win 7 Pro that I purchased through CDW. A side note, this computer ran WIN XP perfectly. All hardware has been tested and is perfect. If anyone has found a fix for this issue, then please chime in! Below are the errors that populate the Event Viewer:

Activation context generation failed for "c:program files (x86)windows livephoto galleryMovieMaker.Exe".Error in manifest or policy file "c:program files (x86)windows livephoto galleryWLMFDS.DLL" on line 8. Crashes When Loading Up Certain Programmes
Ive just installed Windows 7 on my machine. Running an AMD dual core 3800+ with 4.0DDR2 and GForce 9750GT

On the initial installation, just before you have the option to set up user name- the screen went all blue with lots on small black horizontal line across. It hung for a few mins and eventually I had to manually re-start. Off to a great start!!

Anyway once it re-booted and after it had checked for the intial first use and graphics, I managed to get in to the system and successfully load onto the desktop. Continued through windows update and there was some updates for my graphics cards. After this I went to Nvidia's site and downloaded the 124mb file Windows 7 64 bit file.

All this downloaded and installed ok, however, whenever I try to open a media file, Windows media centre it'self and msn messenger, the screen freezes and seems un recoverable. I haven't installed any other programes yet, but I can only assume it's something to do with the graphics card?

remember this happened before I managed to even load the OS propperly for the first time...does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be at all and a possible solution?

SLI Crashes, Drivers
I just installed the Windows 7 Beta and installing all the drivers and software were a breeze. I was pretty amazed at the performance compared to Vista. My boot-times were about 20% faster than Vista and the "Aero" effect appears smoother for me. One problem i encountered was that I could not run any games including Counter-Strike:Source and Crysis without locking up. I have a pair of 8800's paired up in SLI and all the spec's are running in stock clock. Does Windows 7 not support SLI at the moment? I am running the NVIDIA 181.22 WHQl Drivers.

WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR BSOD Crashes
I'm getting regular (every hour or so) BSOD crashes with the following details:

This was likely caused by the following module: hardware

Bugcheck code: 0x124 (0x0, 0xFFFFFA80047BE038, 0xB2000040, 0x800)
Error: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR

I run Vista x64 with a 100% stable system that I've extensively stress tested so I know there is no 'real' hardware issue.

Am I correct in assuming this is a driver issue? If so, is there any way I can isolate the driver?

Frequent Crashes, BSoD
I recently built a pc for my nephew but had to leave installing windows to him because of a hardware issue (video card was doa, had to ship it back to newegg). Well, we've had problems with it since installing and have even gotten a couple blue screens in the process (error codes below).

The first couple of times he tried to install it he had issues where it would freeze mid install (he eventually got through the install by switching to a ps/2 mouse and keyboard instead of usb, for whatever reason this worked). After installing though he said he has had problems with seemingly random crashes. I had him make sure all drivers were installed, but I suspect we are still having some sort of hardware issue (possibly the mobo?). Can anyone help with the blue screen error reports below:

Constant BSoD Crashes
'Hanging onto Windows XP? See what you're missing.', says Windows 7 ad...

Sorry for this dramatic intro, but those BlueScreens have become too frustrating, and they are everything I'd been missing before. My machine is less than 3 years old. From the beginning I have XP onto it.

Then, I installed Vista, but after experiencing constant crashes (BSoD), I downgraded it back to XP. Recently, I decided to give Windows 7 a chance. Before that, I ran Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor just to be sure, and everything passed OK. All the devices were rated as compatible, just as my system (AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual 4600+, 2.41 GHz, 1 GB of RAM; Radeon X1600 graphic...).

I installed fresh copy of Windows 7, but the same thing is happening - BSod, BSod, BSoD and BSod only - up the 5 minutes after Login. Just like that! I have only updates and drivers over Microsoft update installed. Nothing else! This are only six crash analysis (of many) within past week:

When I open Mozilla firefox or opera at first and run the ie8 after one of them, the system is running without any problems.

BSOD - I Had Been Having Regular Crashes
Hey Tom's! I hope everyone is well. I'm returning to the community with a problem I was having before. I have just upgraded from Windows 7 RC to Win 7 32 bit Enterprise Edition with no problems. Did a fresh install and had it formatted.

Just got my first BSOD/crash, and I had been having regular crashes (about once every 4-5 days) I don't think it's hardware related, probably driver, so I was hoping people could help narrow it down and kill this problem for good.

Here's the text of the BSOD:

HP Crashes When Streaming Video
My venerable V2401cl works well with Win7, but crashes the web browser (Firefox, IE8, and Chrome) and Windows, usually freezing the screen, but sometimes producing a Blue Screen of Death.

I see the behavior on Hulu.com, Youtube.com and Flip.tv, usually after a few minutes playing.

I have installed the ATI/AMD updater "9-11_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu"

http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?driver=VideoCard/win7-64-suite

...and the latest Flash.

My Presario v2401cl is in the Compaq v2000 family of laptops and features an AMD 64-bit 1.8Ghz Turion microprocessor, 512MB of original Compaq-installed RAM

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00541065&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&os=2100&product=1158570

... oh, and I saw this same behavior in WinXP_SP3, which is one reason I updated to Win7.

Except for this problem, I have enjoyed the Win7 update experience. I also use the laptop for actually work-related purposes.

Hotmail Crashes Computer
I was using hotmail when I clicked on my address book and the computer crashed. White screen with vertical lines showing. Totally unresponsive. I had to manually shut the computer down using the button on the front of the computer, alt-control-del did nothing. After multiple reboots I am unable to access hotmail. IE8 simply times out when I try to navigate to their site.

All other internet sites seem to work fine. I am running Windows 7 RC 32-bit version Avast free with an amd athlon 3500+ 2 gigabyte RAM ATI Radeon xpress 200. I recently enabled ECN on this computer, I wondered if this might have had anything to do with the problem. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Printer Spooler Crashes
I have installed windows 7 prof 32 bit on a few of our machine networks and so far so good, apart from the printer spooler keeps crashing at random intervals with the error code of 0x0000002. I'm guessing its because our print server has probably dished out an xp driver and windows 7 doesn't like it, thats a guess anyway.

So far all windows 7 machines suffer and we have to restart the local spooler. So my question is seeing as we will be a mixed environment do i have to install the new drivers locally or can my win 2003 server dish out the correct ones.

Explorer Crashes Constantly
I did an upgrade from vista home premium x64 to Windows 7 home premium a couple weeks ago and ever since, my Windows Explorer crashes at least 15-20 times a day.  Sometimes it happens when I am in Explorer, sometimes some other application will crash and I'll see the little window saying that Windows Explorer has stopped working and is looking for a solution to the problem (but there never is one).

I have an HP e9150t desktop  (product: NY810AV#ABA) with a i7 920 processor, 6 GB RAM that is just six months old. I have an Nvidia GTS250 graphics card.  All drivers and software versions are up to date.

Blue Screens And Game Crashes
I just built a new machine and did a clean install of Windows 7 RC last week. For the most part it runs like a dream, very much up to par.

However, there are occasional Blue Screens and game crashes that happen while putting little strain on the PC, in my opinion.

I am typically running Firefox, Ventrilo and World of Warcraft when the issue occurs. Occasionally I get dips in my frame rate from around 60fps to 15-25fps. I received a notification that it was in relation to my video card and that I should update the driver, however I installed the 185.85 nvidia driver when I assembled it all.

Is there anyone that has experienced similar issues? if so what was your fix?

What processes does windows start when the computer is not engaged by a user? because it has to be something like that which makes it fault and reboot right?
