CHIMEI CMV 221D Widescreen LCD Monitor Monitor Issue

I have a CHIMEI CMV 221D widescreen LCD monitor (22"), native resolution is 1680x1050.

Under Win7 RC 64 bit with a 8800GT, this shows up as Generic PnP monitor (I can't find drivers for it anywhere).  However, while in Crysis, there are several display resolutions that do not stretch to the full size of the screen. Under XP, only supported resolutions show up.  I installed the latest 186.18 nvidia Windows 7 64-bit drivers.

There is also a setting in the nVidia control panel for non-native resolution scaling.  This seems to be broken.

However, when I am not playing a game, and change the resolution of the screen via the desktop, the screen modes work and scale correctly.

Second Monitor Not Found, Primary LCD Monitor Shows As CRT
I have Win 7 Pro installed and working. Display adapter is an ATI Radeon 3870 x2. I have tried drivers from windows update, ATI, and Hanns-G (manu of my monitors). My primary display is showing up as a CRT with and without the driver. My secondary display stays blank and goes into standby mode. Neither problem changes before, during, or after installing any software. I have tried both x64 downloads of ATI software.

Currently, windows update's drivers show my display adapters as the right models. (2 gpus on one card, obviously)

Does anyone have suggestions? I am completely at a loss after many hours of frustration.

Widescreen Monitor
I have a 22" widescreen monitor I have set my resolution to 1280x720 and everything is just the way I want it. Except when I open a browser IE8 for example everything is "crunched" not stretched. I'd rather have it stretched, and I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to fix this.

Problem With A Widescreen Monitor
Well, I using a 32" LCD TV as my primary monitor, it runs well at 1360x768 but I got the problem when a game runs in 1024 x 768 or other 4:3 resolution its not possible to stretch the image cause Windows 7 RC put the game in the middle and there are dark areas to both sides of the centered image. Thats really annoying, I never got this problems with 7000 release. Anyone got some idea about this issue? When its a feature, how to turn it off?

Im using a Nvidia 9800 GTX with the latest Windows 7 Beta Drivers from Nvidia.

LCD TV Vs. LCD Monitor
As the topic suggests, which one is better? LCD TV or LCD monitor?

Also, why in the world do LCD TV's have a lifespan in hours (ex 60,000 hours) associated with them?

What would happen after the lifespan expires?

Sorry if these are n00by questions but considering I am just now gonna shift to LCD monitor from my 2002 15" CRT, yeah I'm a certified n00b!

Maximizing Widescreen Monitor Vertical Real Estate
With widescreen monitors, which are pretty much the standard these days, there is always plenty of horizontal space, it's the vertical space that is at more of a premium. To take advantage of this I've done 2 things - First, I moved my taskbar to the left side of the screen, this gives me that much more vertical space in all programs.

The second thing is program-specific. I use Firefox and I certainly spend more time in it than any other program. I've installed 2 two add-ons, Vertical Bookmarks Toolbar and Compact Menu. They do just what their names imply - the first places my bookmarks toolbar to the left (or right, if you prefer) of the screen, the second compacts my entire Menu toolbar to a small icon that sits in the upper-left corner of the address bar. Getting rid of these 2 horz menu bars gives one a nice little chunk of additional real estate. It takes a bit getting used to, but once you do, it's great.

Resolution Not Sticking On LCD Monitor
Grandma's computer - trying to troubleshoot from Chicago for a computer located in California. About to kill myself. Please help.

Graphics card on computer is an integrated Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset Family adapter. I purchased a VGA splitter so that she can connect it to her LCD monitor and Plasma TV.

The monitor's native resolution is 1680 x 1050. HDTV is 1280 x 768.

My grandma complained that the resolution was messed up (I later learned that it was set to 800 x 600). I asked her to set the resolution to 1680 x 1050, but when she does, she gets the message that "the current input timing is not supported by the monitor display." I checked the refresh rate -- it was set to 60hz. None of the other 1.6 ratio resolutions would even show up on the available list of resolutions.

I had her plug the LCD monitor directly into the computer (sans splitter). No error message. The resolution stuck right away.

