Blue Screen, Frequent Crashes
The crashes started almost immeditately after I got this computer, in January 2009. They have steadily got worse, until the last few weeks it has been several times a day. My dad is into computers, and has worked with me the last few weeks, even taking it to his house for a day or so. We thought a clogged heatsink might have been the problem, but I don;t think it is. 5-6 errors usually follow within a couple minutes, they are: Event Log Event ID 1000--Previous shutdown was unexpected. Critical Error: Kernel-Power--41--The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. Atikmdag--52236---CPLIB--General--Invalid Parameter Atikmdag--43029--Display not active Service Control Manager--7009--A timeout was reached (30000 miliseconds) while waiting for lxdnCATScustConnectService service to connect Service Control Manager--7000--The lxdnCATScustConnectService failed to start due to the floowing error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. This is the order the errors come in. We have ran diagnostics, dad has checked hardware, I am completely loss on this. Kernel-Power is the only critical error I get.

Crashes With Blue Screen Of Death
I'm using an HP Pavilion DV7 Entertainment notebook. I've installed 7 Beta and had NO issues. I installed 7RC and it crashes daily. I have the .dmp files for analysis. HP has nothing to do with 7 yet because its not a GA release. How can I go about diagnosing where the problem is so that i can see if it can even be fixed? I've looked in the event logs, temp folder under my user name, .dmp file, looked at installed apps, the antivirus (Kaspersky), +++. I use predominantly MS apps. there are a few non native Microsoft apps such as Nero 9, Kaspersky, Blackberry Desktop, etc. any suggestions?

Frequent Crashes / Blue Screen Errors
I have been using Windows 7 for the past 10 days. As a part of the testing, i have installed multiple softwares in the system. Most of them are Microsoft recommended. None of them are heavy one's. But off late i have been seeing that windows crashes every few minutes. Every time its some blue screen error message. The first few days, it was very stable, but now, these frequent crashes are very annoying. I hope there is some solution. **Â My windows is completely updated. The AVG antivirus running is also updated.

Blue Screens And Game Crashes
I just built a new machine and did a clean install of Windows 7 RC last week. For the most part it runs like a dream, very much up to par. However, there are occasional Blue Screens and game crashes that happen while putting little strain on the PC, in my opinion. I am typically running Firefox, Ventrilo and World of Warcraft when the issue occurs. Occasionally I get dips in my frame rate from around 60fps to 15-25fps. I received a notification that it was in relation to my video card and that I should update the driver, however I installed the 185.85 nvidia driver when I assembled it all. Is there anyone that has experienced similar issues? if so what was your fix?

BSOD: Pc Crashes Once In A While , With Blue Screens And Reboot
The pc crashes once in a while , with blue screens and reboot. I had the same prob with winxp so i installed Windows 7 supposing that restarts would stop...But nothing.. So far i have done these: remove the tick on "automatically restart" -> (so i could see the blue screen.. update drivers, with device manager and driver genius -> nothing update bios from asus website -> nothing do check disk -> nothing defrag -> nothing usb legacy support disabled from bios (smwhere read that)->nothing sptd.sys fixed -> nothing Rc task disabled (read that too) -> nothing sleep and hibernation set to never - >nothing run memtest (3.5) but i have difficulties because when it starts testing (single cpu or multiple) at test 2 and 45% reboots. when i choose to run memtest previous version (3.4) it recognizes cpu as pentium 3 and completes the test with 10 errors at test 5. I noticed that asus set to my memories timings 5-5-5-12 and voltage 1,8 , so i put timings 4-4-4-12 and voltage 2.2 (manufacture had these timings although gives voltage 2.0)

Video Games Black Screen That Crashes While In Full Screen
All the games I had when I used Windows Vista were playable. Now with Windows 7, whenever any of my games starts in full screen mode, my monitor turns black and does nothing else. The monitor still detects my computer because the monitor gave me no error of a missing input. I cannot alt+tab or Ctrl+Alt+Del or even WindowsLogo+Tab and I am forced to cut the power and restart. After long tiring research giving me such suspects like DirectX 11, disabling Aero, to the all popular lacking computer requirements to play the game I could play before I installed Windows 7. My conclusion was I could play games as long as there are not in full screen mode or in other words Windowed Mode. Why must I play all my games in Windowed Mode to play them on Windows 7? Is there a way to fix this problem? I have already tried to play a few games in compatibility mode and it does not change anything.

