installed in a brand new build based on a AMD Phenom II x4 965 with a MSI 790FX-GD70 MB.
The build went together absolutely headache free and was up and running for almost 24 hours before I tried to install the driver for the video card. At that time Win7 Pro 64bit would pop up and error that read "Video Display Driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered" but then it just does the same thing a couple more times and then the system just locks up.
I thought I screwed something up the first time with trying to D/L the driver. I ended up re-installing Win7 and started over with a clean D/L of the newest driver from XFX's website. Everything seemed to work fine and I was playing around with STEAM and D/Ling the Dirt game that came with the card. The system ran stable for maybe an hour or so and now it started the same thing and locks up shortly after reboot displaying the same driver error.
Any ideas on what I should try? Should I find a driver straight from ATI? It looks like the driver IS from ATI and XFX is just distributing it. I downloaded what should be the proper driver. It was for Win7 64bit and I downloaded the file marked display driver only. I don't think it is a hardware issue as it ran fine with a generic VGA driver when Win7 first installed. I believe it is a software issue.
I purchased an hp envy 17 inch laptop last March and now their is a newer model of the laptop out that has an ati mobility radeon 6850 graphics card. and the one I have now has an ati mobility radeon 5850 card I wanted to know sense i was considering selling the one I have now JUST to get the newer model just for the card would selling my laptop for the newer model be worth it just for the updated graphics card?
My computer has a problem with crashing while playing a video in full screen. When it crashes the screen turns black while the speakers give out a buzzing noise. Everything is unresposive the only solution is to turn it off with the power button. It happens in any full screen video online or offline and even visualizations from windows media player and iTunes, but only in full screen. I don't think it's overheating either because sometimes it takes 30 mins to crash and other times it will crash immediately when put in full screen. *I've tried setting it back to factory settings thus reinstalling windows. *All the directx features are working with no reported problem there.* I don't think it's a memory issue in the computer, as my specs are:
Windows 7 64-bit Processor: intel core i5 3.20 GHz Ram: 8 GB Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 Graphics card memory: 0.5 GB Any other ideas?
one day it suddenly crashed while i was watching a movie. it displayed random patterns on screen. kinda like part of the image from the video is on the screen then a black strip and random colors. I restarted the unit to safe mode and left it on and browsed the net and downloaded some big files for how many hours and nothing happened.. there are also times when windows is still loading with the windows logo on screen, it crashes. there are also times when the login screen is displayed and it crashes. it just crashes randomly! so i tried to reformat it. i deleted the partitions and created a new one, formatted it then fresh installed windows 7 ( my previous OS is windows 7 by the way) and started installing the basic drivers and after a few hours, it crashed again...thinking that the driver installed might not be compatible, i tried another fresh install of windows (same execution, delete partition, create, install OS) and this time, without installing the drivers, it crashed again after a few hours... sometimes it crashes immediately after turning it on from cold start!
i'm having some trouble with my screen resolution . i set it at (800x600) cause i'm using a 51 inch big screen hd tv. it go's full screen but then for no reason it puts the bars back on the sides of the screen. i checked and it still reads (800x600) and i can't get it to change back to full screen until i reboot. works fine in vista . i'm not seeing anything about drivers failing so i'm not sure what's happening.
Primary: Samsung Syncmaster 19 Inch widesreen 1400 * 900 Secondary: LG E2541 25 Inch Widescreen 1980 * 1080 OS: Windows 7 64bit VideoCard: Nvidia Geforce 560 Ti
I use my primary mostly for browsing, msn, music players, Ventrilo etc etc,I want to use my secondary Monitor for gaming Watching Videos. However, when i want to use something Full screen on my secondary monitor it goes full screen on the primary monitor. I cant also run it in windowed mode and stretch it out to full screen, it does not allow me to do that, it goes back to the size of my primary Monitor.
Ps.I want this since i play mostly with fullscreen borderless or in windowed mode so i can still browse the internet or adjust music/ventrillo settings. I dont want to have an Taskbar below the game, so thats why i need it on the Second Monitor.
no matter what i'm viewing, be it a video on Internet/dailymotion/vimeo/wherever or anything on vlc, the second i go full screen i notice horizontal screen tearing across the entire screen. i managed to lessen it to an extent on vlc by switching to directx output, but it still pops up on Internet videos etc.have also just started to notice it on non full screen videos.if it makes a difference it's around 2/3 of the way up the screen on online vids and 90% of the way up on vlc.i know this problem is going to be hard to pinpoint since it could be any number of things, but i have the feeling this is all because i have a setting too high/low somewhere.