So, how do I use this splitter and still get 1680 x 1050 on her LCD? I don't even want to know what will happen to the TV's resolution when we do this, but I can pray.

Viewsonic VX2433Wm LCD Monitor
I came across this Viewsonic LCD Monitor which looks quiet appealing and of course, being manufactured by the leading display technology company of the world Viewsonic! Heres the link to the product:

Viewsonic VX2433wm (24inch HD LCD Monitor)
http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktop-monitors/lcd/x-series/vx2433wm.htm

Now here's what I need to know:

My main use of an LCD Monitor will be to:

*   Watch Movies (Which should include a DVD & High Definition (HD) Quality Videos).
*   Play 3D and Normal Games.
*   Movies like Jurassic Park, Speed, Titanic, Action Movies, etc...
*   Web browsing, doing back work on PC, Listening to music.

So, this in short will be the purpose of using a new LCD Monitor. So far, I am using CRT Monitor.

Once you have gone through the above link, could you kindly let me know how well would this Viewsonic LCD Monitor fair in terms of my above mentioned usage.

BUT NOW HERE's A TwIsT >>> While looking forward to buy an LCD Monitor, one question that kills my decision of buying it is that What if a Touch Screen LCD Monitor will be made available once Windows 7 releases to users. Then would all these LCD Monitors sold out today will be consider completely outdated not only in terms of technology but features as well. However, there are few things that comes to my notice for going with an LCD Monitor and not a Touchscreen one...

a) Touch Screen LCD Monitor is for sure going to be costly for at least upto a year right from its initial date of release.

b) There is simply no assureness whether the first phase of Touch Screen LCD Monitor released for Windows 7 would work well for its users. Now you see, this is the reason why its being said to always wait and watch till the time everbody has tried its hands on the product b'coz that exactly is the place from where the bug will arise therefore in the 2nd and 3rd phase, these bugs will be sorted out and a fresh stocks of the product completely free of factory defects will be released to the market.

I believe to always wait for the 3rd phase of the product to be released and then buy it b'coz if will not only completely be free of defects but would also contains tons of additional features at times and considering these, one could understand how terrible impact could be created on the 1st phase that users have already purchased in their over excitement to try them out.

c) Also, touch screen as seen in the past have not achieved much success since everybodys fingers are slightly big in size to click on the options which turns out to be smaller most of the times when compared to your fingers.

Can't Set Monitor To Native Resolution ( Widescreen, 1680x1050 )
after installing win7 i can't seem to set my monitor to native resolution 1680x1050, i can set resolution up to 1600x1200 only.

Tried to set custom resolution through nvidia control panel, checked to show non-supported resolutions and "forced" the 1680x1050 but it did not change a bit.

monitor's drivers are installed, all is in place and it should be working. Hope someone could give me a pointer what am i missing here.

specs:

monitor: HP w2007v 20" widescreen, native resolution 1680x1050
graph card: ASUS Gforce 8800 GTS 640
mainboard: ASUS P5K
cpu: Intel E6850
using nvidia beta drivers: 181.22 for vista 64-bit
OS: win7 ultimate testing build 7000, 64-bit

using drivers from windows update doesn't make any difference.

LCD Monitor Loses Contact With Computer
1. Computer, at start up, sometimes can't find my monitor. Only way is to start the computer with the monitor switched off; then turn the monitor on at a certain time during the booting process (when I here a motherboard-beep). Occasionally the connection will be broken anyway (and I'll have to mess with the 'reset/-start button). I generally get to the motherboard page and BIOS settings. But sometimes not even that and then the only solution is to leave everything off for a while (minimum a couple of minuts – but not exactly sure).

2. Computer lose monitor when it to goes into sleep mode. This only happens if I leave it inactive for a long enough time. I can usually retrieve it if the display's gone out only for a short while, as usual - by pressing keyboard or moving mouse.

My hope is to find a solution that doesn't involve buying a new monitor.

