AuthenTec AES1610 Fingerprint Reader Keeps Disconnecting
I've experienced problems with the Authentec AES1610 fingerprint reader under Windows 7 RC. The device IS working using the default Windows 7 driver. However, it keeps disconnecting, triggering the Hardware disconnected chime. This occurs ever minute or so.
I know for sure it is this device because if I remove it entirely OR if I install the Digital Persona software and attendant driver that are distributed online for my HP tablet (TX2510us), the chiming goes away. There is clearly something about the Windows 7 driver that is "losing grasp" of the device and letting it disconnect from the system over and over.

The latest drivers from AuthenTec have finally got this device working with W7. However, after returning the laptop to life after being in Power Saving mode, this device no longer functions. Is there still a driver issue or is there it a problem with power saving settings? The laptop is a Levono 3000 N200.

Authentec AES3500/4000 Series Fingerprint Reader Driver
Does anyone know if the final release of Windows 7 will support the Authentec AES3500/4000 series fingerprint reader? This sensor uses the touch driver (ATTchDrv.sys) rather than the slide driver (ATSwpDrv.sys) used by the AES1600/25xx devices. Authentec seems to have provided a WBDI compliant driver for the slide Sensors (ATSwpWDF.sys) but I can't locate an equivalent driver for the touch sensors.  The Authentec download only supports the swipe drivers as for as I can establish.  The existing touch driver does load, and is recognised in device manager, but apparently doesn't support the Windows 7 biometrics protocols.  I have a Tatung Tablet PC ( aka Electrovyaa 3000) from 2005 and everything else works great. The new Tip is fantastic. Any ideas, hints or pointers? Anyone successfully using an AES3500/4000 sensor under Windows 7?

Authentec Fingerprint Scanner Randomly Disconnects
I've installed the Windows RC on an ASUS R1E Tablet PC, with a Authentec Fingerprint scanner for login. Everything works well, and drivers were installed for almost everything (except the Intel trusted platform module stuff, but that's virtually impossible to install for unless you use the pre-installed ASUS Vista image...) The fingerprint reader also installed, and works just fine. However, the computer makes random USB disconnect noises all the time. This happened in the beta as well, and after doing some googling I found a reference to the other users finding the fingerprint reader causing this fault. Disabling the Authentec device in device manager stops the random noises, but of course you don't get fingerprint login anymore. Interestingly, you never get the device connected noise: just disconnects. Sometimes you get more than one in a minute, then nothing for half an hour... then another one. This problem does NOT occur in Vista using the Authentec/ASUS proprietary biometric stuff, so it's obviously related to the new biometric framework in Win 7. It's not a big deal (in fact, I completely ignored it and just put up with my computer making random beeps for the whole of the beta), but there's something screwy going on.

Lenovo Fingerprint Reader Software X64
The software is installed and I can register my fingerprints but when I try to check the box: "Use fingerprint scan instead of password when logging into Windows" it checks and I can click OK. After that I go back into settings and it is not checked. It won't stay checked no matter what level is used in UAC either. Driver For UPEK Biometric Device Fingerprint Reader
I've got a Dell XPS M1330 notebook with integrated UPEK biometric fingerprint reader. The device itself is working fine, however the driver setup I've got at the moment isn't ideal. I can either use the driver provided by Windows Update, and this allows Windows to recognise the biometric device and I can use the Windows fingerprint logion functionality, but this is all. What I really want to do is use UPEKs' Protector Suite QL to enable the use of the biometric device to login to websites etc. If I use the driver provided by Windows Update, Protector Suite QL doesn't recognise the fingerprint reader installed. If I use the UPEK driver that allows the Protector Suite to work, Windows doesn't find any biometric devices installed - I can't find a suitable driver where both Windows AND Protector Suite QL recognise the biometric device. Has anyone a solution or a similar problem? I would like Windows to recognise the device to use the Windows biometric login, and Protector Suite QL to recognise he device to use the biometric website login. Alternatively I'd be happy not to use Protector Suite QL at all if there is a way to use the biometric device to login to websites native in Windows.

Dell Studio Upgrade And Fingerprint Reader Not Functional
I recently upgraded a new dell studio with a fingerprint reader. it worked just fine with vista. it is Authen Tec. AES2810. i went to dell and updated the driver they had for windows 7. the manager says that it is working properly but it does not appear on startup or on any password input. is there a fix or do i need to go back to vista if i want the reader to work?

Fingerprint Reader Not Working When Upgraded From Vista To Win 7
I recently upgraded from vista home to windows 7 home. i have a dell studio 17 and liked using the fingerprint reader. i downloaded the new driver from dell and the hardware mgr. states that it is working properly, however it is completley missing. Is it not compatible with windows 7. i wish i would have not did the upgrade. any suggestions before i reinstall vista.

