Blu-Ray Drive Sony VAIO Vgn-fz180 Problems

I have a Sony VAIO vgn-fz180 and I recently installed windows 7 rc, but the software obviously doesn't recognize the blu-ray drive. And because of that I can't use any virtual drives like poweriso. Please help so I can use a Image mounter.

Sony BDU-X10S Blu-Ray Drive Not Working
I've recently purchased a Sony BDU-X10S Blu-Ray internal SATA ROM drive for my PC but it doesn't seem to install correctly in Windows 7. I had originally installed Seven as an upgrade install over Vista, but I didn't have the drive installed before I installed Seven. I'm dual-booting Vista and Seven at the moment and Vista seems to have no trouble with seeing the drive and playing Blu-Ray discs, but this is a less than desirable workaround.

The drive itself shows up in Device Manager under the 'DVD/CD-ROM drives' section as "SONY BD-ROM BDU-X10S ATA DEVICE" with a little yellow exclamation mark sign on it, and the drive details read "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)". The drive does not show up in Computer.

I have tried uninstalling the driver and rebooting but when windows attempts to automatically install the proper driver I simply get a dialog box stating that an attempt to find the correct driver has failed, and to contact the manufacturer. No drivers as such came with the drive and windows Vista seemed happy enough to auto-install it without asking for any drivers.

Windows update and the 'update driver' function of device manager fail to find any different drivers; they both return stating that "the correct driver for this device is installed".

Does anyone know of any other way I can work around this? If possible, is there a way for me to boot into my working Vista install that has no problems with the BD-ROM drive and 'extract' the driver that windows is using? Both of the versions of Windows I have installed at the moment are the x64 platform variants.

Blu Ray Drive Not Functioning
Should there be an Optical Drive section on this forum? Just a suggestion.

Anyway, has anyone gotten ANY Blu-Ray drive to work in Win 7 64-bit yet? I've got the LG GGC-H20L Blu-ray/HD combo and I was at least able to get the drive to lose the caution/warning symbol in the device manager thanks to the reg edit in another thread. But I still can't get the drive to read any blu-rays. I've using Total Media Theatre which is fantastic in Vista.

Just wondering what some others have encountered on their Win 7 journey. Anything with 32-bit(I might triple boot just to find out)? Anything with a different program? Anybody with a different drive? Heck, anybody with the SAME drive?

Blu Ray Drive Missing?
This issue usually happens on my Vista 32, but now it's happening on Win 7. Blu Ray intermittently shows and disappears from device manager upon boot. Yet in posting it shows. I've even used the drive in a repair. Reboot, not there.Sony BDU-X10SAnyone else have issues with this particular drive or a similar situation?

How To Get Windows 7 To Share Blu-ray Drive
How do I get one Windows 7 computer to share out it's internal blu-ray drive and get another Windows computer to see it as a blu-ray disk instead of a folder? I want to make the shared disk drive be able to auto-play on a remote computer on my network.

Blu-ray SATA Drive Not Showing Up In Explorer
Bought a LG Blu-ray internal sata rewriter. Installed it and windows 7 found it first time. So far so good. Put windows into sleep mode and when I woke it up the sata drive was missing. The drive was not only missing, but the tray failed to manually open and the activity light did not illuminate. Drive totally dead. Check all power and sata cables all ok. Done a full reboot and drive came back ok. This only happens when the machine is put into sleep mode. Sata drivers all up to date and all cables 100%. Turn the machine fully off or restart and everything works ok each time. Use sleep mode and it fails when you bring the m/c to life.

Blu-ray Drive Disappears After Putting Windows 7 Computer To Sleep
My computer is running Windows 7 professional. It is a fresh install. I have a blu ray drive installed (LG BH12ls38) that works fine. However, when I put my computer to sleep and wake it back up, the drive is gone. When I go to device manager and try to scan for hardware changes it still doesn't recognize it. The only way to solve the problem is to shut down the computer. Restarting the computer doesn't work. If I restart, the computer stays on the motherboards screen for a longer period of time then it normally does (about 30 seconds). Also, it seems that this drive is affecting the computer when I shut it down. After having this problem of not being able to find the drive it seems my computer takes longer to shut down.

