Can I Use OEM Win 7 HP Product Key To Install 64-bit OS Off Of Retail Disc ?
I purchased in June a new computer from Dell with a free upgrade to Windows 7. Â I wanted 64-bit but was not given the option. Â I received my 32-bit upgrade disc from Dell. My brother purchased a retail upgrade and so he has both 32-bit and 64-bit upgrade discs. Â I know that I must do a clean install. Â I want to know if I can use his 64-bit disc to run my install but then use my upgrade key from Dell. So in the end I have 64-bit OS using my product key that Dell gave me.

Dell OEM Disk And Retail Product Key Compatibility
From my workplace I have been literally given stacks of Dell OEM (re installation DVDs) Windows 7 Professional disks. I have installed a couple of them on test machines and, naturally, do not pass the WGA. So I'm planning to buy a few 'retail product keys' from eBay to use on my home machines. I was wondering if the retail product keys (Win 7 Pro) will work with the Dell OEM disks. I have done the same thing with a Dell OEM Windows Vista Business re-installation disk and a retail product key bought from online used with a non-Dell computer with no issues (except the Dell logo is embedded in the Control Panel). Has anyone tried this before? Because I don't know if Dell has modified the disks to accept only Dell systems and OEM product keys?

Will Product Key For Win 7 64 Bit Business Upgrade Work With 32 Bit Install
I purchased several copies of Windows7 including the upgrade offer deal from Microsoft for Business. The upgrade CD came as a 64 bit which I will eventually install on my machine, but for the next several months I need to run 32 bit (legacy software which we are phasing out). Will the product key for the the 64 bit upgrade work with 32 bit install (I have a 32 bit Business which I have already installed on a different machine with its own product key).

Get Win 7 Professional Key But With Oem Disc
I got serial for Windows 7 professional from MSDNAA which my school is part of. I'm allowed to have copy of Windows 7 professional to my personal use. Problem is that our administrator has only activated x86 version of Windows 7 professional and I would need x64 version. I do have the serial key though. If I got serial key for Windows 7 Professional doesn't that apply to both x86 and x64 versions? I've got OEM disk of Windows 7 Professional x64. Does my serial apply if I install OEM version?

Dell OEM Upgrade Disc - 32 Bit And 64 Bit
I am slated to be invited to obtain the Windows 7 upgrade disc on or after Oct. 22 from Dell. Right now my machine runs Vista 32 bit. I have tested Windows 7 64 bit, which runs well. Actually much better than Vista 64 bit (provided by Dell at my request). Well, Vista 64 bit didn't run at all. But Windows 7 runs nicely in 64 bit. So, I am wondering if the Dell disc will come with both 32 bit and 64 bit versions; because I would rather install the 64 bit version. If it does not; do I work with Dell or Microsoft to get the 64 bit version? Is there an extra charge?

Difference Between Free, OEM Upgrade Key And Retail Upgrade Key
Is there any difference between the "Free" upgrade key to be received for a new computer purchased during the qualifying period, and a retail upgrade key?The last information I had is that the "Free" upgrade from HP/Arvato will not be shipped until after 11/12/09.I have retail upgrades previously ordered from Best Buy. Can I use one of them to upgrade the new computer and use the "Free" upgrade to ugrade a different computer?

Answer File Product Key OEM Installs
We've been doing Vista installs using answer files made with the SIM. Inside each answer file for each version of Vista had it's own different product key that was used to enter during unattended setup. I beleive these keys were provided to OEM's to use for this reason only, and aren't valid keys to activate with. Does anyone know if Windows 7 has these keys available also? Again, these are all OEM loads.

Upgrade Vista HP OEM To Win 7 Full Retail
I've bought a Win7 HP Full package and my friend has a laptop with Vista HP OEM. Is it possible for him to upgrade to Win7 if I sold him my Win7 HP package?I have not yet asked him to run Win7 Upgrade Advisor but I will do so next time I am in contact with him. I just need to know is there any chance this would work?If you must know, my reason fro selling is that I got my hands on some Win7 Pro keys from MSDN AA with an account from school but only after buying Win7 HP Full as a preorder. Now I'm stuck with a Win7 HP Full which I don't need anymore.

Can I Install Win 7 X32 Bit Then Later To Win 7 X64 Bit With Same Licence Key ?
I currently run Windows XP x32 bit Operating System. I have ordered the "full retail" version of Windows 7. I understand that 2 discs will be enclosed in the box, one for installing Windows 7 x32 bit and the other for installing Windows 7 x64 bit. I understand that I need to choose whether I want the x32 bit or x64 bit Windows 7 Operating System and install the 1 I choose at that point. I am quite happy with that. However, what I would like to do is initially install the Windows 7 x32 bit system and in about 6 months (when I have upgraded my hardware sufficiently) then move on to the x64 bit Windows 7 Operating System.  Can I do this with the same 1 licence that comes with the full retail version I have just ordered or will I need to buy another copy of Windows 7 ? It would not bother me if I had to do a "clean install" to move from x32 bit to x64 bit.