Random Black Screen Crashes
I just recently built a new computer and installed Windows 7 Pro 64-bit (specs below). I'm having these very random full black screen crashes. The screen goes completely black, no mouse or taskbar. But the system stays on. I can open the dvd drive as well. No odd noises come from the computer either. I checked my Event Logs and there are alot of Error's, Critical's and some Warning. The most common ones are "Service Control Manager", "PNRPSvc", and "Kernel-Power" & "Kernel-General."

Blue Screen - Blue Screens
I have been using the Windows 7 beta (build 7000) since the day it came out publicly without any problems. I downloaded both the 32 and 64 bit versions of the RC. Whenever I try to install either version I get a BSOD during the install. The DVD boots, it goes through the first Grey Progress bar, shows the new windows boot splash animation, then goes tot he BSOD with both versions. The message says DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and the bottom displays *** STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000008, 0 x0000000000000000) I have tried systematically disconnecting ever component I could one at a time. I have 3 SATA Hard Drives connected, which I disconnected one at a time, and tried only one plugged at a time. 1 SATA DVDROM disconnected and connected 1 PATA DVDROM Disconnected and connected 6 GB Memory DDR2 PC6400, 2x 1GB sticks 2x 2GB sticks Tried disconnecting each, reseating, and installing with only one inserted at a time I took out my Belkin Wireless Card I disabled the SATA, PATA, Network, and integrated sound one at a time in BIOS Reset BIOS to "Fail Safe Options" None of these things worked. I am really enjoying Windows 7, and I hope there is a solution to this. I would like to upgrade to the RC, and I hope it is definitely fixed before RTM. The last thing I could think it would be related to is the Motherboard itself, which I dont know any way to get around.Â

PS i have Windows XP on the same machine so a solution that don't involve reformatting would a be a blessing.

Windows 7 And Boot Times
PC: Eee PC 900HA OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit Disk: G.Skill Falcon 64GB SSD So, long story short, I reformated my Eee PC because I couldn't run WEI after the first time. Boot times were great (a bar and a half at the 7 boot logo). However, I installed Daemon Tools Lite and this went up to 5 and a half bars while booting. I am speed obsessed. So, I uninstalled this software and boot times are the same. How can I fix this?

Unidentified Network And Connection Times Out
I was lucky (?) enough to get a Windows 7 party pack but so far have had nothing but network issues. I have completely given up on wireless - its hopeless. Driver support from belkin is pretty lame. My issue now is that i am trying to connect my original (NOT 360) xbox to my PC via cable. Simple and straight forward enough? I thought so too. Not the case. Obviously i use a program like flash fxp to transfer files across which was all good in both vista and xp, but now whenever i connect the cable in Windows 7, i get the "Unidentified Network" and connection through flashfxp times out. Like i said, I am NOT trying to connect to the Internet (i have just spent £140 on getting a new line hardwired for that), just trying to connect my old xbox to my pc to transfer some music & movies over. I have tried using both static and DHCP, and I'm currently on static. I have tried changing the network type from public to home and then to work. - no dice. I have tried disabling Homegroup as i have read on some forums. - no dice I have tried 'Diagnosing' the connection many many times wiht no success. I have the newest drivers for my motherboard. - ASUS P5Q-E I have done clear a CMOS. I'm not exactly an expert with computers but i know a bit and have been at this for days and read gods knows how many different forum posts, but nearly all refer to Internet issues, whereas I've given up on the wireless network. I just want to transfer my music and movies to and from my xbox. Can anyone gives this tired mind some fresh ideas?

Network Connection Times Out During Downloads
Using Windows 7 Ultimate, I established a series of downloads using Internet Download Manager. The downloads consisted of 20gigs worth of files. I would start the downloads at night and wake up the next morning to see the downloads had stopped. This problem did not exist in Windows XP nor Windows Vista. I have not tried to use Windows 7 Home Premium or Professional, but would like to know and understand how to fix this problem. Nothing on my network ever stops working. The router stays up constantly, and so does the cable modem. When the downloads stop, I just reboot the computer and restart the downloads and it goes until it stalls to a halt again. This is very frustrating. It is not a hardware problem. I am running I7-920 on an XFX-58 MB, 12gigs of Corsair RAM, NVidia GTX-275/SLI, etc... The NICs on MB are Realteks. This was not a problem until WIndows 7. I hope there is a solution. Otherwise I must go back to slow Vista.

Windows 7 Activation - Only 10 Times Per Key?
Will Windows 7 have the same activation protection as Vista? Only 10 activations per key? If the answer is yes, how many petition signatures would be needed to change this limit to a higher number like 20 or once a month? Some of us format our hard drives and switch back and fourth between OSs a lot.
