Cannot Sync Samsung Omnia

have tried almost all the things in most forums concerning this topic. Of hundreds of attempts my device has synchronize twice or thrice in Vista. It does not even recognize the device when connected. Recently upgraded to Win 7 RC. Same problem in Win 7. Tried deleting the partnership, uninstalling and reinstalling WMDC. No difference. The last I tried - unistalled the drivers for the device and tried to connect it to have it reinstalled. The drivers do not load successfully.

Offline File Sync Errors
I have a user where he has a desktop and A laptop. Both are using Windows 7 Pro. Both the Desktop and Laptop have the My Documents mapped to a Windows 2003 R2 share. The desktop has its offline files disabled and just always talks to the server. Howerver alot of times when he goes to sync his laptop he gets "The file is in use by another process" even if his desktop is off. and just on the last couple of files that he worked on.

If we wait for like an hour or longer then hit sync again on the laptop it will work fine on the files that it could not sync before. I know that eveyone points to op locking when this error comes up but it works on all the files fine it just breaks on the last couple of ones he touched. And if we just wait and keep trying it will eventuly sync it.

Sync Folder With A Network Share
Im after trying to sync a folder from my laptop to a network share on a windows 2003 file server. Not exactly sure how to go about doing it. I would like files to sync both ways so any changes i make to the folder on my laptop get applied to the share on my file server and any changes to the share on the file server are applied to the file on my laptop.

I had a look at sync centre which i believe is 7's version of offline files. I made a test share on my file server and set it to "Always Available Offline"

Now where do i go from here? Is it just a case of setting the foder on my laptop to point towards the network share?

Unable To Sync Computers Over Ethernet Cable
I have just installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my laptop and now find that I can no longer sync (I'm using Syncback SE) over a patch cable between ethernet ports. I had previously been doing this quite effectively on Windows XP and my procedure was.

1. Both computers were in the same workgroup and accessed the same wireless network (secure).

2. Ethernet patch cable - usually showed up in the lower right corner as having 'limited or no access'.

3. Shared my user folder on the laptop (after disabling wireless for security - but this worked whether wireless was disabled or not)

4. Ran Syncback SE ver 4.1.3.0. and synced my files between the laptop and desktop.

Then I bought Win7U for the desktop, and the same procedure as above worked fine between Win7U-desktop and WinXP-laptop.

Then I bought Win7U for the laptop, and what happened next was odd :

1. It worked like a dream - really fast transfers etc, scanning very fast. I think that at this time I had somehow managed to put both in the homegroup but they were communicating over the ethernet.

2. As the sync was taking place I launched ITunes and synced my iPhone. It may be coincidence, but the ethernet cable connection was lost at that point.

3. Now I cannot re-establish the ethernet connection.

What is the correct procedure for achieving what I'm trying to do above ? Why does HomeGroup insist on using my wireless connection instead of using the ethernet cable direct connection ?

<whine on> In my close to 20 years of using Microsoft Windows, why haven't they managed to make two Windows PCs recognise each other and share files quickly and simply, like you can with that other OS.....<whine off>

Media Player USB Drive Sync
I have a 1GB USB drive that will convert ( to 192kps) and synch with the media player on Vista.

On upgrading to the Win 7 RC, the media player will find my library and play files. On connecting the USB drive it is found by the player in the synch tab. The drive synch settings are to convert to 192kps. Dragging and dropping files to the synch list results in no change in the drive residual capacity ( the list is populated). When clicking synch, no files are transferred.

If left at default settings, the files synch but are unplayable afterwards.

All works fine on Vista (dual boot)

Sync Center (and WMDC) Not Seeing Dell Axim
I have a Dell Axim X5, using Windows Mobile 2003. I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Before that, I was using Vista Ultimate x64, and had no problem connecting my Axim to my computer.

Now, I am trying to make my Axim work with Windows 7. After much hassle, I successfully installed the drivers. The Axim now shows up in: My Computer, Devices and Printer, and the Device Manager, all without any problems, errors, or yellow exclamation points. All says the device is "working properly."

However, when I open Sync Center, it does not see any device. Also, when I click on Windows Mobile Device Center, the application does not launch. The only thing that comes up is the Connection Settings screen, shown here:

Neither Sync Center nor WMDC seem to connect. Although wmdcBase.exe is running according to the Task Manager.

I have tried: uninstalling and reinstalling WMDC, updating via Windows Update, trying a new USB port, uninstalling and reinstalling the device drivers for the Dell Axim.

PDA Sync Deleted Key Material
I suspect this isn't a Windows7 issue, but it was Windows 7 that did it, and I'm impressed with the knowledge on here... My PDA stores all kinds of critical stuff, like diary dates, and expenses, and meeting notes, and all sorts.  I keep them in the diary bit because that's where I look most often.   I then back up by synchronising to the desktop PC regularly. Yesterday morning I set up the connection from the PDA (Windows Mobile 6.1) to the desktop synch in Windows 7 - and it worked fine.

Then, last night/this morning, using Bluetooth, it has deleted EVERYTHING from my PDA for dates prior to today, apart from repeating stuff like birthdays.  All that key information has disappeared.   I suspect it's on the desktop machine somewhere, presumably in Outlook, but I don't dare risk doing anything in case it deletes that too, and all is lost.

