32 HOME-Premium Downloaded Program Files And IE 8 Wont Opening

i m using vista home premium 32 sp2. Machine! Hp Dv6 Core 2 duo 2.10GHZ -3 GB RAM- 512MB AtI Gaming card. I have got major problems. In Windows/downloaded program files i have got a file which is damaged and when i right clicked on it. only Properties occurs! and that thing i basically got from IE's(Version 8) Tools>Options under the heading of browsing setting> and View Objects. I dont know what is the problem with my IE8 whenever i open Hp's website it wouldnt opened and for other websites it words but for a very few minutes. but after that i get the error that the webpage can't be displayed.
Just for the record I downloaded SP1 and ran it on my Vista Home Premium machine. Went away and had a cuppa. Came back and it was all done and dusted. No problems, no issues, no disasters, no glitches, no crashes, no blue screens, no screaming or gnashing of teeth. What HAVE I done wrong?
Need a good free anti spyware program that runs well with Vista Home Premium. I downloaded the bought version 8.0 and began having problems with the computer lagging, and generally slow all over, not thinking it was AVG, I checked every other possible issue that I thought may be causing it. Eventually it lead to AVG, as things had been good prior to installation. I completely removed AVG and everything returned to normal, great! But then I done a further download of the program again, and once again the problems began. Is there a good alternative Anti Spyware program that is recommended ?

I am using Vista Home Premium SP2 x64 and would like to know. Is there a way to remove all the information under 'properties' in all of my Image/Picture files? I mean date taken, camera used and all that stuff. I tried a solution offered by Doyle Computers for Vista but no luck.
I am having a problem with programs that I have downloaded. I try to open them and I get this statement: This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows installer package.
I downloaded Version 3.01.1 of Firefox from Mozilla in order to replace Version 3.5, which was malfunctioning with graphics problems. However, I could not istall it as I was given the message that the downloaded file was from an Unknown Publisher and that there was no digital signature or that the signature was invalid. It asked me if I wanted to install anyway so I said yes. However it would not execute and said it would notify MSft of the problem.
I've tried downloading other files, Avast for example, and got the same message(s). I went to tools/internet options/Advanced/Security and checked "Allow software to run or install even if the signature is invalid" and unchecked "Check for sinatures on downloaded programs". This didn't work either.
Is there a "real" backup program in 64-bit Vista Home Premium? One where I can select the files and folders important to us? All I can find on this HP computer is a simplistic backup that has me checking boxes for things like "pictures" and "documents." That won't do, as there are other folders with data that require backing up. And, how would I do a disaster recovery backup?
I have Vista Home Premium and Office 2007 Ultimate. Recently, I've noticed that when I go to save a downloaded program, it goes through the motions, then disappears. Also, when I go to save a document in Office 2007, it also goes through the motions, then disappears. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I save a lot of documents in my profession, so I can't afford to not be able to.
I understand this can be done online. The information says that I need the Anytime upgrade disk to complete the process. Is this so? Sorry to be stupid but need to know the steps involved. If I dont have an anytime upgrade disk, how do I get one?
I have Windows Vista Ultimate x64, and it came with 2 set of program files: program files, and program files x86. Since my hard drive is only 100 gigs, I was wondering if I could delete the normal program files and keep the x86 ones, or would that cause problems?
I am using FireFox v 3.0.7 and when ever i download any file the download window show the progress and when it finishes the downloaded file vanishes from that folder
I went from a 2 monitor to 1 monitor setup. Before I made the change, I had the program Ventrilo that would always open on the 2nd monitor. Now that I've only got one monitor, Ventrilo still opens on the now nonexistant monitor which makes it impossible for me to access. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling with no luck. My control panel shows just one monitor, but for some reason whenever I open ventrilo it opens off of my available real estate, in the place where I used to have a 2nd monitor. I do not have access to another monitor to move it over. Any ideas? EDIT: never mind . while farting around i just opened regedit and deleted everything that had ventrilo in the name, reinstalled and got it to open on my 1 and only monitor.
Whenever i download a file, the download bar shows, but after completion i go to open the file, but it shows that it has 0 bytes. I looked online and some people said it was because of my anti virus (AVG) . i recently updated it to ver. 9. I thought it was because i updated it, so i restored my computer to prior the installation (about 2 days). i still get the same problem. Whenever i download a file such as .msi installer, .exe executable, or .zip archive with IE and run it, it crashes (not IE but the file that was downloaded.) This recently started happening on my Home Premium 64-bit Vista installation, and the problem remains after reinstalling Vista two times from scratch. If the file was downloaded on another PC and saved to a flash drive, it runs fine on Vista. I have tried the sfc /scannow command, as well as disabling any firewall, antivirus, etc. and changing the IE settings. This occurs on a clean installation of Windows Vista also. I trying to download this program. When I do it saves it as a EFW file extension. This just started when downloading stuff with this ext. on the end of files. Now I cant open and run nothing. How can I fix this ext. file problem?
A friend of mine has Vista on his 2 home computers. His and his Wife's. They recently rearranged furniture, including the computers. When they plugged them all back in to their router, neither their computers, nor their xbox, could connect to the internet anymore. They called their ISP(Charter Communication) and Charter told them nothing was wrong that their cable modem was showing up fine and seemed to be working just fine. So they had a tech come out to their place and the guy was baffled. He swapped out their cable modem but said nothing was wrong with the old one, he just swapped them to make them feel better I guess. But even the tech guy couldn't understand why they suddendly cannot access the net. Even removing the router from the equation did not help one little bit. A buddy of theirs brought his laptop over to their house and was able to connect to the net through their cable modem so we know the modem is working just fine.
Well, thats when my Brother told them to call me. I did all the basic things you'd expect, starting from scratch. We started with connecting directly to the cable modem and got what I expected, zilch. I checked ipconfig and noticed they had a 169.*.*.* IP on both computers. by the way I'm doing all this long distance since they live several hours away from me. That 169 is wrong, or at least it seems like it to me so I banged away trying to change that with no results. Every change I made reset to 169 instantly. Even a restart didn't help. So I had them plug it into the router and got a normal 192.*.*.* IP. At this point, several hours after we began, I gave up for the time being on that particular problem............
When i try to download files from, for example my hotmail, i always target it for my desktop, to be sure that i can find it again.That just dont work anymore. The files disapears. I have searched for them everywhere, and i can find the shortcuts, but they are just dead ends. A boks is popping up, saying that the shortcut dosent work anymore and that the files they are refering to, are changed ore moved.
When I go to open an attachment, it tells me "The file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel." I have no idea what that means or how to find that control panel.
I've seen this problem posted a number of times, and either there's no fix for it or it was attributed to something that doesn't apply to my situation. Here's the description:
- With Firefox and Google Talk, any downloaded file cannot be opened by the program. - IE8 and Chrome both work, and since I use Chrome for everything, I never noticed the issue in Firefox. File transfer in Google Talk has been screwed since I installed Vista. - It happens when they're run in Administrator Mode as well - The files do not appear in the specified Download directory (my UserDownload folder) - A search shows that the files do not exist -anywhere- on any of my HDs - The files aren't in AppDataTemp either - I do NOT have AVG, nor have I ever had it installed on any of my HDs, ever - The account I use is the original account I created on install, and has Administrator privileges - I have already granted special permissions for all Users to Create/Modify files within the folder - The User folders are not in their original location. They've been moved to a separate HD specifically for Docs/Downloads.
The most common answer I see is "Turn off UAC," but I see that as a last resort and would prefer a different solution. I'm tempted to just switch to 7 today and deal with the RC but I'm wary of the problem not being fixed there either.
I just downloaded some songs and I hit "open" instead of save each time. Now they are all in my temp Internet files. How do I get them to my music files? I tried dragging but its in the worng format and my media player won't play them. I just paid $15 for all these songs and would like to know how to retrieve them!
I cannot unzip downloaded files - these being simple documents or spreadsheets. The zipped folder is displayed and I can choose settings to extract all files but once i browse to the extracted folder it is empty. There are no error messages. I see in my file associations that .zip is not there but have already used the tutorials to restore and re-associate the zip files with the built in utility. The only associations are for .zfsendtotarget and .zipenx. A month or so ago, I got so annoyed with this I installed Winzip but this didn't work either! I'm using Windows Home Premium and IE8.

