BSOD On Win 7 RC Install
Trying to install the 32 bit Win 7 RC on my laptop and get to the very last step (at least I think it's the last step...). I'm doing an Upgrade install from Vista Home Premium using a USB stick. The PC reboots, 'Starting Windows' and gets to a screen showing 'Setup is starting services'. Then I get the dreaded blue screen and am stuck in a blue screen loop.Â
Each time I get a different blue screen but the most common one references wanarp.sys (page_fault_in_nonpaged_area). I've tried booting from the USB stick and doing a repair but that didn't fix it. Tried the Memory Diagnostics - no problems detected. Â
Tried F8, then 'Repair your computer', which restored me back to Vista - aaaargh, wasn't expecting that.... I assume it's a driver error but how can I fix it next time I try the install?

Win 7 Custom Install, Results In A BSOD
I've created a custom version of Windows 7 Ultimate RTM because I'll have to install it on several pc's and didn't want to install the software manually. So I started to install the programs on a virtual pc and used this guide to create an iso. I did this in windows xp, so instead of using the in-built vhd-attach tool I used WinMount . Then, I used imageX to create the install.wim. After that, I replaced the install.wim of an original Windows 7 RTM dvd and burnt the dvd using ImgBurn and this tutorial . Because the install.wim is to big to fit on a normal dvd, I had to burn it on a dual-layer dvd+r. Rebooted system, started windows setup from dvd, chose the partition I had already prepared, and installed windows 7 without any problems. But, after setup, getting ready for the first boot, after the drivers are loaded and the red part of the windows logo starts to appear, it shows me a bsod and I cannot continue. A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer. Technical information: *** STOP: 0x0000007B (0x80786B58, 0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) I followed the advices that were given, but there weren't any virusses on my drive, I did not change my hard drive (controller) and chkdsk end with no errors.

BSOD During Install (vista / Win 7) On RAID
I got this problem and cannot solve it myself for over a month, ANY advice will be appreciated! The goal is Windows 7 64bit with RAID0. 1. Windows XP 32bit installs fine on RAID0 (with proper driver integrated) 2. Windows 7 64bit and Vista 64bit installs fine on single drive. 3. Windows 7 64bit and Vista 64bit on RAID0 give BSOD 0x000000F4 during completing installation stage, then Matrix Storage manager shows RAID0 ERROR OCCURRED. EDIT: 4. Windows Vista 32bit won't install on raid setup too. Its not the case with 64bits I tried everything I could think of: 1. exchanged both hard drives 2. tested RAM 3. tried install with minimum pheripherals and 1GB RAM 4. messed up with BIOS, even updated to latest beta bios 5. tried installing intel vista64 raid drivers, tho windows 7 has itself 6. RMA'd my DVD Drive and still NO GO E7200 || Abit IP35 Dark Rider || A-Data 4GB || 4850 || X-Fi Gamer || Samsung F1 RAID0 || Pioneer DVR-212 || Corsair VX450 || HP w2207h

BSOD After Install
After what seemed to be a successful upgrade from Vista Home Premium 64-bit to Windows 7 RC 64-Bit, my computor BSOD's on the frist restart after displaying "System is Starting Services" (See attached pictures) The odd part is I then partitioned off my hard drive and did a clean install of 7, which worked great. Troubleshooting I have done: -Uninstalled all programs and drivers that conflicted with compatibility report -re-downloaded and burned the install disc -tried installing the windows 7 beta as opposed to the rc -disabled my video drivers

I downloaded WIndows 7 7600.16385.090713-1255_x64fre_client_en-us_Retail_Ultimate-GRMCULXFRER_EN_DVD_JC_. I burnt it to a DVD at 8x speed and restarted the computer to boot into it. The Windows logo appears but then a Blue Screen of Death appears saying: Driver IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL with a lot of other text. Any idea why?

BSOD 0xD1 On New Install
I didn't have this problem at all prior to updating to this build of Windows 7. I get the BSOD when upping the activity on the computer, such as trying to download multiple files at once. I thought it was the memory so I RMA'd it and it just got back. So I did an entire rebuild, cleaning and reseating everything. Did another full reformat and installed Windows 7 7100 from a different ISO off my flash drive. Bing! Again, BSOD. Not sure how to proceed. Details to follow... The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x000000d1 (0x0000000000000008, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000, 0xfffff88002ca402a). It's a really fast BSOD, I see nothing but the screen going black with some crazy graphic bs going on for a half second then it restarts.... Nothing but a clean install. I just tried using Driver Sweeper on the ATI files but they kept reappearing even after I uninstalled them. Given that I still ran the ATI driver package then I went into IE to download Firefox and as soon as it started downloading, BSOD again. There is nothing else on the install, I tried using my flash drive and a DVD to install Windows 7 7100 and I still get the same problem. Like I said, memory is brand new, nothing is overclocked...

