IDE: DVD Rom Not Operate

Mar 23, 2008

Im building a PC at present which is based on an ASUS motherboard, with a SATA HDD. - everything is working fine and the BIOS recognises everything except my DVD rom. The DVD has power going to it fine and operates fine UNTIL I plug it into the IDE (primary or secondary) when it simply hangs with the power light on permanently and will not even eject the drawer.

Task Scheduler Fails To Operate Before Login

Oct 25, 2008

I have been struggling with the task scheduler since upgrading to Vista. I used to have the XP task scheduler run Realplayer when my PC turned on via the bios RTC each morning, and play BBC Internet Radio. Worked fine, no problems. Vista however simply cannot do it. I have setup the Vista Task Scheduler to run a command line that I know works - I have tried dummy runs of the task scheduler when I have been logged in, and it goes no problem. I have also ticked "Run whether user is logged on or not" and entered my password when prompted.

When I login after Realplayer has failed to launch, the Task Scheduler history tab shows the following:Event 107, Task triggered on scheduler, etc, then above it, Error, event 101, Task Start Failed, Launch Failure. Most interestingly, in the failure details it reads:"Task Scheduler failed to start "Alarm Radio" task for user "ROTOMADave".

Additional Data: Error Value: 2147943726." What I find strange here is why the user is ROTOMADave (ROTOMA being the name of my Workgroup) when the user account is DAVES-DESKTOPDave.Could this be causing the problem, and if so how do I fix it? As an aside, the task will successfully run if I login to my PC before the scheduled task, then logout and wait at the login screen.

Graphics Card Will Operate Aero Machine

Mar 23, 2008

having just upgraded to Vista, I now need to upgrade my Graphics card, so as Windows Aero will work. Now the problem, which one. I only want a standard AGP card that will operate Aero, as I do not use my PC. for games etc. It seems that all of the graphics card advertised, are over spec for my requirements. Is there a standard Generic card that will operate Aero on my machine.

Overclocking Temps: Safe Temp To Operate At And What Is The "danger Level"?

Oct 26, 2009

I'm curious on what temps I should be cautious of reaching? I have a Intel Centrino 2 Duo P7350 2.0GHz. I've overclocked it to 2.4GHz and ran Orthos and about 3-4 minutes I checked HWMonitor. I was reaching temps around 75 Celsius (167 degrees Fahrenheit) on the CPU. So my question is, is that a safe temp to operate at and what is the "danger level" I should be concerned about?