NOT Compatible With XEROX XA7-192i LCD Monitor
So i have a XEROX XA7-192i LCD Display (19'') on a ASUS Ati Radeon EAH 4850 graphics card (with DVI connection only), and a ASUS M3N HD HDMI motherboard (AM2 socket, AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ processor). The problem was that in some points while playing games in XP, the monitor just stopped, displaying "NO SIGNAL". At first i tought that it's my gfx card overheating or something like that. Then i wanted to install Windows 7 RC1.

Surprisingly, after the boot logo, my monitor went dead again (displaying NO SIGNAL and entering in stand-by). So i've tried with the on-board graphics adapter (nVIDIA GeForce 9200 i think) but same result. I really couldn't think of anything, i couldn't enter in safe mode because it said that at first boot-up i need to start it normally... but i couldn't see anything. So... i came back to good old XP. Well, after reinstalling i had the same problems as before in some games... just at some point the monitor went in stand-by with NO SIGNAL message.

After a few days i decided to install my LCD drivers (i know i was dumb, the first time i had XP they were installed but i guess not so corectly but after reinstalling XP i just forgot about monitor drivers), and.. surprise... after installing the LCD drivers there were no more problems.

Now, i've read on forums that pleople had the same problems with Vista and 7 (beta and RC) - so i guess Microsoft didn't do anything to correct this in Vista or 7 RC either (i didn't use Vista so i don't know if it would have worked for me).

I would aprectiate if someone could confort me that in the final version, this problems will be obsolete... - i think including the LCD drivers for all LCD's would be a solution... - because i would really like to use this release of Windows... I would have reported this from Windows 7 but... i couldn't install it and i didn't know where elsewhere to write.

I am running windows 7 64 bit under dual boot and have 2 devices that  I am running that I am wondering if microsoft has any win 7 64 bit specific drivers for .

1 . I have a turtle beach Montego DDl sound card that windows doesn't even see so obviously no sound and I don't want to unplug the speakers from the sound card and plug it into the onboard audio I trieds  the open source code drivers @ code.google.com/p/cmedia.drivers and they don't seem to be able to install under windows 7

- I am using a MSI p45 Platinum mobo in case it matters

2. The other device is a lg 2300c Lcd monitor that works fine in generic mode but the drives that came on the disk won't work with win 7

Other than these  2 everthing else I have found drivers for or the win xp drivers work fine and generally win 7 seems to be a really good rc release..

Dual Monitor Display Cut Off On One Monitor - Nvidia Gtx 280
I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and am experiencing a dual monitor problem using my nvidia gtx 280.  I am using driver version 8.17.11.9562 according to control panel.  One monitor is an ASUS 19" and the other is an ASUS 22".

The left 19" monitor displays perfectly but the second 22" (right monitor) has the display shifted hoirzontally to the left so that part of the screen is cut off.  I have tried to adjust this using the monitor's horizontal adjust feature but even when it is adjusted 100% to the right (deFault is 50%) part of the display is cutoff.

Does anyone know of another way that this display can be corrected?

RC1 Dual Monitor - Installs On Wrong Monitor
I have a dual monitor system - the video card is an NVidia GEForce 8800 with two DVI outputs.  I use the second monitor sparingly.  My BIOS boots to the "primary" monitor, and during the install of RC1, most of the dialog occurred on this monitor.  I have set up a dual boot system with Vista and W7 and Vista runs just fine on the primary, and I can turn on the secondary at will.

So far so good. However, during the last phase of the install of RC1 (this also occured with the first beta), the final output and startup of RC1 occurred on the secondary (!) monitor.  It first seemed as though the install hung - the primary simply showed a black screen even though it had been active thrtought the install.

I turned on the secondary, and there was all the final install dialog display.  I finished the setup there, and then set my main monitor to be primary and now all is well. The fact that some of the install output displays on the secondary monitor is a problem (especially if I don't happen to have that monitor turned on).  The entire install should display on the BIOS boot monitor, I should think...

Dual Monitor Issue, Secondary Monitor Is Undetectable
I have just did a clean install of Windows 7 ultimate from XP and I am unable to get my dual monitors to work like they did in XP.

