64-bit Drivers For A Built-in Camera On A Sony Laptop
I am looking for a 64-bit driver for the built-in Camera on a VGN-FZ145E Sony Laptop. When windows 7 64-bit Ultimate was done installing on the computer the driver that it installed was a Microsoft driver and the device is called usb camera or something to that effect. I am aware that Sony does not have 64-bit drivers on their site for the laptop for Vista. Does anyone know of a third party driver that might work.

Sony Digital Camera Drivers
Has anyone found any drivers that will work with slightly older Sony digital cameras , like the DSC-S30 and DSC-F505 ? The Win XP USB driver from Sony will not work , even after Win 7 tries to install using recommended settings .

Generic Drivers For Built In For Laptop Card Readers
If you have a laptop and have a problem getting the built in SD / MMC card reader to work then I've found the "generic" one from the Twinhead german site does OK. For X-64 use the Vista driver. Expanding the zip file will give you the 32 and 64 bit drivers. The most "Generic" drivers seem to come from the F11Y laptop series but choose from other models if this doesn't work. Most of these drivers are pretty "Generic" so should work with a huge amount of hardware irrespective of your actual model. HP/DELL/COMPAQ owners are usually pretty lucky as the manufacturers sites are pretty OK. It's when you buy essentially an unknown brand of laptop where you can't find the "manufacturers" site as the laptop is badged under a different name. From the link just click on the Notebook model and get the drivers. No stupid registration or "Let's scan your computer to see what driver you need" -- and then you are re-directed to a PAY service or more adware nonsense -- I HATE those sites --what if I'm using a different computer to get the driver than the one I install it on.

Sony Vaio Driver For Motion Eye Camera And SD Reader
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ31Z. I installed Windows RC without thinking about that I will loose my Vista Version. As I have no CD. Even when I have the Product Key. So actually I am happy with Windows 7 but I cant re-install the drivers for my SD Card Reader and Motion Eye Webcam. When I try to install it then it tells me that there ist no Vista on my PC. Whats true. But I thought its compatible. How can I install them? What else can I do? Is there a possibility to get my Vista back? Without a CD? I have the Product Key on the Back of the Laptop.

Dell E6400 Laptop USB (Built-In) Webcam Problem
After searching the web and this forum for some answers I realized there are many many problems with USB Webcams from different manufacturers. (please see the link below). My PC is fairly new Dell E6400 Laptop (Duo II with 4GB of RAM and nVidia video card with 256MB) with integrated Creative Webcam and despite all my efforts, installing different drivers in different compatiibility modes including the one released by Dell/Creative only few weeks ago - my webcam does not work. The driver is installed and the device is being reported by Device Manager as working properly yet none of the applications such as Windows Live Messenger not Skype can utilize the video stream, reporting inability to connect to webcam and that a "different application is utilizing camera". Since I found threads regarding many different webcam vendors (including MS), PC configurations and drivers involved I suspect that this is an issue with Windows 7 itself and not the webcams nor their drivers. BTW. My webcam was properly working under Vista 64 i.e. before the upgrade to Win7 RC (7100). I am frsustrated that there is no release regarding this issue anb no available solution / fix to the problem. What is going on?

Developer Drivers Vs Microsoft Built In Drivers
Whats the recommended installation procedure for installing drivers for specific hardware from a developers site or using the windows 7 default drivers? For example when I install my windows 7 x64 Betas it found and installed the drivers for my chipset and everything fine. However browsing my Motherboard manufactures website I see they Drivers for chipset, audio, and other components I can download. Would you recommend I stick with Microsoft drivers or use the drivers on the developers site?

Sony Vaio VGN-FW31M Laptop Dvd Driver Issue
I upgraded my Sony vaio VGN-FW31M laptop from windows vista home premium (32 bit) to Windows 7 ulitmate (32 Bit), after a few days of all working i noticed an issue with my cd/dvd drive. For some reason it disappears, it even diappears from device manager. I have checked it in bios and it sees the hardware as ok, when i can see the drive i have used the windows tools to do diagnostics on the driver incase its faulty hardware (laptop is only 6 months old) and it says the drive is working fine. I have uninstalled the driver and when i reboot it the driver re-installs but the issue persists. I have tried deleting the upperfilter and lowerfilter from regedit but its made no difference either. I found this info on the net, im at te end of the road now and im completely out of ideas. Can anyone help? I dont believe this to be hardware either as it plays dvd,s for 5 minutes before disappearing again.

