HP Pavilion dv7 2070ea

Windows 7 Professional 64bit

The laptop came preinstalled with Vista Home 64bit and i was able to use the mobile broadband without any issues.

I have installed Windows 7 Pro 64 in a dual boot config and it runs fine on wired or wireless connections, but when i try to use the mobile broadband i run into issues.

After the modem driver and software install and a few restarts I was able to get all the devices in the device manager to be happy, and i was able to connect via the 3 Connect software and access the internet. But after a few minutes Windows will inevitably lock up, regardless of what program is being used. The screen will freeze, there will be zero harddrive activity and the only course of action is to hold down the power button

The mobile broadbands company site says that the vista drivers should be happy on windows 7, but something isnt happy.

I really need to resolve this as my mobile broadband allows me to connect to various servers for work via its allowed IP address.

Is this the modem, the USB bus or something else?

I have checked the event log and there isnt anything useful in there.

Huawei E169 USB 3g Modem Driver
I can't get my Huawei 169 modem to function in Windows 7, I've tried both build 6801 and 6956 -same result

As soon as I plug the modem in Windows 7 recognizes it as a usb disk, I can access the disk and launch the on board installer. I've downloaded the latest driver from the Huawei site, but the installer fails with the error "can't find any modem"

If I do a hardware scan in the device manager only the usb disk turns up, but not the modem.

I'm using this modem on this laptop in both WinXP and OSX without any problems, so the modem and PC is allright...

Is there any special windows 7 services that I need to start?

Installing Huawei Modem Driver Of PTCL V Wireless On Wi
Installing Huawei modem Driver of PTCL V Wireless on windows 7. In this article you will find how to install huawei modem (ETS2558) drivers of previous version windows (XP) on windows 7.

Other user (other modem brand) of PTCL V or windows XP service pack 3 and vista user may get help from there to install their drivers.

As we know that win 7 has great support for previous windows applications so software make no problem only driver create a problem.

To install the driver follow these steps.

1- Insert CD into CD/ DVD ROM.

2- Cancel auto run of huawei application.

3- Go to start Menu in search bar type "Troubleshooting" and open it from menu.

4- Now click on programs and follow the instruction (Run application in Win XP service pack 2 compatibility mode and follow procedure same as XP).

Select not listed….

Select Location of application….

Click on "Try recommended settings"

Now click on start the Program…

5-After installizations save compatibility settings. (Windows may warn u that it is not compatible just ignore it).

6-Now go to the Device manager here you will see TUSB3410 DEVICE IN Multiport serial adapters which will be marked with some sign Right click on it and then click on update driver. Now click on brows files from computer and select CD/ DVD ROM in which driver is found. It will scan the CD/ DVD ROM n find and install drivers automatically.

7-Refresh the list of device manager or re-open it. U will see that USB-Serial Port (COM 3) in Ports (COM & LPT) will be marked with sign. Now perform same procedure as in step 6 with it.

Now you are ready to use your application.

Now open application ptcl v and click on connect it may take 1 to 2 minutes by displaying a message initializing.

Video Driver Conflict
I have just assembled a Tiger Direct barebones kit with Win 7 64 bit home premium.

ASUS motherboard with onboard ATI graphics, and a Radeon HD 4350 graphics card to boost graphics performance. The machine tends to shut down with a BSOD which provides this error message.

I can't access the two help files--not sure what to use to open the .dmp file--I don't see a Windows 7 version of software to open than, and while I am the administrator for the machine under my own login, I'm told I don't have admin rights and need permission to open the file. I reviewed the permissions and don't see any more I can have, so I'm perplexed.

At the same time, my tech friends suggest my problem is likely to be a driver conflict between the onboard and the video card and I should work on resolving this. When I check DM the Radeon video card shows no conflicts and says it's working correctly.

In the meantime, my digital monitor works on the analog video outputs both from the motherboard and the graphics card, but neither DVI output works. I've got the latest available drivers for the Radeon card and the Windows 7 check for Samsung drivers says the PnP driver is the latest available. Samsung shows no new drivers for Windows 7.

