This driver responded slower than expected to the resume request while servicing this device:

All In One USB 2.0 Card Reader No Drivers?
im running an evga sli 58x, and windows 7 64bit 7077 i have the RC1 version of windows 7 but i hate to install that and as i have all my games and everything id have to reinstall with it(major pain) plus im not even sure if that would fix my problem anyways when i plug my card reader in i can't access it at all, it does show up in device manager but it says drivers not installed. I don't think they make this card reader anymore and there would be drivers floating around for a card reader, so what are my choices?

USB All In 1 Mini Card Reader
I bought this Generic USB All in 1 Mini Card Reader off eBay (Some Cheap chinese thing) It worked fine on my previous setup, Windows Vista x64, and it still works on my fathers computer, Vista x64 I believe. But When I try to connect it to my current Windows 7 x64 install, it justs gives me an I/O device error, I think it might have something to do with the Device driver for Win 7 It might not be compatible, I don't know just thought somebody might have an idea if I can get it to work in Windows 7.

Shuttle Card Reader PC 23 (USB) - Error Code 10
I have tried several times to use my Shuttle Card Reader (PC23) that is connected to my mainbord on a free internal extended USB connector. Error message : Error Code 10 - can`t use device. If I insert a SD Card in the SD slot on the Card Reader, and use the hardware trobleschooting in Windows 7 RC : Win 7 can reconise the SD Card and I can use it, but only during the session. Next time i start the system I have the same error as before. For this 4 in one Card Reader there is no Driver for Win XP or Vista nesesary, so i think there normally no driver needed for Windows 7 RC either.Â

Broadcom USB Smart Card Reader Not Working
After upgrading my Vista Business SP2 (32-bit) to Windows 7 Ultimate RC (32-bit) my Broadcom USB smart card reader does not work any longer (Dell Latitude E6400 with built in smart card reader). The newest available driver from dell support was already tested (Broadcom, driver date 09/23/2008, version 1.0.0.1, digitally signed WHQL, released by dell in March 09), but the device can not start (Error code 10) with Windows 7. With the Microsoft WUDF Driver (Usbccid, driver date 06/21/2006, version 6.1.7100.0) the device starts but whenever I insert my smart card an additional device is detected (other device - smart card) but no driver found - Error message is: The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28). What else can I try to get this reader working again (with vista sp2 the smart card reader was working fine with the broadcom driver)?

Dell USB Card Reader Not Working Properly
I have a Dell XPS Studio 435T that was running Vista Home Prem. 64 bit. My card readers were labeled G:, H:, I:, and J: and were there when I got the machine. C: and D: are the Dell Vista Home Prem. 64 bit OS and the Dell Restore partition, E: and F: are my DVD drives. These drives always appear. The system was built early May and was the A07 BIOS. When I needed to read an SD card, I plugged the card into the proper slot, nothing happened? Discovered the drive was NOT on Explorer nor COMPUTER desktop icon when double clicked. I have a Canon printer with card slots, put the card in the printer after I turned it on and I can read the card, so it isn't the card (unless the 435T's slot can't read 8GB SD cards). I don't get any errors when starting the system and nothing apparent in the Event Viewer. I called Dell figuring they'd be aware of this problem and have a suggestion. Wrong, they claim it isn't a common problem and is either a h/w problem or I 'did something' to the system that caused this. Suggested fix was to restore the system to the shipped state and I was not too happy about that. The Rep. then agreed to get on my system and look at it. I showed him the drives and the Device Manager that had an 'Unknown Device' and that it had no driver. I showed him that when I tried to update the drive it said I had the correct driver. I deleted that device and then had Device Manager search for changes and it found the same 'Unknown Device'. Now the Rep. thought I had a driver problem and proceeded to re-load the Intel Chipset drivers. I think I did replace those with more recent ones, but I let him. It installed INSTANTLY and the rep. said it meant I had the drivers installed... Checked the drives again, not there. Next step as for me to shut-off the system and restart into the BIOS screen and RESET the BIOS to the factory default. OK, but when the system booted, didn't do anything for the problem. Now the Rep. asked if I could open the case and check the cables to the reader bar. This was after he came back on-line after checking what to do next. By this time I decided I wanted to try something, I have a USB single card reader. I put the SD card into it and inserted it into the card readers USB connector. It found the device, although it didn't assign a drive? Put that same device into the USB connectors behind it and it had the same results but the Rep. was now convinced I had power to the card reader and wouldn't need to open the case. I then used a real USB Flash drive, put that in the card bar and it worked and could be read (and the Rep. wanted to connect and open the flash drive to be sure, which I allowed). So, the Rep. wants to REPLACE the h/w. From the reports I've seen, this is a waste of time. His response was he's never seen other reports of this failure and my only other choice is to restore Vista to the shipped state. So I OK'ed the h/w replacement. I know I've seen the drives as recently as 2 weeks ago. I was surprised one day when I opened Explorer and saw additional drives and then determined they were the card slots. As suddenly as they appeared, a few days later they were gone. Dell eventually replaced the device, cable from motherboard to it, and even the motherboard. In all cases, replacing that component had the card slots reappear on boot, only to disappear sometime later. This had been ongoing since July when I first discovered the problem. Only after I installed Win7 was the true problem discovered. I had a random BSOD under Vista with DVD Flick. Not often, but it happened. All I had to do was re-boot and it worked fine. Assumed it was a memory problem. After installing Win7 and booting after a BSOD from DVD Flick Win7 reported a USB device was not working properly and showed a list of USB devices. The suggestion, unplug and re-plug the device and if it didn't fix it, replace the device. Well, looking in Explorer, the card slots were gone. Unplugged the cable and put them back in (case had to be opened to do this) and booted, problem was gone. I've since removed DVD Flick and the problem has not come back. So, the question is why wasn't the USB port working properly? I assume an initialization problem, and I see a HOTFIX was just released for Nvidia systems with 4GB's of memory and USB devices stop working so I wonder if the USB drivers could be at fault here?