Vista OEM + Win 7 Upgrade = Win 7 Retail?
This is not a question about the logistics of installing the OS -- I've already found out that you can do a clean install with the upgrade media. It is more a question of what I am entitled to do with my Win7 license (does it retain the OEM limitations or is it a retail version)? When I buy the Win7 upgrade am I "destroying" my Vista OEM license and creating a Win7 Retail license OR do I now own a Vista OEM and Win7 OEM license which are both tied to the same machine?  Specifically I am concerned with the following scenario: I currently own Machine 1 with Vista OEM installed on it. I purchase Win7 upgrade, so now I have Machine 1 with Win7 on it. In a year or two I plan on building a new machine, let’s call it Machine 2. I am going to take Machine 1 out of service completely or install an old retail copy of XP on it at this time. Am I licensed to install Win7 on Machine 2 OR is that license stuck with Machine 1?

Using Upgrade Key On An Retail Install
I have purchased 2 retail copies of Windows 7 Pro for 29.99 with my student discount. If you have questions as to how I achieve this go to this thread Full Retail Version of Pro For Students only 29.99 I now have another computer that I want to put Windows 7 pro on. I am thinking about purchasing an upgrade key and just using the retail version to install so I don't have to reinstall Vista in order to do the upgrade. Anyways, do you think I could purchase an upgrade key, install with my retail disk without filling out the product key and then activate with the upgrade key?

Win7 32 / 64 Bit Cd Keys, 32 Bit Install Disc
This morning I attended a Windows 7 Launch developer presentation as part of the New Efficiency. We were given copies of Windows 7 Ultimate at the end of the presentation, however I was disappointed to find it was only 32-bit. It says so on the disc. My question is, is there somewhere I can get a hold of a copy of Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit (say, a download site?), and install it with my CD key I was given? Also, am I right in assuming that my CD key will work for both 64 and 32 bit?

I have preordered Win 7 and I need to know if I need to cancel the upgrade and purchase the full retail version.

Full Upgrade, Retail Or OEM
Are all the pre-order deals for upgrade software rather the full retail versions? I have shelled out quite a bit on WinXP over the past few years and more recently due to both desktop and laptop falling over at the same time. I want to be able to install any new operating system I buy on new hardware when that becomes necessary. I have to be very sure. I am not wasting any more dosh on OEM versions. It seems to me that just because you get a full version rather than an upgrade, that is something different to the license being OEM or Retail. Full or upgrade version is not really the issue (although full is obviously better). For me it is about the license to install on new hardware as I upgrade that without buying a new copy of windows. Does 'full' also mean that the install will not be tied to a previous copy of windows being installed first (or having the key for that version to hand)?

Xp Retail Or Xp Oem To Upgrade To Win7
i use xp pro sp2 retail on my main well gaming rig. i ordered the Windows 7 hp upgrade and will ship 10-22-09. if i read right. when i upgrade to Windows 7 my key for my retail xp pro sp2 will be no more good. i will not be able to install or use my retail xp again. is this right? well. a bud sent me a oem sp3 copy of xp pro some months ago. its still sealed and i never opened the package. i am afraid of sp3 is why i have not used it yet. so.. but. my question is and if i will lose my retail xp key if i upgrade to Windows 7. should i upgrade to Windows 7 using my oem xp sp3 disc. and keep my retail key etc. so. id guess first i need to back up and save what i need to keep. files etc. then nuke reformat and install my oem xp. just basic install and i guess register it. and then upgrade fresh install Windows 7. if this will work im fine with it. yes its the extra steps to first install the oem xp version maybe. but id like to save my retail xp key. i do have another computer i guess i could use xp on for a while to come. i have not been using my second pc. ive been afraid to install or use xp sp3.. so i have not used my oem xp sp3 yet.

Upgrade Or OEM (from Retail XP Pro)?
My main home desktop PC is assembled from parts (motherboard, CPU, RAM, HDD, video...) I periodically upgrade to keep performance and storage in line with my evolving needs / software. It currently runs a retail license of Windows XP Pro (BTW how do I verify this from the product key?), not an OEM license I had purchased with some motherboard.I am planning a Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade, but the cost of an upgrade license is about €279 instead of the €167 for which I can get an "OEM" license. Quite a difference.Which one should I use? If I go for the OEM version, will I be able to upgrade CPU or motherboard or anything in the machine in the future?I've read related threads but they have an OEM version of XP or Vista as the starting point.

Putting Retail Version On OEM Computer
I did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate on my dell computer. When I was deleting partitions I noticed a Dell OEM partition. It was very small so I didn't delete this. My thought was, if I ever wanted to sell this computer I would need to put Vista back on the computer and was afraid that my OEM disk would not work because I had deleted the partition. I want to be able to put any computer back to the same state when purchased in order to avoid locking my Retail Version to one computer. Does this little OEM partition have any bearing on the ability to revert the computer back to the original state? If so, those of you putting retail might want to keep that partion available.