UPEK Fingerprint Reader In Dell Latitude D620 / Biometric Devices Screen Issues
I installed Windows 7 Beta on a Dell Latitude D620. Laptop has built in UPEK biometric fingerprint reader. Windows 7 did not automatically install a driver. I first installed the driver from Dell.com for Vista 32bit. Device manager shows driver installed and hardware running, but the fingerprint reader does not show up in the Biometric Devices screen from within the Control Panel. Next, I went to UPEK's website, and downloaded a driver dated 12/2008. Same scenario, device manager is good, but no device showing up in Biometric Devices in Control Panel. I removed driver and rebooted machine before and after each attempt. Anyone have any ideas? Or are the existing drivers just simply not supported currently by Windows 7 Beta fully?

Fingerprint Tool Error At Login: Match For Fingerprint Was Not Found
We at PGS are currently running a Windows 7 pilot to test/confirm windows 7 functionality before we start our production rollout of Windows 7. This issues will seriously bring that to a halt or force us to use the working Lenovo Fingerprint software. I would like to avoid the Lenovo software even though it works without this error on a test laptop and use the native Windows 7 biometric tools. We have a issue on all our Lenovo laptops that prevents us from simple using the fingerprint login despite registration. This only seems to occur when we are not connected to the domain. This occurs on all laptops tested so far and this error is repeatable. Error at login screen: Windows Security: A match for the fingerprint was not found in the fingerprint store The Biometrics settings is enabled, TPM and drivers installed and setting set to "allow users to login to Windows using their fingerprints" and "allow users to login to a domain using their fingerprints". I am level 2 support and am the technical lead for this project. Has this been reported to Microsoft as a issue yet? I cannot find any google articles and this error.

Warning: AuthenTec Biometric Driver Plaintext Password
If you have a fingerprint scanner and are testing the AuthenTec Biometric driver, be aware that their software actually logs your Windows password in plaintext! You can find the log in C:Program FilesWIN7TSloggingTrueSuite.EnumWindowsUses.log I just replaced the password with asterixes. This does effect how the program works.

Bluetooth Keyboard Keeps Disconnecting
This is my first Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and although it looks as though it was designed by an art student, you are totally fudged if you are left handed because Logitech decided, the entire world are right handed. It is a well designed keyboard and mouse that cups your hand like a well fitted glove, but it has a major flaw... Or it's Windows 7? The problem I have is the keyboard keeps disconnecting all the time which is really annoying when you are typing and half the words are not there. Windows 7 has Bluetooth already set as standard, but I am now wondering if the problems I am getting is Logitech SetPoint clashing with Windows 7 Bluetooth...? Which could be causing the keyboard to disconnect? I must be honest I love the keyboard and the mouse is just amazing.... But the disconnection of the Bluetooth is so irratating, you just feel like throwing in the towel and returning back to your wireless keyboard which kept a steady connection. It never stopped working, you never had to search for your keyboard via Bluetooth Central. Does anybody have an idea what is causing the dissconnection of the keyboard. The mouse is fine it's just the keyboard which drops the connection and you have to press the red button on the keyboard and reconnect again, it was fine to start off with, then it started disconnecting.

USB Stick Keeps Disconnecting
I've got a rather old USB-Stick (512 MB). It's formatted in FAT if I'm not mistaken. On Windows 2000 I don't have any problem with it. But with Windows 7 it wont work: When I connect it to the computer (no matter whether I use an extension cable or connect it directly), I hear the confirmation sound, that it has been connected. But only a few seconds later it automatically gets disconnected. Any idea, what might cause this?

Wireless Network Disconnecting Frequently
I am using W7 on my Dell Precision workstation with a 3rd. party Wifi PCI card. The connection to the WAP will not connect automatically, even with the check-box marked for this, and after connection drops the access within seconds. It does reconnect but then drops again frequently even if there is no Internet activity. I have set up W7 as a complete new install on this PC, previously using XP pro on the same machine / card etc. without any of these problems. This problem currently stops any consistency in downloading updates etc.

Local Area Networking Disconnecting
I just upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium from Vista Home Premium and ever since my Local Area Network which takes me to the internet keeps disconnecting after a few minutes. I right click on the little icon on the lower right and the troubleshooter starts and it resets the adapter but after going back to the internet it will disconnect after a short time. My modem and router are fine because I have XP Pro on another drive on this computer and everything works fine there plus my XBOX 360 is hooked to the same router and when it is on it goes to XBOX Live no problem. Has anyone had this problem with the internet disconnecting in Windows 7?? Please let me know the fix if possible.