Installation Failed When Internal Card Reader Was Connected To USB Connector
I tried to install Windows 7 on a computer where the internal card reader was connected to the USB connector on the MB. This lead to an error message like "Windows could not terminate the system configuration..... please reboot. This message came up after each new reboot. Even boot in safe mode didn't change anything. I deleted the HDD completely and disconnected the card reader and restarted the installation. Then it worked fine. The problem came probably from the drive letter. The 2 DVD drives were now D: and E:. At the first installation D: to G: was taken by the card reader and the DVD drives got I: and J:Maybe this information will help others with the same problem.

Driver For UPEK Biometric Device Fingerprint Reader
I've got a Dell XPS M1330 notebook with integrated UPEK biometric fingerprint reader. The device itself is working fine, however the driver setup I've got at the moment isn't ideal. I can either use the driver provided by Windows Update, and this allows Windows to recognise the biometric device and I can use the Windows fingerprint logion functionality, but this is all. What I really want to do is use UPEKs' Protector Suite QL to enable the use of the biometric device to login to websites etc. If I use the driver provided by Windows Update, Protector Suite QL doesn't recognise the fingerprint reader installed. If I use the UPEK driver that allows the Protector Suite to work, Windows doesn't find any biometric devices installed - I can't find a suitable driver where both Windows AND Protector Suite QL recognise the biometric device. Has anyone a solution or a similar problem? I would like Windows to recognise the device to use the Windows biometric login, and Protector Suite QL to recognise he device to use the biometric website login. Alternatively I'd be happy not to use Protector Suite QL at all if there is a way to use the biometric device to login to websites native in Windows.

Icons In Device Manager Issue After Installation Of USB Device Drivers
We had a (small) issue when installing our USB device driver on Windows 7 RC. I downloaded the newest WDK, created and signed with Authenticode a new cat file including the new OS, and built a simple installer for installing the drivers. We used the recommended functions like CryptCATAdminAcquireContext, CryptCATAdminAddCatalog, CryptCATAdminReleaseCatalogContext and CryptCATAdminReleaseContext as well as SetupCopyOEMInf. We created a new device class and therefore the drivers appeared in the device manager as "unknown devices". We added the registry keys for displaying the mini icon for "USB devices". This worked pretty well on Vista64. Using the same installer script on Windows 7 (64-bit) still showed the "unknown devices" in the device manager. As we have to prepare now our installers to be compatible with Windows 7 and we need to know if this is a bug or if there exists a workaround.

I have tried with several types, and none of them are visible in either My Computer or Disk Management.