If I click on the maximize window, I will get the full screen that I want but the half screen will reappear in later use (during the same online session).
alright so just recently my screen has been dimming when i stream videos(south park studios, Internet). i have my laptop screen set to dim after three minutes of being inactive, but i thought watching videos was an active process. after five minutes my laptop screen turns off, which is how i have it set for inactive use.
i'm using an hp dv7t laptop with windows 7 ultimate 64-bit installed.
maybe this isn't a problem with windows, but a problem with the browser i am using? i'm using the latest version of firefox.
When I hit the F11 key on one of the computers at work it will not go full screen whereas the others will - I have checked all the setting and everything seems to be the same on them - boss said he accidentally hit something in the upper right hand corner and since then it won't do it - not sure what he hit but he needs full screen
have a problem with IE not opening in full screen.I have been up on other site and tried every suggestion I have found but still about half my pages open full page and half don't.I can't believe MS hasn't put out a fix to this problem - any suggestions?
I recently updated my os to win 7 in my sony laptop(vgn-cs17g). I have loaded a 64bit version and i have a problem finding the nvidia drivers.
i have another problem also when i play a game the sides of the screen ar black i mean i am not able to get the full screen mode...even the drives in the sony website ar not upto the mark..
It started when I left a game running in full screen and my laptop went to sleep mode.Every time I want to start a game now it doesn't stretch full screen. It just stays centered with a big black frame around it.
Lots of little programs out there that will keep a selected windown on top of all other open windows but they only work in windowed mode. Not a single one I've tried works over a full screen app.I'm running Flight Simulator X on two monitors. To play multiplayer, I need a small utility that I need to see almost all the time. I could run in windowed mode, but that causes other visual problems and makes my second monitor almost useless.
My laptop graphic card is ATI mobility radeon HD3650, the resolution of LCD is 1280*800, recently I installed windows 7(7100), and the latest display driver ATI catalyst 9.4 for Windows 7(downloaded from AMD.com).The issue is that my games such as War3 cannot be displayed in full screen. Black rim revolves around the game frame.
I know there is a function about stretching to fit the screen in Catalyst contrl center. But it does not work.
I'm smoke testing Windows 7 for my company and we've had user request to use the magnifier functionality. He is using an HP Elitebook 4880 laptop and leveraging the Architecture Aero theme, however I cannot get the magnifier to allow me use any view option other than "Docked". This system is completely compatible with Windows 7, but nothing I've done to date will allow me to select Full Screen (appears grayed out).
guys im experiencing a very frustating problem...everytime i open games or apps it is not in full screen mode and it flickers when i click...i already updated the drivers for my video card...i experienced this after uninstalling RegistryEasy
just installed Windows 7 pro, but i'm getting frustrated with tring to drag the windows to full screen, i used to do this by dragging to full screen, refresh, then close by pressing the top left of the page. the windows stayed thats size for good.
but when i try it now, i drag to the top and it goes full screen, i refresh, close but the windows goes back to a letterbox size.
I just got a new laptop which has Windows 7 and I'm a little annoyed because I can't figure things out as well as I could before. I have a nice little habit of using the screen to multitask with about 3 individual windows open but when I try to drag the windows to the corners to maximize space it goes full screen. I don't want it to go full screen! What can I do?
was wondering if any one could help im running winows7 ultimate x64 on a 42 inch hdmi to dvi tv and cannot get full screen mode on my desktop unless i have just finished playing a game in the 1920 x1080 resolution then when i finish the game its in full screen mode.and after i restart my comp it goes back to having the black rim around the screen.
I run Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro in VirtualBox and it will not go full screen. I used to use Parallels, but Windows 7 was like Molasses in the Arctic. So I switched to VB because my friend suggested it. Now it will not go full screen (for me, 1680x1050). I either get a box in the middle of my screen or I can't see the taskbar.
Is there a way to force Windows to a certain resolution?
Is there any way to maximize wmc and not have it go full screen?
I.e. when I click the maximize button, it goes to full screen mode - is this normal behavior? I just want it to maximize like any other app would (not cover the task bar and still have the title bar at the top).
