Boot Screen Reverted To Low Resolution Green Bar
I resized a couple of my partitions, so I had to rebuild my BCD. No problems there. However, when I log into Win 7 now, the animated high resolution boot screen reverted to the low res green bar with Microsoft Corp underneath. I am stumped as to how to reenable the high res boot screen.Â
- first rebuilt the BCD entirely using the DVD: no joy
- used bootrec /fixmbr and bootrec /fixboot from DVD: no effect
- The NoGui flag in msconfig is not set (toggled it, when ticked there is no gui :P, unticking it again yielded the low res screen again)
Â
Anyone here have more ideas on this?

Boot Screen Reverts To The Old Vista Style Green Bar
I, too am missing the WIndows 7 "Starting Windows" Orb boot screen. My system has reverted to the old vista style green bar. I have tried the bcdedit command multiple times, but to no avail. My Monitor is a 27" LCDHD connected using component cables. I've also tried DVI, but that didn't change anything. Anyone have any ideas as to how I can correct this?

Boot Screen Reverted To Vista After Repair
I had Grub and Kubuntu, then was done with linux for the time being, so i cleared the partition that it was on, and when i restarted grub was giving an error etc, so all i could find was my vista 64 cd, and after some reading on MS support pages, being that they used the same loader to fix it with that dvd. So i ran this in the cmd prompt: bcdedit /export c:BCD_Backup attrib bcd -s -h -r ren c:ootcd bcd.old bootrec /fixmbr bootrec /fixboot and everything was dandy, it fixed the loader.... but put the vista boot screen(the simplistic screen with the loading bar) so i go access to my windows 7 iso, burned it, and re did the same process (but used the repair option first cuz it asked me and i figured it would be easier) and then ran the same commands to hopefully refresh the loader w/ the possibly newer windows 7 one(mainly for the boot logo) but its still showing the old vista logo i know this seems silly but how can i fix it back to the newer windows 7 one?

My Computer Folder Hangs With Green Bar And Will Not Display Any Folders
I now have this problem on no less that 3 PC's with the W7 Evaluation 7100 build. Spontaneously and at random times, explorer just hangs when trying to access the 'Computer' section to display my local and remote drives. It has completely destroyed any hope I had of W7 actually being better than any other windows product, and makes working impossible without having to reboot every 30 mins. I have updated ALL my drivers and even my PC that's only been built 3 days has this problem. I know all about msconfig and selecting selective start up and disabling all programs, sure this works for a while - but sooner or later it just hangs again. It also behaves itself under a normal 'all programs enabled' start up for random amounts of time, before it decides to lock me out of my drive locations (and eventually it crashes explorer that needs to be forced to close and restarted). The really annoying thing, and the thing that suggest to me that's it's an OS issue is that windows explorer if perfectly accessible through every single installed program - even when the explorer 'computer' window is hanging. Just open the 'open file' tab of any program and all drives under 'computer' are perfectly accessible and functional. Any ideas?

Mouse Resolution Too Low At Hightest Setting
I run 8 monitors 1900 X 1200 res. I need to move the cursor around all 8 with a 3 inch movement of the mouse, i.e. a flick of the wrist. As it is I have to move the mouse across the pad, pick it up and swipe it again and again to get around all 8 monitors. This with the resolution set to MAX. If this cant be resolved, I won't be able to use Windows 7.Â

Screen Resolution Resets Itself Upon Boot
I am getting desperate now - just installed a fresh retail version of Win 7 Home Premium and am really annoyed to find that it changes the resolution back to 1280x1024 every time I do a cold boot (does NOT happen when doing a restart). This also happened with the RC, but I put that down to that being a Release Candidate (I did report the issue ....). I do like a res of 1152x864 and hence I change it to that via the "Screen resolution" option ... but as stated above this is reset to 1280x1024 every time I do a cold boot (strangely not when doing a restart .....). I have installed the latest drivers and the correct monitor .inf - did all the "update driver" & "troubleshoot" clickies .... even uninstalled all drivers and let Win 7 reinstall them. This also happens with a clean install out of the box .... I've tried to post in Microsoft Answers but to no avail - I hope someone here can help .... or at the very least tell me how/where Win 7 determines the startup resolution ....

Screen Resolution Wrong On Boot
I have an XPS M1330 laptop with the Windows7 beta from MSDN. Over all things are great. Occasionally, about 1 out of 4 boots, the screen resolution will be default - 800x600, instead of the proper 1280x800. I am using the Vista x64 driver as there are no Win7 drivers for the Nvidia G8400.  Is there anywhere to upload info about the situation? The MS connect website has nothing about Win7.

Blue Screen And Green Bars
I keep getting blue screen and green bars every once in a while. The blue screen could happen at anytime, then whole system would reboot, giving you the famous 4 options, starting windows in "safe mode", safe mode +xxx... or normally. The 'stop working' green bar could pop up at anytime while I am working with my Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Bridge or using my Internet explorer. It starts getting very annoying especially when I am working.

Boot Up And Power Save Screen Resolution
Issue: On bootup or back from power save, the screen resolution is at the basic 1024 x 768. When I go into the Screen Resolution screen, the Monitor drop down has Generic PnP Monitor. I press Detect and poof . . . My monitor name appears in the drop down and the monitor resolution has set to 1280 x 1024. After that it is fine. I've downloaded and installed the latest Vista Nvidia drivers. There are no Windows 7 drivers. There is a monitor driver, but its so old that Win 7 will not recognize it. The monitor is from 2001/2002 timeframe. Any thoughts what I can do to make the resolution "stick"?