Ricoh SD/MMC Card Reader
on my laptop (ASUS Z91N), I've got one left driver issue: the integrated memory card reader. It's called Ricoh SD/MMC controller, the latest driver having the best behavior found is 2003-10-20 (1.4.2.9) from ASUS website for WinXP. All other drivers found does nothing, they install but when I plug the card, nothing appears in "My computer". The problem is that when I plug a SD card, windows detects it, assigns a letter, but I am unable to open to look at the files. I get "Access denied" every time. When I try to format, it does it with the good size detected! I tested by looking with another computer. So, this problem is weird, I never had any issue similar to that in the past. Anybody here having the same problem?

Memory Card Reader Problems
Are there any known compatibility problems with memory card readers? While running Win 7 Beta, my SD card reader worked fine. Since installing RC, it does not. The system detects that a card is inserted into the slot and demands a format. After trying to format the device I get an error message that Windows was unable to perform the format (no, the card is not write protected). I've tried several SD cards (2 2-gig and a 4 gig) and none work, although they do work (without a format) in other devices, such as a digital camera. So either I have a hardware problem with the card reader (always possible, but it's only 6 months old) or there's a problem with Windows 7 RC reading and writing to the card. Device Manager says the device is there and working correctly.

Realtek Card Reader Not Recognized
I've got an Acer 5735z laptop with a Realtek card reader, it was working fine under vista. I loaded up Windows 7 on a fresh install and all was well. I noticed it had install a generic driver for the card reader, so i updated the driver with the correct version from Acer. This was couple weeks ago and everything seemed fine until today, when I noticed the laptop now doesnt recognise the card reader. It doesnt even show up as an unknown device in device manager, it like it doesnt exsit. Ive downloaded the recent drivers for vista/windows7 to no avail. I've also tried unstalling the Intel usb contollers and even going back to the original version of the drivers again to no avail... the only thing i can think of is reverting back to the generic drivers supplied with Windows7, but i dont know where there located on the disk or on microsoft.

Smart Card Reader Issues
This is the only major showstopper for me in using Seven 95% ActivIdentity USB Reader V2 ActiveClient 6.1 Both work fine in Vista 64 on the same box in dual boot. In Vista the driver used is the generic MS usbccid.sys driver version 6.0.6001.18000 dated 6/1/2006 In Seven there are 4 MS drivers all version 6.1.7000.0 dated 6/21/2006: - scfilter.sys - WUDFUsbccidDriver.dll - winusb.sys - WUDFRd.sys In Device Manager status I get the "This device Cannot Start. (code 10)" message. If I uninstall the device and plug it back in I can see that Windows sees an ActivCard USB reader V2 (shows up in "Other Devices" while drivers are trying to install) but the install fails for the Microsoft Usbccid smartcard Reader (WUDF). I have tried the latest drivers to no avail.

Or is this just pipe dreams, and only the preserve of unix based systems?

After RAM Addition Wireless Card Stops Working
I ran into an odd issue today and was wondering if anyone else has found a solution to it. I recently installed 2 2GB RAM sticks into the laptop I am testing the Windows 7 RC on and, when I booted up, two odd things happened: First, the more severe issue, is that the Netgear WG511v2 card I had been using in the laptop ceased functioning. It shows up in Device Manager with a Code 10 start error and doesn't seem to want to be fixed. If I revert to the old sticks of RAM it works perfectly, but as soon as I add either of the new sticks (or both in combination), it stops working. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, tried using the Netgear software, etc all to no avail. The other thing I noticed was that, with BOTH sticks in, on startup the shiney looking windows flag for loading doesn't appear and is instead replaced by the standard loading bar common to XP. The flag comes back so long as I have one of the two older 512MB sticks in. Not really sure why the new RAM would affect either of these two or how to go about fixing them. Both the wireless card and the windows lag worked perfectly in the 7 RC prior to the installation of this new RAM.Â

Dell 2407 Monitor Card Reader
Has anyone gotten a card reader built into a dell monitor to show up in Windows 7? I got any and all updates to Win 7 I could find. I installed the latest Vista chipset drivers for my motherboard, and also tried some drivers from Intel. The Memory card reader just does not show up at all. There is also a memory card reader built into the printer and it works fine. At one point there were Dell SM bus drivers available as an optional update. I tried installing them, but they failed. Now, just yesterday they no longer show up in Windows update.