I have installed all necessary updates for Windows and the driver is provided by Microsoft driver version - 6.1.7601.17514 and date is 6/21/2006. I called LG and they have not been able to find a solution. It seems they do not provide/have a driver and rely on microsoft's drivers. I also updated my BIOS to the newest version. I went to my local store and tried another LG drive which was older and not blu ray and it worked fine so it's not a motherboard or power issue. My computer is running in IDE mode. The reason I state that is because I saw some posts about people switching from IDE to AHCI mode. However, I talked to the technician at my local microcenter and he said this wouldn't be the issue. Sounds to me like firmware issue?

Unmounable Boot Volume Error (PC Turned Off With Blu-ray Drive Open)
I don't know if its a coincidence, but I left my blu-ray drive open when I turned my PC off, and all hell broke loose. Now I get these Unmounable Boot Volume. So Far,

- I've switched around the boot configuration. I've taken out the cmos battery.
- I've disconnected my 2nd hard drive
- I've reset bios default settings
- I've switched the SATA ports

I don't know what else to do, because I don't want to do a Fresh OS install. Right now I'm just working on 1 hard drive. my second 1tb is disconnected from power and data and I'm having the same problem. I also just disconnected my Blu-ray drive. And I did the start up repair. Niether worked.

Sony Vaio VGN-FW11E Touchpad
I installed Windows 7 (64-Bit) on my Sony Vaio laptop (VGN-FW11E) yesterday coming from Vista (32-Bit). Everything is running ok but i have one problem. On Vista i used to scroll up and down using my touchpad however on Windows 7, that function seems to have disabled. On Vista there also was a touchpad setting where i could set my touchpad functions, but which i can no longer find on Windows 7.

When i installed Windows 7, i understand that i cannot carry over all the sony vaio programs onto Windows 7 (because my laptop is too old apparently) but is there anyway to adjust my touchpad setting? I have always used the touchpad scroll function and it is kind of annoying not having it.

Sony VAIO Vgn-sz430n Drivers
I have a sony vaio vgn-sz430n running Windows Vista Business. I upgraded to Windows 7 and it went off without a hitch until the first log in. The desktop will not fill the screen and it only gives me two options for resolutions: ~1024x768 and 800x600. I went to device manager and found that my display driver is now standard vga driver.

The laptop has an nvidia geforce go 7400 graphics card and, from what I've read, it also shares memory with onboard integrated graphics...I think. I read other threads suggesting methods to fix this problem but none of them have worked. I tried downloading the windows 7/vista driver for that nvidia graphics card from nvidia but the setup program says no compatible hardware found.

I tried pointing Windows 7's driver installation (from device manager) to the driver's location in the setup folder but it tells me the most current driver is already installed and no update is needed. I even tried modding the driver (as suggested on another thread) but that didn't work.

Upgrade On Sony Vaio VGN-FE890
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FE890 downgraded with windows XP.

I want now to go to windows seven, but in sony site says that it has drivers just for vista.

I had some drivers trouble using XP and wouldn't like that this occurs if I change my OS to seven.

Did someone that has this model of notebook using it and 100% working fine?

Or does someone knows if there is a way to do it?

Sony Vaio VGN-AR790U/B Issue
My Notebook is a Sony Vaio VGN-AR790U/B which shipped with Vista 32-bit. Recently I upgraded it with a clean install of windows 7 Professional 64-bit. Using various drivers, Iâve been able to get nearly everything working.

My problem is that ever since installing Windows 7, my notebook runs VERY hot, as in far too hot to sit on my lap and even worse is the fact that the wrist pad area gets too hot to even type for more than a few minutes at a time. The fan seems to be operating but at a very slow speed which canât be heard but it is always on. With Vista the same fan would go on and off and when it was on at full blast it was pretty loud.

I have not made any changes to my Bios and upon entering the Bios; I can't see any options to make any type of changes to anything other than the boot order and password options. I really don't want to go back to Vista but the heat problem is too much to live with. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. BTWâ even though the system runs very hot, it has never shutdown even after running it for 48 hours at a time more than once now.
