Cannot Set Resolution On Samsung SyncMaster

Win7 recognized the first Samsung SyncMaster on this machine (204BW) and set it properly to 1680 x 1050. But the second SyncMaster (206BW) was showing up as a Generic display.

Even after downloading the drivers for teh 206BW and setting them to be used for the second display, I still cannot get Win7 to allow me to set it to 1680 x 1050 so that I can duplicate the displays (one's inside a sound booth, one's outside, so they need to be duplicated, not extended).

Anybody run into a similar problem and know how to fix it?

The displays are running off of a Radeon X1600 series video card.

I'm using Windows 7 RC Build 7100.

I have a HIS ATI Radeon HD 4770 graphics card and a Samsung SyncMaster 2243NW monitor (native resolution of 1680x1050 @ 60 Hz) and I can't choose resolutions higher than 1600x1200.

I've installed the latest ATI driver but I can't find a Windows 7 driver for my monitor... Any solutions?

Samsung Syncmaster 933SN And Native Resolution
My monitor: Samsung Syncmaster 933SN won't display at it's native resolution which is 1360 x 768. It will only display at 1024 x 768 which only takes up 2/3rd's of the screen real estate!

I have the most updated driver for the monitor, 3.0.0.0 from Samsung, which says it works on XP, and VISTA 32/64, but for some reason Windows 7 isn't recognizing the native resolution. It was recognized easily on Windows Xp when I bought it a few months ago, so what can I do?

Can't Set Native Resolution For Samsung 22 Monitor
I don't know whether this is a Windows 7 problem or a Catalyst problem, but here goes...

I have installed Windows 7 (clean) and the latest Catalyst drivers for my ATI HD4850 card. My monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 2243NW, a 22" panel with a native res of 1680 x 1050. I have installed the monitor driver from Samsung's website and the monitor is now showing correctly in device manager.

When I right click on the desktop and choose "screen resolution", the "change the appearance of your display" screen offers only "display device on DVI" ion the drop down menu, not the Samsung monitor, and does not offer me the native resolution. The nearest is 1440 x 900. If I click "advanced" I'm taken to the catalyst driver screen which correctly identifies the monitor, but bizarrely still offers only the same choices of resolution as the Windows 7 screen. 1680 x 1050 just isn't there.

Can anyone help me get my monitor to run at native res in Windows 7?

Samsung SyncMaster 932MW
Here's my problem: when I turn my pc to sleep mode, everything is fine, but when I turn it back on it doesn't recognize my monitor anymore and the resolution is much to low. I've tried to put it back in control panel, but the right resolution isn't in there.

But, I've discovered that if you put it into sleep mode again and wake it up, it works perfectly again. Anyone who can help me solve this problem? It's very annoying.

P.S.: Excuse my English because I'm Dutch.

Samsung Syncmaster 2243bwx Issue
Appears to be a driver issue with my Lenovo X61 laptop when using the Samsung Syncmaster 2243bwx as an additional display.

Anybody else running into this issue?

The native resolution is too large and is mishandled and the resolution 1440 x 900 which fits correctly produces the familiar nonnative screen res look.

So the real issue is that the native resolution is mishandled .

Anybody seen something similar and have a fix?

Samsung SyncMaster 943NWX Monitor Problems
I have an old HP Pavilion t730m desktop pc. It has an onboard Intel 82865 G Graphics Controller, with a 19" Samsung SyncMaster 943NW lcd monitor and 2.0 GB Ram and Pentium 4. Currently it is running on Windows Vista Ultimate without Aero Effects, but everything else is working perfectly.

I would like to upgrade to Windows 7, as a matter of fact I've done it twice now, but whenever I do it I have monitor resolution problems, either I'm stuck with an 800X600 resolution or other options but not the current resolution of 1440x900 that looks great. So I have restored my backup of the Vista installation.

Sometimes when I change the monitor resolution, I get an incomplete screen display and a black bar on the right end of the monitor.

I would really like to upgrade to Windows 7 since my computer seems to run better than with Vista, but the screen resolution is very annoying.

Set Screen Resolution
Why can I not be able to view my Full resolution with this Win7? My monitor is able to go up to 1920x1200. My monitor is also certified for Vista/XP, this new Win7 is like Vista right? Why can't I set my resolution to it?

I need full resolution, not that crappy low resolution that it's at now. Someone please help, or Microsoft needs to FIX that.

Set Screen Resolution During Deployment
I'm working on setting up a base Windows 7 image, (base applications, unattend.xml etc...). and I'll need to support several hardware models. Up to this point everything is going well but I've hit a road block with screen resolution during deployment.  I understand I'll need to have the proper drivers available per model but after installing the correct drivers and after several reboots (deploying).

The computer will complete the installation and be at the ctrl-alt-delete screen with a resolution of 1024X768.  I did modify the unattend.xml and put the correct screen resolution and everything was fine (1440X900) but my here's my question:* how can i use one unattend to set the maximum resolution during the deployment process?

Set Lower Screen Resolution
I still use an old CRT 19" monitor (Philips 109p4). It displays best, sharpest picture at 1152x864.

But Windows 7 "thinks" and persists that my Philips should be fed with 1600x1200 image (it calls it "Recommended resolution") . But it's too much for my monitor - and the picture quality suffers (everything gets a bit blurry).

