Still Won't Keep Parmanently Unchecked

Sep 22, 2009

I uncheck the "Use drop shadows for icon lables on the desktop" and it works, but as soon as the computer has been rebooted the box is checked again and the shadows are back. Vista (Home Premium-32bit) will not keep the setting "unchecked" permanently. I have found on the web various registry settings which people have recommended, and have tried them all but Vista still won't keep it permanently unchecked. Does anyone have any insight to possibly different/additional registry settings which will solve this FLAW in Vista?

Permissions: Relocate Files, Control Checkbox Is Unchecked

Apr 24, 2008

I am getting increasingly frustrated with the pemissions. Last time I asked about this on this NG, I was told that I was probably trying to make a change that I shouldn't make. I was not. I am not now. I own the computer and I am trying to relocate files that I have created myself. The User Accpount Control checkbox is unchecked. I can't believe this restriction exists as default for the ordinary off-the-shelf computer. What can I do? PS On a different - but ultimately related - issue (formatting an external HDD) I have just been told by my computer that I do not have 'sufficient rights' to perform such an operation. What society are we living in, Maoist China, or something.

Security Tab Under Windows Mail And Unchecked Block Images.

Mar 17, 2009

Have to applaud VistaForums and the resource it provides. There are many posts on this and I'm still stumped. Hope someone can assist on this.. Using Windows Mail..I can receive links from others but when I *send* a LINK..(www.yahoo.com' //www.espn.com/), my receipients can not see the site. Neither can I for that matter when I go look at the email I just sent. I'm perplexed by this as I have followed answers in the forumn and clicked default on windows mail and even went to security tab under windows mail and unchecked block images.