Hardware Conflict In Win7
I found a conflict between these two devices in my laptop and only in win 7:

IEEE 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller(Hardware ID:PCIVEN_1217&DEV_00F7&SUBSYS_00F71217&REV_02)
Driver Provider:Microsoft,Driver Date:2006-06-21,Driver Version:6.1.7600.16385,Digital Signer:Microsoft Windows

O2Micro Integrated MS/MSPRO Controller(Hardware ID:PCIVEN_1217&DEV_7130&SUBSYS_012F1025&REV_01)
Driver Provider:O2Micro,Driver Date:2005-11-14,Driver Version:1.0.2.23,Digital Signer:Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher

according to devices hardwareIDs,manufacurer of these two devicse is O2Micro.

i installed the latest drivers that microsoft provided for these two devices in win 7, and in my laptop both of these devices use IRQ 0x00000016(22) and this conflict causes problem in restarting my laptop after resuming from sleep or hibernate, because when i disable IEEE 1394,i can restart the laptop correctly.

Now i want to know is there any way that microsoft check these two device drivers for conflict and solving my problem? If no,what can i do?

Belkin N+ USB Wireless Causing Conflict
I'm having a problem with using USB network adapters, I've tried three different ones and they all end up shutting off my computer every few hours. It is some form of USB conflict I can't seem to fix.

I tried switching to a PCI card, but since I happen to be in a corner in the house having the wireless adapter on top of the desk is the only thing that seems to get me any sort of signal. But the USB Adapters all persist in shutting me down. Just a hard-shutoff with no warning, all of a sudden bam, its just powered off.

Right now I'm using a Belkin N+ USB Adapter. Any ideas on how to correct this issue? I have several other USB devices plugged in as well: KVM switch, external hard drive, webcam, mouse+keyboard.

Ricoh Cardbus Controller Causes Resources Conflict
my problem is caused by a Ricoh R/RL/RT/RC/5C475/(II), R5C520 CardBus-Controller.

The device manager says that there would not be enough resources for this device and that I would have to deactivate other hardware to get it running. But it worked fine under Windows XP. What can I do to get all my hardware running without deactivating other stuff?

There is one other post with the same problem. I've tried everything written there (deinstall PCI, new ACPI driver...) but nothing helped. And because the thread was still continuing after those suggestions I think the Problem is not solved yet.

Lexmark 3400 Has Conflict With Other USB Flash Drives
i have recently got a new computer with Windows 7 and i installed this Lexmark and everytime I plug in a flashdrive into the hard drive (not printer); the printer puts the flash drive with it and automatically wants to scan for photos.  It will not let me open the flashdrive to view files and other stuff.  I can only fix this if the printer is turned off.

I thought the printer USB would have a different drive letter but it overtakes the E: and F: drives and every other driver that can be used for a flash drive.  I would like some help, if there is any, to fix this and be able to use a flsh drive without the printer having a conflict with this.

7 64-bit Install On Dell 755, AHCI Conflict
i am trying to do a fresh install with Win 7 x64 on a Dell Optiplex 755. I get to the screen where it it asks to select a hard drive, and it's blank. Says "No drives were found...click load driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation." Have tried switching from RAID/AHCI to ATA, and even legacy in the bios. Have also updated bios to most recent version. I've seen this happen with Dells preloaded w/ Vista, it always seemed like the bios switch from AHCI to ATA has worked. It has a single SATA 300GB drive and SATA DVR-RW.

I've tried loading the Intel matrix driver from Dell's site:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&releaseid=R173415&SystemID=PLX_PNT_P4_755&servicetag=&os=WV64&osl=en&deviceid=16825&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=1&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=41&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&fileid=235722

...it does find the ICH9 driver from the list (the only one compatible) and appears to install that but then still doesn't show the hard drive when I refresh.

What am I missing here?

Outlook 2003 Conflict With Win 7 VNC Connection
I THINK this is a network settings issue, but I can't figure it out. Situation...

Windows 7 (x64)
Outlook 2003
Trend Micro Internet 2010
VPN connection (to remote desktop at office)

When connected to the VPN, Outlook (on the local machine) will NOT transmit outgoing messages. When disconnected from VPN, Outlook transmits fine. Receive works all the time. I have several email accounts setup (with three different email hosts) none will transmit when connected to VPN.

The same connection works fine on when I boot to my Vista (x32) install (same computer, separate drive). But I noticed the Vista VPN connection used two services I cannot find in the Win7 VPN connection...

1. QoS Packet Scheduler
2. Trend Micro Common Firewall Driver

Tried adding these services to the Win7 VPN connection but they do NOT show up in the Add > Services list.

Tried turning off Win7 and Trend firewalls completely - no change.
Seems to be something else.