Does any kind person know how to persuade Windows 7 to restore all the historical stuff that was on the PDA?   I assume there's a setting somewhere that tells it whether or not to delete stuff from the PDA, and hopefully one to say "Put it back if you removed it".  But where...?

Sync Drive And Off Line Files Goes Offline / OnLine
I use a Buffalo Linkstation to store files off line and use Sync to update between them and my laptop.  Since going to RC the offline files go on and off line intermittantly with no rhyme or reason (Up to a minute in each state).

I am connecting via wireless but never had an issue before and I can still connect to other parts of the Linkstation with no problems aside from the directories that are part of Sync.  So, the problem is inside Sync for sure,  but where  == Any ideas?

Media Player 12 Converts M4a To Wmv On Sync
I have a Sony MWZ-A729 portable media player.

It supports AAC in mp4 & m4a.

I realise that WMP uses MTP to determine supported media.

The MTP file - capability_00.xml shows that m4a is supported fine.

<Audio>
 <Format>
  <Extension>mp4</Extension>
  <Extension>m4a</Extension>
  <MIME-Type>audio/mp4</MIME-Type>
  <MIME-Type>audio/m4a</MIME-Type>
 </Format>
</Audio>

When syncing mp4 it correctly does NOT convert to wma, only when syncing m4a files.

Media Player 12 Will Not Sync Audio Files To My USB Drive
I cannot get WMP 12 to sync audio files to my USB flash drive.  I previously used WMP 11 in Vista to sync and convert my WMA Lossless files into 128k WMA files for use with my USB-enabled car stereo.  WMP 12 gives me the following error message:

Your device requires that this file be converted in order to play on the device. However, the device either does not support playing audio, or Windows Media Player cannot convert the file to an audio format that is supported by the device.

Is there any way to make this work?  The files are not protected.  I am using Win 7 RC.

Set Up Sync Partnership With Folder On Another Computer On Home Network
I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit on an eMachines T5212 with 1GB RAM and an Intel Pentium processor. The OS is running fine. I have the T5212 running through an Airlink 101 Wireless Router, but the computer is hardwired to the router. Also on the network, hardwired, is an HP with AMD Quad Core 64bit running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

I want to sync the "pictures" library on both computers. I cannot find directions in he Help screens or online as to how to create a sync partnership with a folder on a network -- even though the Sync Center says this is possible. Searching through Bing only returns some questions related to Windows Vista, Windows Mobility, and PDA type devices.

How To Disable Automatic Offline File Sync Of Network Folders?
Since upgrading to Windows 7, I've been dealing with an issue that automatically syncs network shares located on my home server computer that I DIDN'T setup to be available offline. And I can't figure out a way to permanently stop the shares from syncing without disabling offline files entirely, what I don't want to do.

I have a server PC running Windows Home Server (Power Pack 2 installed), and 2 workstations running Win7 Ultimate. For whatever reason, Offline Files on the workstations keeps synchronizing my Videos and Music shares located on the Home Server, causing my local C: drive on each workstation to fill up. I have over 2 terabytes of music and video/TV and only 250GB of space on the workstations.

I never setup Offline Files in Win7 to sync with the home server or its shares. Nor can I find a way to permanently stop the sync. If I manually browse the server (by going to \homeserver), then right-click on the Music or Video shares, I don't see the tab for Offline Files options, so I can't disable/uncheck it there. If I go to "Manage Offline Files" from the Sync Center, then to "View Offline Files", I try to manually delete the shares from there but they won't completely delete. It doesn't give me an error, it just doesn't delete all the offline folders. It starts the process, but it never completes. And several days later they all reappear again. In addition, Offline Files reports errors from time-to-time that it couldn't fully sync my Music and Video shares because the cache is full. I know the cache is full. I just want to stop it.

The only thing I can think of is that I have Windows Media Center on the workstations configured to monitor the homeservervideos and Music folders. BUT, that shouldn't have anything to do with making them available Offline. Windows shouldn't take it upon itself to make an entire network share available offline just because I want a program to monitor files in the share. If that's what's happening, it's unnecessary and frustrating because it devours useful space on my workstations drives.

So my question is, how do I prevent Windows from automatically trying to make those two shares available offline??? They [the offline files] won't fully delete, and the Offline Files options are all gone when I right-click on the shares to disable/un-check.

Sync Error With Offline Files On Mapped Network Drive Involving Recycle.bin
If this is not the correct place to ask this, can you direct me?Windows 7 ultimate x64, I have a drive of one computer mapped to another computer as a network drive and made it available offline.  It is not the 'c:' drive of the computer it resides in. It is a data storage drive.When I sync, about 85% of it syncs, then I get 21 errors involving '$Recycle.Bin'. Then a sync failed notice.One of the biggest data folders does not complete synchronization.

The drive is a 250Gb drive about 1/3 full.Can I exclude the 'Recycle bin' from the sync process?If that is not possible can I remove the Recycle bin from the drive that is being mapped? If it's necessary to remove the recycle bin from the mapped bin, can files deleted from it still be recycled through the recycle bin on the OS 'C:' drive?