Acer Laptop Get An Upgrade From 32-bit To 64-bit
I’ve recently bought a new Acer laptop with Windows Vista 32-bit preinstalled. Unfortunately, Acer then only provides you with the 32-bit upgrade-version of Windows 7, even though the laptop is capable of running the 64-bit version. Is it possible to get an upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit, or do you have to buy the entire program then?

Laptop Overheats On 64-bit, But Ok On 32-bit
a while back I switched from 64-bit to 32-bit due to one thing: OVER-HEATING! When I had 64-bit, my laptop overheated and kept on shutting its self down, even after watching a 10-minute youtube video. I searched EVERYWHERE to figure out WTF is wrong with my laptop. First I thought I had faulty hardware, installed windows 7 32-bit on another volume and it never overheated, not even after playing GTA IV for 3 hours (Dident even get hot) but in 64-bit it takes less than 5 minutes for GTA IV to over-heat my computer, WTF is up with that? Then I thought it was drivers - Went on AMDS site and downloaded every driver: Graphics card, CPU exc. No luck! So I finally switched to 32-bit..But see, GTA IV runs even worse. 64-bit: 30-35 FPS 32-bit: around 20-25FPS My specs: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core processor @ 2.0ghz ATI Radeon 3100 HD 256MB dedicated/ 1.2GB shared 3GB SDRAM @ 800mhz (But in bios I took off 1GB shared RAM so then I had 4GB of RAM on windows 7 as 526MB is ENOUGH!!!) 320GB hard drive Also, I bought a cooling pad thinking that would help. Still overheated, but got an extra few minutes watching youtube.

Getting Win 7 64-bit On A Laptop That Already Has 32-bit
the laptop i will be getting has 3gb's of ram, so naturally it has 32-bit windows 7. but i wanted to add 2gb's more ram, but if it has 7 32-bit, it won't recognize the other 2gb's. I have heard that i would need to do a clean install, back up my files, and then reinstall my apps. How can I do this, and is there anyone who can help me? Like, maybe the Geek Squad from Bestbuy. Could they do it?

New Laptop With 32 Bit, Change To 64 Bit
Friend has purchased an hp laptop with Windows 7 Home premium (32 bit). If I lend him my Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) disk can he change to a 64 bit install of Windows 7 Home Premium? Evidently he will need to use the key on the sticker underneath his laptop. We both realise it will need to be a clean/custom install. I guess I'm asking this, Do windows 7 and vista share the same approach with disks and keys: There are two disks: 32 bit and 64 bit. There are nine major keys available: Home premium (Retail/Upgrade/OEM), Pro (Retail/Upgrade/OEM), Ultimate (Retail/Upgrade/OEM) Retail allows the transfer of licenses. Upgrade is a 'discount' license for people who have XP or Vista or a lower version of Windows 7. OEM does not allow for transfer of licenses. I'd be particularly grateful to hear responses from people who have managed this (on windows 7).

Sony Vaio Nvidia Drivers
How I installed the latest Nvidia M 186.81 notebook driver to my Sony Vaio VGN-AR51E laptop. Sony is supposed to supply the drivers but they don't for some reason. The latest laptop drivers from Nvidia work if you alter two lines of information in the appropriate inf file before executing. I downloaded the latest driver from Nvidia (186.81) and ran it so it unpacked into a folder in my C drive. [Message box says it won't install]. From Control panel I got my driver hardware ID Control panel / Device manager / Display adapters / Properties / Details / Device description/ PCIVEN_10DE&DEV_0426&SUBSYS_9016104D&REV_A1 PCIVEN_10DE&DEV_0426&SUBSYS_9016104D PCIVEN_10DE&DEV_0426&CC_030000 PCIVEN_10DE&DEV_0426&CC_0300 (You just need the second line here) Then I opened up the Nvidia driver package and altered NVDM.inf file, in the Display folder, by adding two lines to include my hardware ID (as you scroll down the inf file and study, you will see where these go, in two different list sections) %NVIDIA_DEV.0426.01% = Section005, PCIVEN_10DE&DEV_0426&SUBSYS_9016104D NVIDIA_DEV.0426.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT (Sony Vaio AR51E)" I included my ID also in ListDevices.txt in the NVDM.inf section and in modes.txt (but may be superfluous - I am no expert!) Also I put the two lines in the NVAM.inf (but may be superfluous) Don't forget to save all. I deleted the old Nvidia driver rebooted and ran setup on the new Nvidia driver! It worked!! Hope this helps you. PYL