Question: Do I need these two services to get Outlook fully working w/ the VPN? If so, how dow I obtain them. If not, what should I change?

1. i tried deleting the upper and the lower filters.

2. i also flashed my mother boards bios to the current one .. performed a cumilative flash.. with all the bios versions flashed one by one as per the release date.

3. i also enabled my AHCI driver on my OS

4. i also uninstalled Nero8 as someone on a Forum had posted nero kinda blocks access to the DVD drive. for some particular scenarios. ( honestly did not belive that but still i performed the step )

5. also tried to test my DVD drive on various microsoft OS: XP professional sp 3 , Vista ultimate, windows 7 did not work on anyof them except.. in Vista Ultimate when i uninstalled my drive through device manager and reinstalled my drive the drive would let me read a DVD only once. once i remove my Disc and load anyother disc it would not read it.

6. i tried to rewire my drive by opening my cabinate and used another SATA port. still got no response.

Searching for a latest driver for my Drive but not able to locate it anywhere. if any one of you can direct me to the latest driver for my DVD drive model .

Optiarc DVD RW AD-7173A CD/DVD Drive Driver
I would like to do a custom install from boot as I always have, but I'm getting this message: "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD or USB flash drive, please insert it now. Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step."

Now I have been able to install by just going the upgrade route from  the desktop and am using Windows 7 as I type this, but I really want to do a fresh install booting from the Win 7 disk, but that message stops me in my tracks after the window that asks for location, language, etc. This is a widespread problem as Ive run across many instances looking for an answer, but mostly this seems to happen to the downloaded version and a wrongly burned ISO.

This is retail Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade I'm talking about. My PC is about a year old and is a Core2Quad on an Intel board, 500g hdd, 3g ram, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512. My optical drive is Optiarc DVD RW AD-7173A and that seems to be the snag I guess. What exactly is that message asking for? It seems I should be able to load the right driver from a USB flash and carry on. I loaded a folder onto a flash drive with every driver I could find that remotely was linked to that drive or controller and let Win 7 do a where's Waldo search hoping it'll search it out like a drug dog. Didn't work. What exactly am I looking for???  As it stands now I've got Win7Ultimate32bit installed and running, but I really want to load the 64bit disk and I cant do that with the Upgrade disk unless its done custom at boot.

USB Flash Drive / DVD Drive Problem
I recently ran into a very weird windows 7 bit problem after installing it on my desktop. I cannot copy large files/ holders into usb flash drive or write large files to cd/ dvd. The copying/ moving process would stay on for about 5-10 seconds then freezes then I get an error message. That is:

H: refers to a location that is unavailable. it could be on a hard drive on this computer...

I have all the latest drivers.

And windows/ nero 9 can't use my dvd drive to burn files.

Some info about my system: AMD X4 630 CPU. MSI KA780G (AMD 780G chipset) mobo. I have 2 sata hdds, non raid mode. The DVD drive is IDE. 4gb ram ddr2 ram. windows 7 64 bit.

DVD-RW Drive Functions Like A CD-ROM Drive
I have installed windows 7 RC. It's a clean install not an upgrade. But my DVD burner behaves like a CD-ROM drive it will only read CD disks but not DVD disks. It will NOT burn any cd disks and dvd disks. Its functionality got limited in Win7RC and beta. Some forums suggested me to remove upper and lower filters in the registry. I did that but no use.

I have tried 3rd party software such as Nero and roxio, then also it is not working. Another advise that I got is, itunes will alter the dvd behaviour. But I have no itunes installed in my system.  To find out whether it is a hardware problem, I installed linux in my laptop (dual boot). In linux the dvd drive is functioning well. That means, we can rule out bios and hardware issues. It worked well when Vista was running. I guess it is a problem with Win 7 RC and Beta version. Am I right ?

The device manager is showing that the drive is working properly and there is NO exclamation mark. In many forums it is mentioned that there is no exclusive  driver for optical disks. Windows is supposed to install its own driver for that purpose. Which it did, i.e. "cdrom.sys". My DVD model is  "TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L632M ATA Device"

When I plug in and use my Logitech VX nano wireless mouse/receiver, the internal mouse remains enabled which causes conflicts between the two devices. Shouldn't there be a feature/option in the control panel mouse applet to disable the internal pointing device? If there isn't one then isn't this an oversight in the design of the O/S?
