View 4 RepliesWhen i used to run XP, downloading a screensaver would usually just add it to my list in the screensaver menu. However, I have not found any way to get screensavers outside of the ones that came with vista to work. No matter where i save them, the desktop, the windows folder, the windows32 folder (where all the other screensaver files are) i can not get anything i download to appear on the list of available screensavers.
Where can I get screensavers that are totally safe and not going to bombard me with a bunch of ads and other things that I don't want. I am particularly interested in one with animals. am willing to pay if it means it is safe.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAbout a year about I posted a detailed article about customizing the new screensavers in Windows Vista that are also included in Windows 7. Since then a Windows developer known as Onmicoder has taken the tweaks a step further and built a GUI around the registry values. Now users that don’t want to modify the registry manually can customize screensavers with just a few clicks.
You can download the utility on NeoWin’s forums here. Once downloaded make sure you run the utility as administrator. It modifies portions of the registry that require administrative rights to make changes.
Clicking screensaver, or any other constituents of Personalization, brings no response. The "hand" icon doesn't do anything regardless of which item it is pointed at. Very frustrating as I particularly seek to review my screensaver choices already installed.