I have a DVI Radeon graphics card plugged into the agp slot, and a Nvidia geforce vga adapter plugged into a pci slot of my dell optiplex 755. When I am in the screen resolution settings the second monitor cannot be detected.

In bios I have 2 options under primary video adapter and they are auto, and onboard card. When set to auto the Nvidia card gets a signal but the Radeon does not. There are no conflicts in the device manager, and all of the drivers are up to date.

When I change the bios option to onboard card the Radeon adapter gets a signal but the other monitor cannot be detected and in device manager there is a yellow exclamation mark next to Standard VGA adapter and a code 10 error that states the device could not be started.

I have powered down, and unplugged every cable, I also tried to use the integrated VGA adapter to the Intel G31/G33/Q33/Q35 Graphics Controller but the computer will not even boot. I get

"System Halted

Attention Unsupported Video Configuration Detected"

I have two monitors, both work fine as standalone but Windows will not detect either as a secondary.

Please help me someone, I am so used to having my helpdesk email open in one monitor and all of my other work in the other monitor.

Dual Monitor Bug - Monitor 1 Crashes
My primary monitor (1)  now causes system to be unuseable after it reaches the sleep mode.  I just converted to Win 7 Premium from  32 bit VISTA, where everything worked ok.  Windows stays alive if I duplicate the 2 screens because my second monitor still works.

Both monitors are DEll E207WFP.  The card is a NVIDEA 7300LE.  Everything was ok until I upgraded 2 days ago.

After reaching the sleep time, the monitor becomes DEAD.  I setup the screen saver, but the monitor 1 would not awaken, even though it shows the pictures until I use the mouse to awaken the system.

Mon 1 is DVI.  Mon 2 is VGA connected.

System might stay up if I tell monitors to NEVER sleep --- a waste of energy.

I first noticed the problem when I went away while backing up the system and my primary monitor never could recover.  The monitor sleeps forever so a power off / power on is mandated.

My Monitor Gets Reset To Generic PnP Monitor
I am running Windows 7 using a Nvidia GeForce 7200 GS video card. After every time the computer goes to sleep, it loses its display settings for my monitor (a ViewSonic G22fb CRT), and resets to the default Generic PnP monitor.

To return to my display settings, I need to go to the control panel, adjust resolution, and click on the "detect" button.  After that, the computer recognizes my Viewsonic G220fb again, and returns the display settings, including resolution to my adjusted settings.

Taskbar For Each Monitor With Multi Monitor
Is there a possibility to have a taskbar on each monitor, optionally containing only the programs which are on that monitor?

I doubt this feature is available as I just found the following entry within the support: "Find the taskbar" which is stating "If you're using multiple monitors, the taskbar will only appear on one monitor."

So my suggestion is adding the feature.

Plus showing the alt-tab-window on all monitors.

Multiple Monitor Detection With Only 1 Monitor
i'm running Windows Seven Professionnal from my msdnaa account, and i have an annoying issue.

every start i start my computer everything is ok, bug after windows seven welcome message, when windows launch a screen detection runtime (i think), it detect me multiple monitor randomly (sometime 1, sometime 2 or 3). I have only 1 monitor, a samsung syncmaster 2233Rz.

The issue is more annoying that it look, sometimes windows make an extended desktop with the "virtual" monitor (mouse can go out of my screen), but sometimes windows display only on the virtual monitor, and turn off my real one. (i hear sound so i know windows is not crashed).

If i unplug/replug my monitor, sometimes it relaunch detection and the display go back. But most part of the time i need to reboot, and hope this will work.

I think first at a driver issue, i triyed different one and nothing was better.

I triyed the RC before and it did the same issue. I was hoping where better in RTM :(

maybe there is a way to turn off automatic display detection ? i try removing flag of TMM in registry, desactivate Nvidia interfaces services, but nothing change.

My configuration :

Phenom X4 955
Motherboard gigabyte MA770T
Geforce GTX275

I remove the battery, but with no results.

Model of laptop is fujitsu siemens, model of monitor is samsung.
