Changing Windows 7 HotKey Functionality
Is it possible to reconfigure the taskbar shortcut controls (reg hack?)I like Ctrl+Left Click as it brings the last active window to focus (which is great for MSN Messenger as it is daft to have to scroll through you preview windows to see who sent you the last message)But I dont want to hav to press CTRL+Left Click, I just want to Left Click to bring the last active window to focus. Is there anyway I can change this CTRL+Left Click function to be just Left Click?

Win 7 RC Codec Functionality
To anybody who was curious or has not yet taken time to check, the video codec lock has been removed from the release candidate. Windows 7 will no longer default to decoding content with the Windows Media Foundation instead of third-party codecs. I've been playing MPEG4 (DiVX and XViD) and H.264 content using FFDShow today.

Hotkey To Multiple Displays
I've been browsing the web to find an answer for my question, but with no luck. I use Windows 7 on a PC which is setup to be both an office and an entertainment computer. Therefore it's connected to two seperate screens with one graphic card. The screens are one 19" desktop screen (1280x1024) and one 40" Samsung LCD TV (1920x1080). When I'm browsing the web, working with documents etc. I use the desktop screen and when I watch movies, pictures etc. I use the TV. Now I'm trying to switch between them in an easy way. I've tried several third party applications but eventually found that the best way to switch between these in fact is to use Windows 7 built-in software. I've setup Windows to recognize the two seperate screens and I switch between them by using the "Multiple Displays" option in the settings. I then switch by using "show desktop only on 1/2". Do anyone know if this switch can be done by using a hotkey combination through Windows or through some other software? It's not the end of the world right clicking the desktop and doing it, but it'd be nice to save a few clicks every time.

Implement Ultramon Functionality For Multi-monitors
Ultramon enables the user to extend the taskbar to the new monitor, and only the programs/windows that are in the secondary monitor show up in the extended taskbar. It also allows for seperate wallpapers etc. Please Microsoft, it can't be that hard to implement such a useful feature into Windows.

Driver For USB Functionality Doesn't Work
I'm running the german version of Windows 7 x64, so here is the original message I get when I click on "USB" in the menu-bar: "Der für die USB-Funktionalität erforderliche Virtualisierungstreiber funktioniert nicht." It's something like this in english: "The driver necessary for the SUB-functionality doesn't work." The problem appeared after I installed VMWare if I remember right (didn't use XP-Mode for a while). It worked well before. All other features, like the integration features, work well. I uninstalled VMWare and reinstalled XP-mode but it didn't help. Any hints? Edit: SecurAble said "Yes" to the given features

Screen Saver Start - Hotkey Or Mouse
Is there a way to start a screen saver with a hot-key or a mouse gesture (or perhaps by putting the mouse into a certain corner for a certain amount of seconds)? I would like the ability to start the screen saver on command without going to the display option and clicking the preview button. For example, when surfing the web or watching a video, I would like to push alt-s or something similar, or perhaps move the mouse to a corner, and the screen saver starts automatically, right away, then acts normally as if it started by itself (meaning, it is "on" until I move the mouse or push a key).

Quick Launch, Option Toolbar, Hotkey
Window 7, Quick Launch, Task Bar Toolbar Option Is it true the registry hack is the only way to view Quick Launch? Desktop Shortcut keys / hotkeys were great with the window button on the quick launch for Vista. Example Win button + 2 would launch the second shortcut icon.

Media Key Functionality Problem / Remote Keyboard Keys Not Working
I already had a topic about this, but since its locked, and some people still seem to have this problem, ill post a new one. No one seems to have found a solution, but i just got one, and now i wish to share it with everyone having the same problem. Hope this is the right place where to post it. The issue: Neither are Microsoft xp media center remote (model: 1039) or Logitech G15 keyboard media buttons working. The cause: Obviously the situation to be fixed here is very rare, since there is no reason at all that the Service "HID" would be disabled, but seems in some cases this might happen. This is only a rough guess, but it is probably something to do with some drivers or updates you or windows have/has installed. The solution: 1. Open start menu located on your taskbar. 2. Right-click "Computer" and open "Manage". 3. At the left, under "computer management", you find "Services and Applications". Open it and select "Services". 4. Search for a service named "HID (Human Interface Device)" (or something VERY similar). 5. Once found, check the status. If the value is not "Started", start it. 6. To make sure it will be on also in the future, check the Startup Type value. If not "Automatic", right click it, and select properties. 7. Under the tab "General", change the Startup type to Automatic. 8. Apply and close. Note! If everything is already as above, the problem might be caused by wrong or old drivers, but with the remote control, this shouldn't be the issue. Hope this helped. If you are having problems understanding the above, check out the picture below containing the steps 1 to 4. >>This actually is not a question, its a answer<<

Changing Network Name
I have 2 copies of Win 7 installed, one on my lappy, the other on my main pc. My lappy can see all my files on the main pc and share the printer no probs. However my main pc cannot influence my lappy, although it sees it on the network. The only difference I can see in the settings is that my laapy network is named 'home' on the work network, and my main pc is part of a network called 'network' on work network. I guess I need to change the name of the network to 'home' on the main pc but can't find the route to do it. Funny the lappy can see the main pc but not vice versa. Any ideas folks?

I can't do anything about this but recover the system and so keep losing the softwares or other updates that I have installed.

Networks Keep Changing Type
I have what, to me, is an odd problem. My main machine has two NICs, one built on to the motherboard (for Internet) and one expansion card (for Lan). The problem is that Win 7 keeps changing the network profiles. After a couple of hours the Internet connection will change to a Work Network (from Public Network) and the Lan connection will change from Work to Public. I can always tell when it happens becuase I lose access to my storage machine. My other machine is running XP Pro and it's being fairly good about the whole thing :-) Is there some setting that I"m missing - maybe something labelled "Randomize Network Connections"? This is quite annoying. Any ideas?

Changing Default Printers
I installed Windows 7 and it included drivers for my Cannon MP620 and it works just fine. I shared this printer winth my other Computers and it worked Fine. When Windows 7 installed it made the Microsoft XPS Document Printer the defaul. I changed the default to the MP 620 and the printer no longer would be recognized by any of my 3 computers, including the computer it was installed on even though it showed in the Devices and Printers section. I changed the default back the the XPS Writer and then no printers would work. I tried doing a system resore and it still would not recognize the MP620. The only way I could fix this was a complkete re-install of Windows 7. Any ideas are welcome
