Windows Movie Maker Get General Access Denied Error
Mar 23, 2008When i open the Movie Maker, I get a General Access denied error. How can I solve this to open the Movie Maker?

Windows Movie Maker: Publishing Movie
May 23, 2010When i try to pubish my movie on recommended settings, it works fine and there are no problems but when i try to publish on some of the other settings, it gives me the cannot complete publish movie error.

Oct 11, 2009I cannot publish my movie with windows movie maker, although I cannot detect any problem. All the clips used in the movie are .avi, it is 41 clips in total and the movie length is 2 min 33 sec. When I try to publish the publishing process starts but then cancels and gives me this message: "Windows Movie Maker cannot publish the movie to the specified location. Verify, that the original source files used in your movie are still available, that the publishing location is still available, that there is enough free disk space available, and then try again." Checked all that and that is not the problem! could not find any solutions in the other threads for WMM.

Cannot Use Windows Movie And DVD Maker
May 24, 2008We all know about the "Windows .... has stopped working" then it says something about Data Execution and there is a problem. I cannot import .avi files into movie maker nor can I save files. I can import .wmv files and a few others but I get the error whenever I try to import .avi files. For DVD Maker, everything works fine until I try to burn and encode. It'll remain on "0.0 for encoding" and then the error will come up. It's not just .avi. I can't publish any videos.
I've read everywhere that Nero can cause problems and DivX. I do not have Nero and I have the latest version of DivX which I've uninstalled before. I've also tried removing filters from movie maker's tool options. Nothing has worked.

Jun 27, 2009My not be a problem, just my ignorance. I'm dual booting Vista and Windows 7. I created a 150GB partition on a 1.5TB 2nd drive to install 7. I wanted to shrink that partition to 100GB using Disk Management. It seems like it runs through the process then gives me an Access Denied error. I'm doing this from Vista on the main drive (C). What am I doing wrong or can't I shrink a partition that has an OS present? Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he'll just kill you.

Mar 29, 2008i have a relatively old (but working) movie recorder which records in mp4 format. it plays back fine on my pc (with the klite codec pack installed - otherwise it doesn't) but whenever i try to upload any video to Internet or edit it in movie maker, the picture is mis-aligned. i seem to only get the top left-hand section of the original video. it's like the recording has zoomed to the top left-hand quarter/third - which obviously ruins the recording. the original if fine (i see the whole picture) but whenever i try to do anything with the video, i get this weaird effect.

Jul 4, 2008I have this promblem with one of my projet on Windows Movies Maker. After I am finished with my editing I go to publish my movie. It starts going through the process but on the Publishing progress window, it stops at 98% and just stais there and it never finishes the publishing. Has anyone ever had this problem? Why does it do it? and how can i fix it?

Oct 15, 2009Is approximately 2 minutes long with audio and there are about 20 clips with effects and a few transitions. some of the original avi was uncompressed. all the clips are avi. it got to 62% pretty quick and then the timer started going up. it is now up to 583 minutes since about 4pm yesterday. I know it may take some time but it this normal. I don't want to stop it if it is just compressing. I am outputting avi to 49mb size as i did not want to loose quality. I have a deadline. I'm not getting an error message. The minutes just keep increasing and the progress bar just staying at 62 percent.

Mar 16, 2009I have downloaded on my computer some movies that I would like to burn with WMM. The problem is the following...Some of the movies I have downloaded appear in a folder, inside the folder there is a AVI file. When I import it into WMM, the AVI Movie Logo turns into what looks like a 35mm negative. When I drag it into the video timeline, all is fine and I can burn my dvd. Other movies that I download, also appear with the AVI logo but not in a folder. When I import it into WMM, it remains as the AVI logo and does not turn into the 35mm negative. When I try to drag it into the video timeline, it will not permit me to do so but instead it will go into the Audio/Music timeline. When I do try to burn the dvd, all I get is sound and funky abstract colors on my dvd player. Yet when I open either AVI files with Windows Media Player...there is no problem viewing it from my computer. I am running Windows Vista and I am using DIVX. Can someone please help me as this is driving me crazy?

Apr 14, 2008All the .avi files I have tried to import into Windows Movie Maker have only had the audio, and when I've opened the properties window, it says that they are audio files, even though I imported them as video. Random video clips that came with my computer (.wmv files) work. I know that other people have had to convert their files to .avi files to make them work, but what do you do when it is .avi files that won't work?

Aug 23, 2009My friend with an HP laptop using Vista (version unknown) burned a file named Anniversary Video Final.mswmm onto a DVD_R for me. The file size is 2.89mb (that's mb-not gb). As I expected, my 3 year old Dell running WinXP SP3 won't play the file. The WMM on this machine (v 2.1.4026.4) says the file is not supported. Okay-that's fine...but the XP box could "see" the file. Then I took the disc over to my 1 year old Dell running Vista SP2 (WMM v 6.0.6002.18005). This machine cannot even see the file. I tried typing in the file name and it still won't find it. Yes the drive in the Vista box is a DVD drive-it reads other CDs-DVDs just fine (so far). This same machine while booted in Ubuntu could not read the disc (gave error message "invalid mount option").
Is there any good reason why the XP box could mount the disc and the Vista machine could not? Is it worthwhile to try and burn a copy of the disc on the XP box, or should I ask my friend to burn another disc for me?

The bottom of the screen normally contains the"go"or"do it" button when "publishing" a movie. On my Samsung wide screen monitor that button is BELOW the bottom of my screen. I've tried different screen resolutions. how to make the screen smaller height wise? I have tried to adjust the vertical position of my monitor, but that adjustment only moves the screen a small amount. I am at the max resolution of 1068 x 1050. Other resolution choices seem to drive the bottom of the screen even further down.

Mar 23, 2008I was trying to import some videos I downloaded online and it says,"The file C:UsersRosalieDownloads[DB]_Naruto_Shippuuden_010_[EC7747DE].zip cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again." But, I already installed the DivX codec that the website I downloaded the clip from recommended and I tried restarting WMM.
I know that I did this before on my old computer. I downloaded videos from the same website, and I had to download the DivX codec. Once I downloaded the codec, the files worked, and i was able to download them. Does anyone know why it won't work for me now? Could it have anything to do with the files having been downloaded as zipped folders?

I have created a movie with Movie Maker, and when i try to publish the movie with the default settings, its giving an error message: "Movie Maker can not publish the movie. The source files may not be available, or the disk space is not enouth...". I have my source files in the same path, 50GB of free disk space is there. But its not publishing the movie. But, if i select the third option the select bit rate window ie.AVI-DV in the dropdown list, the publishing is successfull. But the .AVI file created is huge in size. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with movie maker, and why it is not able to publish the movie with default settings.
