Certain Nvidia Video Drivers Make The Sound Panel Not Work

I noticed that 185.70, which supports Windows 7, caused the Control Panel > Sound to fail, whereas the 181.70 Windows 7 drivers fixed this issue.

My Frontal Audio Panel Doesn't Work - Drivers
I have a IV880-10 (viewed in CD) AsRock motherboard, "Intel core 2 cpu" , 4coredual-VSTA.

When I had winXP, the front audio panel works perfectly but now with 7057 they won't work. I had installed the last audio codecs from realtek but the motherboard drivers (from CD) are incompatible and they don't let me install it on the 7057.

I tried to install them with the compatibility mode (Vista and XP) , but after the restart Windows 7 was damaged and started a "restore system".

So... frontal audio don't are my life, but i like them because they are very confortable to connect my speakers to mp3, ipod, and nother devices.

I'm a little newbie about this, so please can anyone tell me what have I to do to make my frontal audio panel works?

Do I need to download the 4coredual-VSTA drivers from asrock.com ? (bios?, audio?, hdd?)

Or simply is the 7057 that in this moment doesn't support my motherboard front panels?

Win 7 Video Drivers From Nvidia
I have the RC version of Windows 7 installed and the WDDM drivers seem to work ok, but every time I update the drivers to the official WHQL drivers off nVidias web site they install fine but then DX10 fails to work (ie Hellgate London in DX10 mode). Is this a known problem or should a person just stick with the WDDM 1.4 drivers that come with Microsoft's update.

Problems With Win 7 64 Bit And Nvidia Drivers For Video Card GT 230M
I own a Vaio VPCCW1S1E notebook, cpu P7450, video card NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M (512 MB), operating system Windows 7 64 bit, and I am experiencing frequent system crashes, especially when using Matlab R2009b, but not only.

That is, the system suddenly restarts; by debugging the file .dmp created by Windows after the crash you can read:

In Nvidia web site there are available new drivers (the version installed on my laptop is 186.47, while on Nvidia web site there is 195.62 WHQL) for GT 230M, ma you cannot install them on my laptop since Sony uses personalized versions of Nvidia drivers, and Nvidia refers to Sony support to get updates of drivers.

Sound Drivers, Creative And Onboard AC97 Won't Work
I have onboard SiS AC97 audio and a Creative Sound Blaster Live! 24bit.  Using Windows 7 RC, I can't get either of them to work.  They both give a "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)".  I have tried every driver that I could find for both of them.  Nothing seems to work.  Is there are any known bugs that cause this?

Front Panel (case) USB2.0 Do Not Work
I have two PC at home with installing Windows 7 RC (build 7100). My computers are based on ASUS Motherboard P5Q-PRO and everything work good. Asus motherboard CD support with drivers and the other software do not work with options auto play and chipset drivers are not install regularly ok. I think that the chipset drivers are install from Windows 7 Update options but two front panel USB 2.0 ports do not work. In device manager are not register any problems with any component.

I please Microsoft technical team which they work on technical problems in new Windows 7 Operating System to answer me about this problem and some options to work this. In this time I have only this problem with no compatible hardware with Windows 7. All other USB 2.0 ports on back side of case work good.

No Nvidia Control Panel/driver Not Installing
Having a major problem trying to install the latest drivers for my 8800GT, I went to hook my rig up to my 42" LCD TV through the HDMI input (something I did all the time while on XP) after a clean install of Windows 7 X64. I noticed the desktop was to big for the screen so I went to install 191 driver so I could get the control panel to adjust it.

The install starts fine gets to the installing drivers box but then the install just hangs go's blank, comes back hangs then get a notice say something like "the system could not be updated......."

I've tired unistalling the drivers from the device manager and reinsatlling all in safe mode. The same thing happened trying to install the driver again and there was no "Display Adapter " in device manager. I then restarted and the card installed(the driver?) it's self again

When I check the driver version its 8.15.11.8618

Anyone have any ideas whats going?

How To Make Flash Work With 64 Bit Browsers ?
How to make Flash work with 64 bit browsers - Works for FLV type Flash Video.

We tell our 64 bit browsers to point to 32 bit programs all the time to open content. It does not Have to be embedded in the browser itself which is part of the the problem isn't it? ( aside from the fact it would not be using less resources due to it's being 32 bit)

So big deal.. just point the browser to use a 32 bit external flash application. But HOW?

I DID IT !!! Read On...

I have done more searching and I have found a working partial solution.. BUT it's the LONG way.

The trick is find a program that lets you download flash files..( I am using the free, Sothink Video Downloader) In my case it's .flv files like flash movies from You Tube I want to stream. (and I assume you are using firefox or seamonkey.. I don't yet know how to do this for an IE 64 bit browser) You won't be able to play the stream in the browser But, when your video downloader program finds the flv file on the page it will open and ask you were to download the file.. IT will have captured the .FLV URL from the you tube page.

Copy and paste that .flv url back into the address bar. (You do not have to let your downloader program finish downloading the file download the file) At this point the Helper Application will open a dialog box and then you point the FLV extention to the external flash player of your choice. I am using the SoThink Flash Player because it's small and free and takes little resources. Also check the box that says Always use this program to open this type of file.