What's the problem, one could ask, simply go to the display settings and set the screen resolution to 1152x864. And here's where the tricky part begins! Windows 7 only pretends to let me set lower resolution!

The desktop size changes to 1152x864, but the nVidia graphic card still generates 1600x1200 image (which is confirmed by OSD function in my monitor). Thus the smaller desktop gets smoothly (with some kind of antialiasing or rather bilienear texture filtering) magnified (projected) to fit the big phisycal 1600x1200. Result - lack of sharpness.

I can understand that this trick may be usefull for some kind of users with some type of LCD displays. But in my case - CRT - this sucks big time!

How to make Windows 7 *RELLY* set the resolution to a lower one?

Cannot Set Screen Resolution 1600x1200
After I've been using the 7 beta for several days, during which I never had any problems with the display driver, I cannot set my screen resolution to 1920x1200 any more. The max. resolution 7 offers is 1600x1200, which looks really blurry on my screen.

I tried downgrading to a previous display driver version, I tried to change the resolution in the NVIDIA control panel instead of the 7 display settings, I reconnected my display, but nothing helped. I also installed the driver for my monitor (Acer x243w) instead of the generic monitor driver, but that did not make a difference.

The problem started when I returned from a business trip, during which I used a projector.

What can I do to fix this problem?

I have a NVidia Quadro NVS 160, driver version 7.15.11.7923 (latest from Windows Update). I also tried the previous (WDDM 1.0) driver without success. I'm using the x64 version of 7.

Monitor Resolution Out Of Range When Trying To Set 1680x1050
what a big ass step up in performance going from vista 32 bit to 7 64 bit, wow!

So anyway ive managed to get everthing else working on my computer but am having a problem setting the native resolution of my LG Flatron L204WS monitor. I've had a search in this part of the forums and couldnt find anyone with a similar problem so i hope im not posting another unecessary post!

Graphic card: 8800 GTX

Driver version: Windows update, the newest Nvidia Drivers for windows 7

Monitor cable: VGA, as this is all it supports

The problem: When trying to set the native resolution of my monitor to 1680x1050 im getting the message from my monitor that it is out of range, i think the setting for refresh rate is at 59hz and wont change to 60. I have located some LG drivers for the monitor and installed those and now windows recognizes my monitor in the advanced settings but not in the direct window of screen resolution. Could this be why? Or could it be related to the fact that the resolution atm 1400x1050 works with 59Hz but 1680x1050 does not work with 59Hz?

Ive seen a few other posts with people stuck on 59 and not being able to change to 60 but there has been no real solution found as of yet. I think i have listed all the relevant information needed for a bit of troubleshooting only if you were so kind to have a look and have a ponder

O yes there was one other very strange oddity, when i run a game such as Team Fortress 2, i can set my resolution to 1680x1050 and it runs fine, how very odd! Thats where this problem stumps me even more!

Can't Set Monitor To Native Resolution ( Widescreen, 1680x1050 )
after installing win7 i can't seem to set my monitor to native resolution 1680x1050, i can set resolution up to 1600x1200 only.

Tried to set custom resolution through nvidia control panel, checked to show non-supported resolutions and "forced" the 1680x1050 but it did not change a bit.

monitor's drivers are installed, all is in place and it should be working. Hope someone could give me a pointer what am i missing here.

specs:

monitor: HP w2007v 20" widescreen, native resolution 1680x1050
graph card: ASUS Gforce 8800 GTS 640
mainboard: ASUS P5K
cpu: Intel E6850
using nvidia beta drivers: 181.22 for vista 64-bit
OS: win7 ultimate testing build 7000, 64-bit

using drivers from windows update doesn't make any difference.

Syncmaster Driver Issue
I have a problem with the monitor driver, i have a samsung syncmaster 940bw i cannot get the driver to be recognized so i can get the native resolution, for you that dont know this monitor, on any other resolution other than the native the screen shows ALOT of blur what makes viewing of whatever impossible, i have tried using the driver that is for all windows but windows7 (x64) discards the driver and uses the pnp one, even with DriverMax the drivers wont be accepted,

i'm currently using the DVI input with powerstrip (on a radeon 3870) and i got it to force the native 1440 * 900 but on games the resolution wont be forced, because windows wont let the drivers do their thing i guess, i have tried using the vga but the screen gets corrupted, i have the beta Windows 7 ati drivers also, i'm very frustrated by this.

2 Different Errors On Win7 Set Up
I downloaded Windows 7 x64 and x86. i was in dubai last week and installed the x86 on my parents PC. works like a breeze and the installation couldnt have gone smoother.

I come back to melbourne and try the install on my PC and whether I run it through my current win7beta OS or whether i boot drom cd, both thr x64 and x86 give me error 0x80070241 around the 15% installation mark. after many attempts, i thought that i was perhaps because when doing a clean install, Windows 7 doesnt let you do a full format but only a quick format.

so i got a friends PC and did a full format. x84 installed upto 50% and gave me error 0x80070570.

Although, Win7 is a Great big step in the right direction, the UI is excellent, except the windows explorer, the Win XP style was much easier to navigate and use.
