Asus DVD Or Samsung CD Driver Errors

I use an Intel D845 main board with an Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHz and 2 Gigs of RAM for testing. If I remember correctly I and run XP PRO then Vista Business 32 with no problems. Now I have Windows 7 beta and I cannot use my Asus DVD or Samsung CD, they show in hardware manager with driver errors but if I try to update my drivers Win 7 tells me I have the latest drives installed.

Okay so now I want to try Windows RC, I boot from DVD no problem except it cannot find any hard drive to install to. I think the problem is cause by the fact that the hard drive is SATA and the DVD/CD is IDE. Is there a work around for this?

Win 7 X64 Asus Laptop DVD/CD Driver Problem
When I installed Win 7 clean, everything was fine for a couple of days. Then I noticed I had lost support for the Tosiba HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20L ATA which I used to install Windows. Now my CD doesn't even show up; trouble shooter says it can't install since the registry entry doesn't agree...huh???

I tried copying the cdrom.sys from my Vista 64 to Win 7 64 and tried to get it to use that, but no avail.

Anybody ever had this problem? I went back to my Vista 64 and the CD drive works fine.

Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe Mobo CD/DVD Drive Driver Issue
I've been trying to install the RC1 version and get the message shown in the title after the install starts. I have searched the forums and have tried the various suggestions: downloading and reburning the iso image at least 5 times, at different speeds and on different media, limiting the boot device options.

I use ImgBurn  to burn the image and the verify of the disk shows no errors. I have tried booting from either of the LiteOn SATA Drives in the system I am running an Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe mobo with 2G of ram and an AMD X2 5600+, 3x500G and 1 TB SATA HDs.

I also have XP Pro installed on the machine, but have a 50G clean partition to install the Win 7 into.  I have also tried downloading the drivers from Asus as well as Nvidia and letting the installer search for and find the driver.  A driver is found, but a message that no new device is found when selecting that driver.

The same thing happens on my Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe system (AMD X2 4800+ with 2G).  I suspect the downloads may be corrupted.  But as other posts have indicated this is (probably) not a driver issue. Does anyone know what the size of the iso download file(s) should be.

Mine shows: 7100.0.090421-1700_x86fre_client_en-us_retail_ultimate-grc1culfrer_en_dvd.iso 2,097,152 KB for the 32 bit version and 7100.0.090421-1700_x64fre_client_en-us_retail_ultimate-grc1culxfrer_en_dvd.iso 2,097,152 KB for the 64 bit version.

In some forums it was indicated the 64 bit version should be larger.  Both are identical in my case.  I am wondering if the TimeWarner has a max limit on d/l file size. Any help would be appreciated.  It sure would be nice if MS included a check sum check on the download images as part of the downloads.

Other freeware people have done this for downloads of around 200MB.  For a 2GB download I would the think the chance of corruption is significanly larger for this size download.

Samsung DVD/CD Burner Burning Failed
I had a fairly new Samsung DVD/CD burner which would read under Windows 7 but burning failed in all apps after I upgraded from Vista.  No new firmware.  I decided to replace it with newer drive but it did the same thing.   Since the DVD was the only thing attached to a Marvell SATA RAID controller I went searching for new drivers for the SATA controller.

Sure enough they just published one and now everything is working.  Of course I have a perfectly working drive sitting on the shelf but at least I can burn.

Samsung External DVD Won't Work
I did install win7 from a USB-stick following instructions on a forum, formatting this and making it bootable with all tools from the Win-7 DVD and it worked great.

But now I did get me an external DVD burner (Samsung SE S084) and would love to use it. If I plug it into my old XP notebook, it works without installing any drivers. So does it when I boot the Linux partition on my netbook, I can boot from it too,

But it just won't show in the explorer when I plug it in the netbook and boot Win7. It is shown in the device manager, it has CD.sys as driver and is reported as working fine (I don't really agree on that;-) Driver update is grayed out.

So, what can I do, besides switching to Ubuntu, to start using my DVD?

System Imaging Fails In Win 7 - Verification Always Finds Errors In DVD After Writing
Since I'm not finding anyone having this problem on my internet searches, I'm wondering if it's just my computer or if not many people are doing the system imaging yet in Windows 7. I'm on a Dell Vostro 1720 laptop with Windows 7 Pro.All my attempts at creating a system image to DVD have failed when the program (build into windows 7) verifies the write.