Now you are set up and the file will play through your external player. The next time you want to view a you tube page, simply start the flash download app you have and copy the flv url and paste it back into the browser and poof, it will play. ( You do not have to continue with the download.. we are using this video downloader just to grab the flv url. )

If you get good at this, the process will take only a few seconds to do manually. This will work with some places but not all. It only works with the commercials at the beginning of HULU tv shows.. not the tv show itself.. I think this is because the flv url is too deeply embedded. I have not tested this with Google Video, just HULU and YouTube.. But it should work as long as you can capture the .FLV URL.

Well folks it's not perfect, but it's a start. Of course until Adobe makes a windows 64 bit flash plugin it's much easier just to use the 32 bit browser.. but hey.. this was bugging me so I had to try it!

In a Nutshell: First you use a tool to capture the flv url from the page then you feed it back into the address bar so the helper application will ask you to open it with an external player.. I used SoThink Video Downloader to capture the flv url, and SoThink Flash Player to pop up and play the file.. works nice as long as you can capture the flv url.

Perhaps some of you could take this idea and help me streamline the process or figure out how to get the deeper embedded flv url from hulu and places like it.

I would like to find a way to automate the process, perhaps with an extension. I feel if all the bugs could get worked out this would be a nice alternative until Adobe makes the proper plungin.

Make A Sticky Sound Profile
I'm one of those who just doesn't care for nearly any system sound, no matter how engineered or cool-sounding, and I really hate it that every time I change my desktop, my sound profile is changed back to a Microsoft default. I have my personal, minimalistic, profile saved, so I can pick it fairly easily, but having to take the extra step each time is a real step backwards for me functionally.

Are there any registry edits I could do make my own sound profile sticky?

Choosing An NVidia Video Card For Windows 7
I upgraded my XP system ( IBM 8291-E2U) to Windows 7 yesterday, knowing the video adapter on my motherboard was not fully Windows 7 compliant. My HP w2207 monitor's optimal resolution is 1068 x 1050 @ 60 ghz.

The video card I am considering is an : NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS 512MB DDR2 PCI Express Graphics Card

My concern is that this may not work with my mother board which is :

*Chipset*Intel i915G/GV/GL/P/PL/i910GL

Can someone comment as to the viability of this card and give me a process to follow from install to operation -- i.e. how to disable VGA and when ?

What Sound Cards WILL Work ?
Successfully installed Windows 7 (first try) on a ... 4ish year old pc. Athlon 3200(32-bit) 3GB DDR ram (Recognizes 2, same as vista) Nvidia 7600GS OC 512MB Video Card, 3 HDD.

Had no trouble at all with installation until it came to media center and the audio.

Hit the BSOD a couple of times attempting to update the drivers for the AC'97 audio which is popular on most MBs.

I am currently using the onboard sound provided by good old Realtek. But looking to just get a new soundcard anyway I want to know one simple question:

Has anybody installed win7 on their computers and not had an issue with the sound?!

What i get now is static on higher notes, and volume fluctuation like a slow wave in Media Center, which crackles at its lowest point.

Features I am interested in are a DIGITAL OUT (Especially through coaxial so I do not need to buy any more cables!)

-Sound blaster Audigy 2 SE works with the drivers from windows update

-Soundblaster live, only with kxproject drivers. WARNING: The windows update drivers give terrible sound.

Asus V9280 / Nvidia 8x AGP Video Card
Installed 32bit version on a generic Biostar MB with AMD 5600x2 and Asus V9280 8x AGP video card which worked fine in Vista and XP and was recognized on setup. There is a built in video but I have the AGP slot as first boot up choice. Win 7 sees the card as a generic VGA and won't accept the Vista 32 driver. I am using the Nvidia chipset driver for the Geforce FX5200 which is the chip on the card. Is there a better Win 7 driver for this card? I have installed this beta on four machines and this is only the second problem I have had with it.

NVidia Quadro FX 570m Video Card Issue
My video card [nVidia Quadro FX 570m (I think)] is not being recognized by Windows 7 RC. In the device manager, it says that I have a "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" rather than the name of the card.

I used this card with the Windows 7 beta and it worked flawlessly.

I had to manually download the correct drivers from nvidia as their automatic detector couldn't see the videocard-- when I tried to install them, again the drivers couldn't recognize the card. The drivers I downloaded were specifically made for Windows 7.

I saw a few threads that suggested I run the installers in vista compatibility mode, so, even though it's pretty absurd to install windows 7 drivers on windows 7 using vista compatibility mode, I tried and lo and behold it didn't work. I then tried using the device manager to manually point to the nvidia drivers and it didn't work.

I am stumped.

UPDATE 7/28 3 PM:

I tried another fresh install just for fun and I'm having the same problem, however this time around, I went to nvidia.com before installing any updates or drivers and it was able to detect my videocard and point me to the proper drivers. I got the same problem during installation though. "nVidia couldn't find any drivers for you hardware" or something like that. In addition to this problem, I discovered this morning that my laptop was super hot and had not properly hibernated last night, it was hung on a black screen with a flashing underscore like a command prompt. I also cannot put the computer to sleep: it is either shut down or hibernating, windows does not give me the option for sleep.

edit: I'd also like to stress that I had none of these problems with the beta, this is only with the RC...