Boot Screens - Vista Bar
I have installed 7 on my desktop. When i boot i get that new funky glowing logo. which is nice. Now, when i install it on my acer one netbook i get the old drab vista bar. Now would i be right in assuming that its something to do with the graphics card on the machines? If not can anyone point me in the right direction. Its not a problem to me im just curious as to why its done that.

Low Brightness Screen When Exiting Hibernating Mode
I installed Windows 7 this week on my notebook Dell XPS M1710. Everything is good working, except one thing : When I close the screen, so the notebook go hibernating, and then I reopen it, the notebook leave the hibernating mode, and here the screen goes dark, the brightness is very low, despite the brightness setting is at max. The only solution is to reboot the notebook. So now I can't use hibernating mode, I have to always shutdown the notebook. Does anybody have the same problem ?

Title Bar Positioned Off The Screen
When using multiple monitors, I often get problems with windows being positioned such that the title bar is off the top of the screen so you can't drag the window back in to play. I've used multiple monitors on many different PCs since 1999 and always had this problem - though it definitely seems to be exacerbated now by the fact that I hibernate the laptop when moving it between home and work, and my secondary monitors at home and work are different resolutions.

Right Side Of Screen Is Cut Off (black Bar)
I installed Windows 7 and have a little problem with the screen. My monitor doesn't display the whole screen, it gets cut off on the right side. I tried to strech it horizontaly through the controls on my monitors, but it's not that, it's still cut off. Updated to latest video drivers (I have a 9800GT) and that's not it either, tried with diffrent resolutions, but whichever resolution I change to the right side is still cut off. The funny thing is when I make a screenshot (with print screen) and paste into paint the image is whole, it shows the part that I don't see on my monitor. Under this is a link to a screenshot of my desktop, I drawn a black line for ilustration so you can see which part is cut off, the right side of the line doesnt display on the pc. If someone has a solution for this please write. My monitor is Hyundai Q770 (CRT), and the GPU is Gygabite 9800GT.

Black Screen - No Start Bar - No Icons
First I have read someone comments about issues regarding missing Start Bar issue however this one seems to be a little more challenging. I have been using Window 7 RC for approximately 6 weeks and everything was working (generally speaking very good). However, yesterday upon power-up I log on as usually and after the login I have a black screen, period. No Start Bar, No desktop icons, No Sidebar, just a black screen. Mouse right click does nothing, Ctrl Alt and Delete brings up Task Manager and from there I can run all programs without problems. This issue occur both in the Admin Account and the Guest Account. I can open the sidebar and then see the Icons however on a re-start I'm back to the black screen same issues. I have done another install of Windows 7 RC yesterday and again the same issues occur. I have completely Virus checked and Malware checking the machine prior to yesterday's install and found nothing abnormal. Whereas I have two montiors I 've checked out whether it maybe defaulted to the 2nd - Not - Re installed the Windows Graphic Drivers as well. I also tried system Restore before I re-installed windows 7 same result with the black screen.

Black Menu Bar In Full Screen
I have a strange problem with the Windows 7 themes. When I use F11 to make an explorer window (both ie and file explorer), the top menu bar (or maybe title bar) becomes black. This does not happen with Firefox or if I change the theme to Windows Classic or Windows 7 Basic. I've looked for help everywhere, but not been able to find any. This is really annoying! I'll attach a screen shot to visualize my problem. Has anybody else experienced this behavior?

Task Bar On Top, Start Menu Is Always Full Screen Height
I prefer my Task Bar across the top of the screen, rather than at the bottom. I also like it to autohide. This is my preference. This seems to work okay but for one thing. When I click the Start button the start menu expands to the full height of the screen, making the thing I'm most likely to want to click on ("All Programs") as far away from my mouse as is possible! I've been told by various fanboys not to crave the Classic start menu any more, as clearly I am a dinosaur for wanting that. Fair enough, I'm trying to use what's given to me by Windows 7. Is there a setting or trick that will allow my Start menu to be only as high as it needs to be? Even if it's only half the height of the screen that will be a relief. And don't say I should move my Task Bar to the bottom, that's not gonna happen.

Dual Screen Switches Screen Or Changes Resolution
I have connected a 2nd screen which is not always on (projector) and sometimes the screens switched or the resolution is changed. I am not sure if this is only related to the latest NV driver and happening also under Vista but maybe this has also to with the new feature in Windows that screens can be switched with the WIN+P key combination. Also i am using Powerstrip in order to create a custom resolution, because this doesn't work anymore in Nvidia drivers. Also sometimes Windows has a different screen order as Powerstrip has.

Virtual High Res Screen For Low Res Netbook
I recently bought a netbook (ASUS N10J) which supports a maximum resolution of 1024x600. I have installed windows 7 on it and it runs pretty well however i have one issue... Sometimes when you have a window open it will be too big to fit on the screen and cant see the buttons at the bottom. I know you can get multiple desktops but what i would like is multiple desktops that run onto each other so if a window on desktop 1 goes off screen the bit off screen would appear on a desktop 2. Hopefully that makes at least some sense Does anyone know of any application or option ive missed that will let you do it?

Different Screen Resolution
At the moment I am using Windows 7 RC 7100. I want different resolution for the different users i have as I have one user account for general work which I would want as my native res at 1024X728 and the other I use just for movies so I will want this to be 1024X1080. I know that in windows 7 you can change the screen res very quickly by right-clicking the desktop but. when i select 1024X1080 the desktop goes off screen, my Nvidia card allows you to resize this a little for all to fit on the screen so that the res isnt quite 1024X1080 but very close. so you see it would not be quick for me to change my screen res by right-clicking the desktop as i would then have to resize to resolution as well. there is a program, a batch file i think that someone made up, that i am running at the moment on my xp which will save the current resolution. but that is only for XP.