Install Crashing (No BSOD)

I backed up all my stuff from XP onto my external, got ready to reformat like normal tossed the Windows 7 x64 Professional disc into the drive and booted from CD. Everything worked like normal, Windows 7 is a bit different in that it doesn't run in a BIOS-type setting like XP but rather has its own little graphical install interface. Figured out what I wanted (custom install, "deleted" the old partition), and pressed go. I thought it was weird that it didnt "format" the hard drive like XP installation does, I know I can get a boot disc with 'Book and Nuke' to wipe the hard drive which I may do, but I figured since Windows 7 didn't want to format that it wasn't entirely necessary. Goes through the expanding files fine, whatever else it does on the first isntall screen, and then it gets to the restart phase. Restart goes well, automatically shuts down and boots back up, getting to the screen that says 'Starting Windows...' and then crashes. Monitor gets the 'No Signal' message, computer stays shut off for a few seconds and then powers back up. It gives me the 'Windows crashed and recovered from an error' selection where I can choose how I want to boot (Safe Mode, Last Good Configuration, etc.) and I've tried the 'Boot like Normal' configuration and it will just continue this cycle. The first time I tried installing Windows 7 it got past this screen, got to the portion of the installation where it automatically adjusts the resolution, and then after that it crashed. Since then I have not been able to get past the first reboot without a constant restart loop. I tried 32-bit with the exact same results. I have disabled all but 1 core and disabled hyperthreading (this was required to install XP beacuse I don't have a SP2 disc) to see if it worked but the same thing happened. Reset BIOS to factory defaults, same thing. Changed back to 1 core, no hyperthreading and same thing happened again. I have no extra video cards I can try but I could ask my brother if I can borrow his 23" widescreen HANNS-G monitor but unless I'm mistaken I don't think this is an issue that a monitor would fix. I'm not the most computer-savvy person but I can work my way around. I don't know if there is a log file I can access and post here to see what the last thing that happened (the error) is, but I never get a BSOD with an error I can post, just a restart and Windows telling me there was an error and asking how I want to boot.

BSOD IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL During Install
I'm trying to install the newest build on an old laptop that currently runs XP. I try booting from the DVD, and after it gets to the point where the little green progress bar animation plays on the bottom of the screen, I instantly get the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL bsod. Other cases I've found of this bsod seem to be related to peripheral drivers, but it's a laptop, so there are none (per se). Any thoughts?

RC1 - BSOD When Trying To Install
I am attempting to install Windows 7 RC1 from a DVD to a new PC I just built. The machine gets past the first loading bar, and to the point where it says "Starting Windows". It then BSODs, and displays this error: MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION (Insert generic BSOD message here) Technical information: *** STOP: 0x0000009C (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFF8000D813BA0, 0x00000000B4000000, 0x0000000000000833) <-- The first of these 4 parameters is always the same, the others change each time.... This code seems to point to an hardware issue, but I am at a loss as to what is wrong.... The RAM should be alright, as it came from a previous PC that worked fine with it. The BIOS POSTs without any issues. Also, I am able to boot into a Ubuntu Linux LiveCD I had lying around, so I don't think anything especially critical is broken.... I found a thread where someone else had a similar issue, but it doesn't seem to have ever been resolved: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproinstall/thread/e1612dbd-e90f-42bb-9567-fd9d6738809b Hardware: BioStar TA790GX XE MoBo (Integrated ATI HD3300 GPU) AMD Athlon II X2 240 CPU 4GB Corsair XMS 2 DDR2 800 RAM (2x2GB) WD 80GB 7200RPM HDD PCP&C Silencer 370 Watt PSU

Install BSOD 0x00000024
I have successfully installed the beta into virtual pc. What I am having trouble with is installing it on another hard drive in my system. No matter the method I try I always get the BSOD with the error code 0x00000024. What I have tried so far. 1) Install as clean onto 2nd hard drive using dvd boot 32bit iso. 2) Install as clean onto 2nd hard drive  from within vista 32 as clean install (32bit). 3) Install as clean onto 2nd hard drive from within vista 32 using the iso as a virtual dvd drive using daemon tools. 4) Install as clean onto 2nd hard drive using dvd boot 64bit iso. 5) Install as upgrade from within vista 64.All of the above give me the BSOD. I have read elswhere on this forum that there are issues with nvidia chipsets (630a/7050). So I don't know if this is the issue. I could get the 6956 version to install fine. Something has changed since this version was released. And not for the better.

