View 1 Replies View RelatedBecause I was having a problem with my Verizon email which comes thru Windows Live Mail, I called a Verizon tech. He did not fix the problem I had, but in the process of trying he changed something so that now there is a security symbol on my Windows Live Mail icon and when I try to open it as usual, I get the box which asks "Do you want this to make changes to your computer?" I have to click "yes" to open my mail! I need to know how to get it off the Windows Live Mail only, so I don't want to change the security setting overall. I just want to get it off, so my Windows Live Mail opens up without it as it did since I bought my laptop which is a Dell running Windows 7.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI clicked and updated Firefox a couple of times, and I still get Firefox 6.0 update notice every week. In downloads, I found these:
Firefox 5.0b7.setup.
Firefox-7.0a2.enus.win32,installer.exe.
And in uninstall or change a program;
Mozilla Firefox 6.0(x86 en-us),
Do I need to reinstall it?
I'm running IE 9.0.8112.16421 and today I saw something I've never seen before. The notice read:IE has closed this webpage to help protect your computer. A malfunctioning or malicious add-on has IE to close this webpage. What you can do is: Go to your homepage; Try to return to the page you were viewing; More Info.
I chose More Info and saw this: Data Execution Prevention detected an add-on trying to use system memory incorrectly. This can be caused by a malfunctioning or a malicious add-on.
I opened IE and checked the currently loaded add-ons.The list follows:
ShockwaveFlash Object.
Windows Live ID Sign-in Helper
ie Spell and Options
Lexmark Toolbar: Listed twice, once as the Toolbar and next as the helper
Java Plug-In SSV Helper
Java Plug-In 2SSV Helper
RoboForm Toolbar and Toolbar Helper
Simple Adblock Class
WOT (Web Of Trust) and it's Helper
Other than running IE wihout any add-ons and adding them back one at a time, is there a less tedious way of finding the guilty one? Could that notice have been a one-time occurrance? Has anyone ever seen the same notice?
I am running Windows 7 32bit on Biostar TH67B mobo. I have a 1 tb E: drive and a 500 gb drive split into two partitions C: and D:, one of which is 30 gigs C: that I keep my operating system on. I have this partition set up for os use only, and have directed everything else to my E: drive. This setup was working well, but I noticed that my installed games and some other programs were still directing their saves and other info to my C: documents folder and that partition was filling up fast. Seemed simple enough to just windows point these programs to use the documents folder on my E: drive. After doing that, everything continued to work well. Until I rebooted the pc. Now, I'm getting "Access violation at address 00404BFE in module 'BiosNotice.exe'. Read of address 00000000." I wasn't able to find anything about what this error means other than to just set the program to not run on startup. Which imo, hides the problem, not fixing it.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI don't want anything too crazy, just something I can take with me on my IT jobs...
I've narrowed it down to these two...
AMD - Asus X5 Laptop - Laptops at Ebuyer
and
Intel - Asus X5DIJ Laptop - Laptops at Ebuyer
The main differences from what I can see is. The Intel has the extra gig of RAM but the AMD has the better graphics chip.
I do not know how the CPU's compare.
I would be ever so grateful for some good advice.
Recently my computer has been crashing an awful lot. I am just doing a task and, usually if it does, it will cut to black. The computer doesn't make any noise and I have to restart it. Sometimes it will freeze on the screen, once it actually cut to a completely white screen.I always thought this was because I was using Google Chrome, it always seemed to be whilst that was loaded. However now its happening without that. Also, Firefox has become completely disabled, I click on the icon and nothing happens. So, I have no idea why this is happening! It's very worrying as I am starting a new year at college next week. I have run several anti-virus checks, SpyBot checks, that sort of thing.

I purchased a Asus n53s laptop a couple of days ago and since today when i downloaded some stuff every time i open up my downloads folder or c drive in my computer the explorer.exe crashes and restarts. I cant get into these folders which is very frustrating and even more so that I've barely had the laptop 2 days and its already got problems! (Knew i should of gone with mac ). Ive tried right clicking on C drive and selecting properties to check the drive but the explorer.exe just restarts every time i do too. I running windows 7.

So i thought id put it on my desktop, which, is much more powerful, just to see what certain areas (where on a netbook it goes slow) are like, but what continuously happens, is it freezes, no warning, for those of you familiar with the band Muse, i played stockholm syndrome, to see how long it would last, and it lasts about 3 minutes,

I decide that a system restore is my only option, So I go with that Right, So my Brand-Spanking New Copy Of Halo 2 Arrives. Boy am I excited, I suspect that after MS Shut down Original XBL, The PC Community will recive a much needed Boost. I don't activate my copy yet, I just want to play some campaign First. I load up the armory, And just as you get out of the tram-thing with johnson, I hear Lots of Sound Glitches, And the same thing as before. It does it a few more times. Then I played some DiRT 2 about 20 minute's ago, It it does the same thing. Now, I suspect It's only Games For Windows LIVE (GFWL) Games doing it, But then I remember that CoD4 did it. Now I'm afraid that if I play anymore games, And do this too much, That I will Seriously Screw My computer.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn a brave attempt to put together my new computer, my new machine keeps constantly freezing up. The event mostly occurs when i open a webpage that might have embedded video. When the machine freezes up, I need to do a hard boot. I have tried running the Asus diagnostic tools, but no real results. I have even tried the various memory tests, however no resolve. One other step that I have taken was also to replace my grahics card from a AMD Sapphire to a NVDIA GeForce GTX 690.

I have an annoying problem with Windows Explorer (not IE) which keeps crashing for no apparent reason. It usually restarts OK but is nonetheless very annying and when it happens it then seems more likely to re-occur more frequently in the same session. It happened on two previous installations but the first time I ended up with a Fresh windows install but it takes me days to get the computer back to my normal working arrangment. I have improved this by moving C: onto a 128GB SSD but unfortunately I lost the last back up that I had prior to the problem developing, so restoring from back up not likely to help as the fault will likely still be in the back up. The other previous time it happened was a couple of years ago and then I replaced two hard drives, SATA cables and the Motherboard (most people pointed to a fault with HD's or the SATA controller)

For about 4 months, I have been using the RC version of Windows 7 and until now, I have never encountered any problems and enjoyed it so much, it now is my OS.
That is, until recently it started to crash... What happens every time I boot my PC is that Windows freezes up, yet the current window will keep on working just fine. In fact, I am writing this while the rest of my pc is frozen solid. This happens every time, probably within 30-60 seconds of getting to my desktop.
The only way out I figured is Ctrl alt delete, from where logging off and on has the same effect as rebooting. The task manager freezes up as well.
I used Google and search, and found a ton of people with problems with Windows 7, only no one seemed to have the same issues as me.
I get an error that says, "has stopped working" then it closes the window and reopens back to the same page. This happens at least once every five mins and with both chrome and IE. I've tried all the different things floating around the web on how to fix this and nothing works.
Its not a connectivity problem as uTorrent is constantly seeding in the back ground.
I've disabled all add-ons as well as disabling all start up services.
i dont know what mom is doing to my computer, but she pressed a button so it turned on today(its on sleep) She claims it wouldn't shut down so now I just turned on my monitor moved the mouse and it automatically says windows needs to shut down because of in 5 minutes it restarted twice.
