Access Denied - SD/MMC Card Reader

I have a problem with my card reader. I have a S260(MS-1012) from MSI and it's integrated card reader (a Ricoh Bay1 Controller).

It doesn't work well. Windows 7 install it and "Equipo" (i'm spanish, in english "Computer"?) recognize it. But when i try to open my sd card it says "Acess Denied". The same if i try to open it from command.

PD: I try with different sd cards and mmc cards. I reinstalled the drivers from my drivers CD (from windows xp but work well in 7).

Ricoh SD/MMC Card Reader
on my laptop (ASUS Z91N), I've got one left driver issue: the integrated memory card reader.

It's called Ricoh SD/MMC controller, the latest driver having the best behavior found is 2003-10-20 (1.4.2.9) from ASUS website for WinXP. All other drivers found does nothing, they install but when I plug the card, nothing appears in "My computer".

The problem is that when I plug a SD card, windows detects it, assigns a letter, but I am unable to open to look at the files. I get "Access denied" every time.

When I try to format, it does it with the good size detected! I tested by looking with another computer.

So, this problem is weird, I never had any issue similar to that in the past.

Anybody here having the same problem?

Access Is Denied - Cannot Access Shared Drives
I haven't really had any issues since I first installed Windows 7 and now I'm trying to access a shared drive over a network and I'm getting this annoying error message that I cannot access a shared drive over the network.

I decided to reinstall Windows 7 and before that I never had this issue.

I have not installed any third party software, I've enabled network discovery and right now I cannot access any shared folders or drives, at all, though it can see it.

I'm getting that stupid error message: "<Network drive> is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of the server to find out if you have access permissions. Access is denied."

What am I doing wrong here?

Access Denied To C: Drive
Ok, I insalled windows 7 RC1 (7100) on one of my Vista machines afer backing it up. The install went fine, and everything worked ! The lot. Brilliant. A few days later, I was experimenting with the network types on my Wifi connection. I cant remember if I changed from home to office, or from office to home type network. And that was it !

I kept getting messages says the administrator has restricted access to my C: Drive. I was in the admin account, and I certainly hadn't ! Nothing would recover this. System restore would not run.

Logging out, and back in under another Admin enabled account didnt work either. ____, I couldn't even open an explorer window. The install was totally crippled.  I have restored back to Vista for now. Has anyone got any idea how to recover from this should it happen again ?

Oh, and remote RDP to a windows 2000 server from windows 7 is broken, it runs over 30% CPU constantly and bogs the machine down (1.6 intel dual core 945 express chipset).

Denied Access To Drive C:
I think my problem is related to the homegroup thing. The first thing I noticed is that Mc Afee would not load on reboot.I got an error message that the application could not load and to reinstall it. I don't think I will be able to install anything since the machine took away my administrator rights and I can't even reset anything on the security tab as suggested on this thread.

Short of restoring or uninstalling windows 7,what can i do?

Constant Access Denied Messages
Is there anyway to tone down the access permissions in windows 7? it is driving me crazy.  I just installed a 3D engine called panda- something that took me minutes to get running on XP and linux.  Unfortunately I can not run the samples via the command line using "python filename".Â

I have taken ownership of the folder, gone through all the security/privacy options but am still getting "python: cannot open file 'filename': [Errno 13]: permission denied.  It seems every day I am running into these sorts of problems which I never saw on XP.

How can I solve this problem (I am assuming it is a security issue with python so maybe I should direct this question to a python forum too?

And how can I have a more usable system that doesn't take all these extra steps to get simple things done inside windows 7?

Access Is Denied When Trying To Install Any Driver
Upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 RC and seem to be unable to install any drivers.

Standard drivers such as graphics, audio etc were already installed after the upgrade but additional devices such as an Ipod and digital camera will not install

I plug them in and Windows does a standard search for the driver on the internet and then complains that it cant find it. When I look in device manager it states 'Access is Denied'.

I am logged in with the Administrator account

This happens for anything i plug in USB related so far and have also tried manual driver installs from the product vendors websites to no avail.

Error Offline: Access Is Denied
When I try to access a share where only part of the network resources is selected to be available offline I get an "access is denied" error.

It seems as though this is a problem from Vista (see Article ID: 957772).  It tried the hotfix there but it does not seem to be compatible with 7.

I am running Windows 7 X64 .

Access Denied - Networking With Vista
Windows 7 desktop (computer A) *Home Premium

Vista desktop (computer B)

Need step by step outlined / understanding how to get windows 7 to not only see but connect to Vista desktop.

note1: both computers are on same work-group (MSHOME).

note2: attempted from either station to connect A -> B or B -> A and was

unsuccessful each time (access denied).