Hangs After Disconnecting USB Drive During Sleep
I think I have found a bug in Windows 7 RTM Ultimate 64-bit: If I put my computer to sleep without safely removing my USB harddrive via the "safely remove hardware and eject media" icon and I disconnect the USB drive while the computer is a sleep, then after waking the computer Windows 7 will hang very soon. Either during the logon screen or if I do manage to logon then I can't start any programs (I can open the start menu 2-3 times, but after that even the start menu won't open). PS! I have my sytem drive and the USB drive (LaCie 1TB) encrypted with Bitlocker. The motherboard in my PC is GA-MA790XT-UD4P, if that is of any relevance... This is completely reproducible on my machine, although I haven't tried on other machines... Steps to reproduce: 1) Insert a Bitlocker to Go encrypted USB Drive and type in the password 2) Put the computer to sleep 3) Remove the USB Drive 4) Wake the computer 5) At some point quite soon, the computer hangs and a manual restart is required

No Speaker Sound After Disconnecting Bluetooth Headset
I had speaker sound before installing bluetooth dongle and pairing headset. I can hear on the bluetooth headset but when I turn off/disconnect, sound does not resume on speakers. When I check the speaker configuration I get a message that the device is in use by another application but no help in unblocking the app.

Reboots After Disconnecting From Remote Desktop Session
I have noticed this more than a few times now. After I have disconnected from a remote session to my work machine (which runs Windows 7) the machine reboots. Or to be more precise, at least all the running applications shut down, since I have not been able to find anything in the event log that will tell me for sure that the machine has indeed rebooted. I have also confirmed by asking another coworker who also runs Windows 7 on his work machine, to try remote desktop over vpn from home and see if the same thing happens---and indeed it does. Has anyone else noticed this happening? What is the best way to figure out when the machine rebooted? Is there some way of turning on more detailed logging as to what caused a reboot? Work machine: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Home machine used to remote desktop into Windows 7: Windows Vista Ultimate x64.

Problems Disconnecting From External Usb Drive ( Roland Mv-8000 )
I am experiencing trouble on both ends of hooking my roland mv-8000 to win7. This connect seemingly fine initially, then I try to disconnect. 1) I select eject usb drive (mv-8000) from windows system bar, ok! 2) I tell my MV to disconnect, it says cannot disconnect connection still active. 3) So I unplug the connection manually (could be bad??) 4) Attempt to reconnect again windows says 'USB device not recognized' Full reboot of both systems will let me start over again. Roland MV hosts a internal fat32 40gb hd, things work fine on winxp sp3.

UPEK Fingerprint Drivers
UPEK's biometric software, Protection Suite 2009, has been updated to work with the Windows 7 RC (Build 7100). However, for those of us who are adventurous enough to try the new leaked build 7127, the installation provides no support, and exits after giving a message that it is only for "builds 7168 to 7100". Luckily for you guys, I've modified the installation package to support all builds upto 7200, and uploaded it on Rapidshare. This took me a lotta pain to do, because I've never done anything of the sort, and it took a fair amount of googling and experimentation to find the right tools for the job. So if nothing else, at least give me a little rep if it comes in handy. Note: This may fail to install the drivers for your fingerprint sensor. If so, just allow Windows Update to download and install the driver for you, and you'll be fine. If the sensor already has a driver installed but the Protection Suite fails to recognize it, goto Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager -> Biometric Devices, and right click on your sensor, and select Uninstall; also select the "Delete device driver" option. Then reboot, and let Windows install the sensor again, and download the driver through Windows Update.

I recently installed windows 7 rc on my hp pavilion dv 6722la and suddenly the fingerprint sensor stopped working. I installed the driver from hp.com but it seems that the reader isn't recognized. Fingerprint Scanner Troubles
Ok, so I installed the HP drivers for my Authentec AES2501A biometric scanner and everything worked fine and dandy and then the action center said I had a problem with my fingerprint scanner and that I should install the latest drivers from the manufacturer that were specifically designed for Windows 7, not Vista. I did this, restarted as it said, and my scanner was not detected : ( I logged in after much trouble trying to actually remember my password and tried to use the scanner only to find it wasn't found. I rolled back the driver and everything was back to working, without even restarting! I'd like to use the latest drivers designed for Windows 7, but they don't work. Is there some trick to this that I'm missing? or do the drivers not work for others too? I saw the one post below mine, but his problem was similar, but kind of the opposite.

I encountered a problem that I use 7100 in the process, Windows Update will help me find a fingerprint in the drive, but I always during the update process fails, I am not sure where the problem lies, but the same Windows Update and fingerprint-driven systems in the VHD can be a normal update, I do not know what went wrong?

i just installed Windows 7 Ultimate to my notebook Asus F3SV, i use Vista drivers and utilities and everything is ok. but i realized that the fingerprint doesn't work. i update all drivers and utilities from asus support page and it still doesn't work. than i tried to open 'my identity' under the Asus Security Center i had a warning: The Asus Security Protect Manager is not properly installed on your computer. If the problem persists please contact your system administrator. i re-install the program and i had a warning about verisoft asghost.exe. i did everything you've written but it still can't work can anyone help me please?
