i notice it only happens when i connect to any voip conversation, whether using skype, xfire, steam, you name it. sometimes after the call the spikes stop, other times they don't. the spike causes lag spikes in games and flash videos (Internet for example), which is quite annoying?
View 1 RepliesIt seems that when I leave my laptop alone to go into sleep mode, the CPU keeps spiking at rather random intervals. Sometimes it spikes to 30% on one core just for a second.I have it set to dim display at 5 minutes, turn monitor off at 15 minutes, and to sleep at 20 minutes. It seems that just before the screen turns off, at about 14 minutes the BFE service and svchost.exe (defragsvc) take up about 50% of my CPU!!I have also seen the ssdp discovery service running and taking up some CPU power aswell?So far I have run a full scan of Microsoft security essentials, Malwarebytes anti malware, and Spybot search and destroy, none have found anything at all.Before the reformat I haven't experienced anything like these spikes. I don't know if that's because I haven't been paying attention to it this much, or if something has infected me, or if something is wrong with my windows 7 installation...
View 2 Replies View RelatedHave been optimizing my windows 7 alot recently, i always do it when i reformat as it runs alot more efficient. Something i never did though was get my latency down. I had an issue were my latency was spiking to 1700, so i uninstalled my network driver and that brought my ping down alot, it spikes as high as 160 roughly. Is that fine for gaming or should i expect alot less? I have done the ping fix and other various tweaks to my nextwork and that seems to be the lowest i can get it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedCertain audio CD's stutter when played and I am wondering what to look to change as to settings to resolve the issue.When running Resource Monitor, the CD's that stutter are showing that the "CPU", "Network", and "Memory" are all operating in the middle of the charts, but "Disk" is spiking at 100% and then dropping to lower values and then spiking again.Only certain commercially recorded CD's demonstrate this behavior such as Trans Siberian Orchestra, while others like BIllboard and such do not stutter and do not spike on "Disk" and play normally.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a VoIP phone connected through USB. It worked fine under winXP32, but win7x64 won't recognize it.
The problem is that the manufacturer (Premier) doesn't even have a website, because it's probably some cheap sub-brand or something. Eitherway, I can't find suitable drivers! Is there a multi-device driver for usb handsets or something, or should i throw the thing in the trash and get a newer one (which ofcourse I don't want to do)?
Is there anyone can tell me what softphone is best or excellent for my windows 7 OS? I tried 3cx, but seems hard for me to use it, i also have skype but i uninstalled it coz it has bad call quality.

When we connect to the network (either directly, or through a router or switch) only the phones will connect and work.
When we try to connect our machines we get the error "local are connection doesn't have a valid ip configuration"