There appears to be some permission issues preventing this from working. I need to understand how to be at root (top) level to allow for steps you outline to work.

**Please don't spare any details in describing how this can work.

Access To Partition Denied After Install
I installed windows 7, on the first boot I could access my D drive which is the drive that contains all media, files, resumes, etc etc etc. Windows 7 itself is on the C drive. I rebooted, and I open up 'computer' and now the D drive just says 'D: (Spare) NTFS' if I try to open or browse it says 'Access Denied' in a pop up window.

If I try to change the drive letter in disc management; 'Virtual Disk Manager: The parameter is incorrect'.

If I right click the drive and access security it says I don't have permission to view security and that I should try to take ownership. If I try to take ownership; 'access denied' Windows 7 literally stole all of my stuff. I suspect it's still in there but I cannot access it. The windows vista I installed on that drive as a work around incase I needed to grab drives and 7 couldn't get online, loads from that inaccessible drive, but cannot browse it. So i know it's intact and has the files on it.

Is there a way to brute force my way into it. it's my stuff and I want it.

I've been looking for how to fix this for around 16 hours now and have only found half tutorials and convoluted nonsense. how do i get access to my drive without formatting? I'm on the verge of turning into one of those people who just goes around spamming fbombs everywhere. I'm at my limit of sanity and patience with this. there was no reason for windows to lock it away from me in the first place.

Access Denied Boot.ini
Ok, I have XP and Win 7 setup in dual boot mode, but I can't run XP because (I am pretty sure) the boot.ini file I have in Win 7 now is pointing to the wrong disk and partition for the location of XP. So I wanted to edit the boot.ini file and change the numbers so that it would point to the correct one. But when I go to save changes I keep getting "Access Denied" message. I have admin privileges, so I don't understand why it won't let me write to it. Is there a security setting I need to change so that I can edit this file?

Access Denied Message On Offline Files
The environment:- Windows Server 2003 R2 with AD- User shares with full access to the AD-user and administrators, share rights and folder/files rights+- Computer running fresh installation of Windows 7 Pro, configured as domain member computer- Domain user with connected user share from above server- This user as administrator rights on the local computer- One folder of the user share should be offline availableThe problem:- When I try to make the folder offline available, there are many error messages "Access denied"-

When I try to write a new file (for example a new Word-document), in some folder of the share which is offline available, I can not write (Access denied)- If I stop the offline functions for this folder, I can write to any folder without any problems!- I tried this with several domain users on the local computer, the problem is machine specific On others computers running Windows 7 I can not replicate this problem.I cleared the CSC-cache several times, stopped and started again off line functions .... I tried everything again with and without file compression ....

To prevent any questions about the rights of the shares or folders for the users: Yes, the current user has write permission (i changed anyway to full access) on the share and on ALL folders and files as well, at the same time the user is owner of his share and the containing folders/files.The same user doesnt have this problems with the same computer running Windows XP before Any suggestions?

Access Denied To Cookies, Docs Settings, Etc
I had this nightmare with Vista, but it was easy to fix. Just take ownership. But a scan shows I have many tracking cookies, but Win 7 won't let me access it. Denied. I clicked the 'turn off password' thing, but still cannot access docs and settings, cookies, and many other useful folders.

Very annoying, since I am the only user and logged on.

Outlook Data File Access Denied
I am running fully patched Win 7 RTM & Outlook 2007.  When I tried to attach my outlook data file of archived posts I get: File access is denied.  You do not have permission required to access the file: <archive file name on Windows 2003 R2 server>.pst.  I looked at the permissions of the file and it said I had Modify etc, so I changed it to Full Control and still get the access denied error.  The pst file is on a Windows 2003 R2 server, when I copied it to the C: drive, it connected just fine.

Adding Driver To Win 7 Image Access Denied
I am trying to build an image using the installation media of Windows 7 Enterprise x86. when trying to use DISM to add a driver to the offline and mounted image the command returns an Access Denied.Access Denied to what?I looked at the DISM and INF logs in the image and the build computer respectively but i couldn't see anything that made sense to me as to what the problem may be.

I rerun the DISM /add-driver command with the /forceunsigned extension but the result was the same: Access Denied!finally in a fit of exasperation i fresh installed the image and manually installed the driver that the DISM tool won't install and the driver worked fine.no driver signing issues, nothing.