I always get the error message that verification found errors on the DVD and it can't be used. All I seem to be making are "coasters" Gr-r-r! Does anyone have a solution for me? The DVD drive works perfectly for creating anything else. It's just a problem with the system imaging software...

Samsung Monitor Driver
I've had an ongoing problem with this for some time now. You can see here that my Device Manager tells me that I'm missing a video controller, and also in that post is my inability to watch full screen videos online. Here, I talk about the problems I've had with my display driver crashing.

Now, yesterday I downloaded Photoshop, and as it opened, a window popped up saying that my "monitor Profile" is defective and needs to be calibrated (See first attachment). If I choose to Ignore Profile, I can use Photoshop as usual, but everything I export has an irremovable yellow tinge. If I choose to Use Anyway, there is no white in Photoshop's color pallet, only the same yellowish color.

This got me thinking for the first time that my monitor was the cause of my problems, so I searched online for Samsung 2243swx drivers. On their webpage, they had up for download only one driver, which is for a VGA graphics card (See second attachment). I've been running a PCI graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS), and I was wondering if this could be the problem.

Would you say I ought to buy a VGA graphics card?

Samsung Ml-1640 Driver Issue
Recently I installed windows 7 in my system upgrading from vista. Both are 32 bit. My Samsung ml 1640 is not recognized by OS. When I downloaded the Windows 7 drivers from Samsung site the file ml-1640_32bit.exe, installed the smart panel but stops at 75 per cent with the message, "You have no permission to change the settings for this printer. To change settings contact your system administrator." I ran the file as an administrator. I even turned off the UAC. But the drivers won't install.

Samsung Ml-2510 Printer Driver
I have a Samsung ML-2510 that I recently purchased and I can not get it to work with Windows 7.  I have tried the xp driver and the Vista driver running in vista compatibility mode as an administrator and have had no success.  The reason I bought this printer was because my older hp deskjet 3745 would not work with Windows 7 and it had no vista driver so I ran it in compatibility mode and it also did not work.  Both these printers work fine in xp mode.  I would like help with the samsung primarily but also with the hp.

HP Firebird 802 Driver Errors
I currently have the SLI/Chipset/Video drivers running but when I try to install the High Definition Audio/Graphic/Chipset updates (or driver downloads from HP), I get this error:

Code: Your system does not meet the minimum requirements for this update. Update has been cancelled. (9998) As for now, I have enough running on my system to be happy with the install. But I would like to have the ability to use the high def audio etc., that are meant for the system.

I've tried everything within Windows 7; safe-mode, compatibility mode, updated driver from device manager, windows update.... everything. Anybody have any insight?

ASUS Laptop A6Vc CD/DVD Drivers Missing
Had a similar error "required CD/DVD drivers missing"when installing to a separate partition (besides XP Professional) on my ASUS laptop A6Vc. Really annoying. Upon reboot of the machine, I got this message "errors found, please run chkdsk".

Which I did on the next boot while adding parameter /F. After that exercise I rebooted again from W7 disk and installation smooth as a whistle. Probably just being lucky but it's worth the try. - after initial W7 installation and error, reboot Vista/XP (I assume you try to set-up a dual boot) - cmd - chkdsk /f and reinstall W7

ASUS DRW-1608P2S DVD Writer Problem
I have installed Windows Home Premium. Device Manager sees my ASUS DRW-1608P2S DVD-RW, but it does not appear in My Computer and is therefore not accessible. Everything was OK before in Windows 7 RC. The ASUS now appears in Device Manager with a small exclamation mark with yellow background next to it.

When I click on 'driver', I get he message 'Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)." The only driver listed is cdrom.sys in system32drivers. I have uninstalled the device, and Windows has found it again, but says it could not find drivers for the device. This is strange, because no special drivers were needed for this DVD RW in Windows 7 RC.

When I try to upgrade the firmware, (as administrator, in XP compatibility mode etc etc) I get the message "available target is not found". Yet the DVD RW DOES appear in Device Manager, so Windows 7 at least knows of its existence. Any help would be appreciated, as everything else here is fine on this upgraded system.

PS The closest I got to a solution on looking around was advice to make some registry changes, but this was for Vista and XP only. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
