2-3 Secs Random Freeze, Language Bar Issue

I'm experiencing a strange problem.

Windows 7 hangs up for 2-3 seconds every 20-30 secs. This started to occur three/four weeks ago. Interestingly this behaviour occurs after I leave the PC unattended for 4-5 hours. If I reboot it's gone (for 4-5 hours). When it freezes and I am writing in that very moment in a textfield, word or whatever, it remembers the keystrokes.

However, Internet Explorer hangs, Outlook hangs, Explorer freezes, firefox freezes, I can't even open the control panel during that time (the start menu is mysteriously working). Freezing meaning: opening menus, selecting buttons not possible or sometimes the application turns white (Not responding behaviour).

If I monitor performance with resource monitor, neither CPU nor disk nor network shows activity. I do not even see any anormal activities in the eventlog. I saw some more activity of the Windows Search Host recently.

Disabling Language Bar Via Registry
Because my locale is Portugal, the language bar appears on the taskbar. This is something my enterprise didn't want, so I needed to disable it for all user.

For this to work you'll need to:

.: Navigate to [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftCTFLangBar]

.: If LangBar key doesn’t exist, create it

.: Inside LangBar create a new DWORD called “ShowStatus"

.: Set the ShowStatus value to 3

Of course that to apply this to all users, you should create a script (ex.: vbscript) loading the Default User hive.

Random System Freeze Up
Just recently installed Windows 7 x64 RC1 (Build 7100) on my HP DV6000 notebook, it has core2duo and integrated video card, etc.

The main issue I am having is that, everything works just fine (even faster than vista sometimes, which originally came with my notebook), but randomly, the system will stop responding (everything about it, the system will even stop sending data packets out over wireless or lan), and the harddrive light will lit up (not blinking just constant lit).

The mouse usually can be moved about but it cannot be used to click anything. After a few minutes the system will go back to normal. This is absolutely horrible when I am playing a game, as I would have to keep my fingers on the keyboard just incase the game would "defrost" suddenly.

The same issue also happened when I install the 32bit of Windows 7 rc1 on the same notebook. However this is not happening on my P4 notebook (IBM R40) so I can only assume that this is a hardware issue. But I have no references/parameters on how to trouble-shoot this. Anyone got a clue?

64bit Random Freeze
I have just installed windows 7 64bit hope premium. It just randomly freezes from time to time. I can't find any specific reason. I thought it was pfc.sys so i deleted and and have claimed my optical drives back. I looked in event log it was showing error with firefox so i uninstalled firefox.

Event log was also showing error with nvidia driver so i updated the driver and it's not showing that error anymore. Now in the event log there are no errors and no warnings but my computer still randomly freezes from time to time.

Installation Freeze At Load Progress Bar Booting From Disk
I have a desktop machine, it is used to run Windows XP pro, I installed XP on this machine many times, no problem at all. Recently when I tried to install Win 7 on it, the computer reads the disk and freeze at the loading progress bar before the installation screen shows up. I have tried different build of Win 7 I got, also the Vista disk from MSDN.

They all have the same issue. But with the same disks I tried on a HP notebook with P4 CPU, 2GB ram, X600 and IDE hard drive, it's all fine. The spec of my desktop is AMD 3800+ ASUS M2N 2 * 1G DDR2 450W PSU ASUS 7900GS Seagate SATA 320G(primary parition 40G) + SATA 1T+ IDE 200G a Dell 30inch and 20inch attached to the machine.

Could anyone help me about this issue, please? If I can't solve it, I won't be able to use Win 7 or Vista at all in the future.

Random Freeze Internet Explorer
My windows 7 randomly freezes. For example, if I stay on a page on internet explorer for a few minutes, then go to click on another tab or on an icon down bottom to switch to a different program like chrome or the button to go to the desktop it freezes up.

The only solution I have found is to hit ctrl-alt-delete click anywhere the hit start task manager. Then it unfreezes and works fine. Has anyone else had any simular issues or know how to fix this issue.

To keep from getting the same question asked over and over I am running a 3.4 gig P4 processor with 3 gigs of memory.

Memory Issue / Random Freeze
Win7 64 bits freezes with 2x2GB, but works with 2GB. The freeze occurs randomly (between 5 min and some hours after rebooting), is sudden, everything in the screen is stopped, no BSOD, no event log (except afterwards that detects the unproper shutdown).

I tried dual channel and single channel mode, to no avail.

With 2GB, I have been running for almost a week, no matter which of the two memory sticks I plug in, so apparently both of them are working properly.

The motherboard has 4 DDR2 banks, I have tried almost every combination: A1-A2 (dual channel, reccomended setting), A1-B2 (single), B1-B2 (dual on secondary banks).

My specs are at the left, but most notably it is Kingston memory and the motherboard is ASUS P5KC.

Random / Frequent Freeze / Lockup / Hanging Pc
When using my PC (Windows 7 RC) for desktop work or playing games (e.g. World of Warcraft) my PC will eventually lockup. The mouse and keyboard are unresponsive and the PC never manages to get going again (even after a few hours).

I suspect my motherboard's built-in Wi-fi is the problem (very hard getting drivers to install under compatability mode and then setup correctly). My PC has many relatively recent / current components, and is incredibly stable under Win XP. Are any particular components known to be incompatible with Win 7?

No Program Bar
Interesting error.  When I get up in the morning I discover the windows bar at the bottom will not show. Once I bring up the task manager via ctrl-alt-del, then close it out, the bar will show again with no further problems.  This is a consistent error.  I do not let the computer go to sleep.  This is Version 6.1.7100 Build 7100 however I have seen this happening since I loaded Windows 7 a week ago.

Explorer 8 Status Bar
I was trying to find out the meaning of the messages that appear on the lower left of the Internet Explorer 8 windows (in the status bar). I was visiting a site (pcguide.com) and I got a weird icon in that spot. I am worried I might have picked up a nasty bug from that site, because I had a hard time closing it (windows kept popping up).

Difference Between Language
Does anybody here was able to see the difference between a Windows 7 installation disk in another language than English and a Windows 7 installed in English + a language pack (MUI)?

Personally, I don't see any. But I think my MUI (French) is still incomplete because there is some places in Windows which are still in English.

Note: The question is valid for any language.

Boot Screens - Vista Bar
I have installed 7 on my desktop. When i boot i get that new funky glowing logo. which is nice.

Now, when i install it on my acer one netbook i get the old drab vista bar.

Now would i be right in assuming that its something to do with the graphics card on the machines? If not can anyone point me in the right direction. Its not a problem to me im just curious as to why its done that.

How Can I Place New Programs On The Start Bar ?
I'm trying to figure this out. I use programs that are not on my local disc, but on a network, on windows servers. I created a shortcut and placed it on my desktop, but now I wan't to have those next to the start button.

I am unable to drag them to there, because a red symbol shows up that contains a round and a line through it. When I open the program i normally see "Pin to start menu", but not with this. It only gives me the option to close it.

Title Bar Positioned Off The Screen
When using multiple monitors, I often get problems with windows being positioned such that the title bar is off the top of the screen so you can't drag the window back in to play. I've used multiple monitors on many different PCs since 1999 and always had this problem - though it definitely seems to be exacerbated now by the fact that I hibernate the laptop when moving it between home and work, and my secondary monitors at home and work are different resolutions.