BSOD: Install Drivers
After I install ATI Drivers 9.4, or Realtek High Definition Audio Driver 2.27 or even drivers from windows update for my TV card. Every time I change drivers I get a BSOD, not after install but after the installation I make a restart and BSOD happen (after the logo of Windows 7 and before the welcome scream). I could get in, in Safe Mode and try the restore and sometimes after that i can get in again in normal mode, but if i make a rr again, it goes to the same thing. If someone could translate that for me, it will be great. I already try google it, install drivers once in a time, install the SO many times, but still can't isolate the problem of the BSOD. BSOD On Win7 Install
I'm attempting to install on a Gigabyte MB with an Athlon 64 processor an ATI video card, a Turtle beach sound card, 1 gig RAM, 2 IDE hard drives, 1 SATA hard drive, a CD / RW and a DVD/RW. I burned a DVD from the ISO and set up to do a clean install to the channel 0 slave drive. The machine boots off the DVD and the fancy dancing dots get started followed by a BSOD (on two tries) with the following:STOP 0x0000009c (0x000000004, 0x8b749da8, 0x00070f0f)The log file created on the target drive is 0 bytes in size so no help there. My normal system boots off the SATA drive and is XP Pro with all updates. I suspect some sort of hardware conflict but as to what.

BSOD On New Install (nvlddmkm.sys)
I have two computers (mine and my wife's) which are, for the most part identical.. bought the parts all at the same time, just ordered them x2. The only thing I have changed since building them is my PSU. From within Vista I popped the disk in and began the install process. It appeared to download some updates prior to installing. It restarted and did its thing. It "seemed" to install fine.. I got to the desktop and started copying various drivers and programs to the desktop to install. As it was doing that, my wife jumped on and changed the wallpaper.. (I watched and that's all she did) I asked her to double click on the newest video card drivers to install them. They appeared to install fine. A few seconds later the screen began to flicker on and off. Then it locked up and have the BSOD with the nvlddmkm.sys. It would then restart and before actually loading windows, it would BSOD again with the same file name. Now it's in a loop. I've tried reinstalling about 3 times. All three times I've booted from the DVD, repartitioned and formatted. Every time, it will restart at the Finishing Installation step then BSOD with the same file name. I can no longer get it to boot to the desktop. I'm using the same DVD I used on my PC. Zero scratches on the disk. I've also used an older version of Windows 7 via DVD and that version seems to have problems too. No BSOD but after installing it will restart and post a black screen with a blinking underscore indefinitely. How is it possible that with identical systems one has problems and one doesn't? Any thoughts on how to correct this?

Install Completes. After First Restart, BSOD
Been having a ton of trouble getting the RC to install. To even get the RC to install I've had to slipstream the drivers for my setup. After the install has completed for the first time, it will boot into windows for the very first time, but when I restart, it starts BSOD on me endlessly. It is entirely odd since it works flawlessly when it has entered Win 7 for the first time, but never again. I had similar issues with Vista when installing, but never to this degree.

BSOD When Install Something On Secondary Drives

Install BSOD With Igdkmd64.sys
So recently I attempted the jump from 32-bit to 64-bit in the form of Windows Vista 32 to Windows 7 64. My processor has 64-bit architecture (It's a Q9400), so I assumed if I did a clean install of windows 7 and formatted Windows Vista off of my hard drive completely, that I would not have an issue. When (I think) i'm almost done with the installation, and when windows is "starting up", the BSOD comes up with the error: "igdkmd64.sys PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA Technical information: *** STOP: 0x00000050 (0xFFFFF88103878FE6, 0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFF880049A51DB, 0xFFFFF880049A50000000000005)" [Could have misplaced a zero..] Anyways, if anyone could me know what my problem might be. Specs: Intel DG43NB desktop motherboard 4GB DDR2 @ 800mhz Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 processor If any further information is needed let me know but I do not have the exact model names for the hard drives that I am using. PS: ANY information will probably be helpful please I cannot find anything about this error really. Thank you for your time!

BSOD RC 7100 X64 At Clean Install
i just downloaded windows 7 rc x64. at first i wanted to upgrade from 7000, but after the first reboot i saw blue... (BSOD) then i thought, it would be better to do a clean install, burned the ISO on DVD and again saw BSOD even before installation progress has started (after Windows had collected information and first boot)... now to my question: is the BSOD caused by a bad ISO, or is anything wrong with my system? by the way: Beta 1 Build 7000 x64 works fine.