Create and association in the Set Associations control panel" I have been having a problem with my computer for several days now. Opening all programs causes me to recieve this error message. I have to use right click + Run as Administrator to use any of my programs. I have done some forum surfing and tried several recommended techniques for correcting this problem but to no avail. I downloaded the exefix_vista reg file but the very same problem prevents me from merging it (I even tried fixing the reg extension but that failed aswell). I have run the sfc/scannow in command propmt but that came up empty. I would have fresh installed but I am away from home and do not have the means to reinstall vista. I apologize if this post seems in any way redundant but my forum searches have failed me. HELP! PLEASE!
When I've downloaded files from the net, I choose a directory to save the file but then get error message saying that I don't have permission to save files in that location and to ask the Administrator for permission. I am the Administrator and I have no other users. All the files downloaded go to the Local temp file since I don't have permission.
i installed ultimate 64 bit on my dell 1720. it originally came with like home premium 32 bit. why does it have a program files and program files (x86) folder? i just didn't know why it had both and what this means or doesn't mean.
For a short time I had installed pkzip. It is now uninstalled, but apparantly has left Windows Explorer as the program used to open zip files. When I click on a zip file, Windows explorer opens, closes, opens, closes ad infinitum. Only recourse is to force a reboot.
I would like to change the default opens with ... to something that works. I see that on my XP computer the recommended program for opening zip files is called "Compressed (zip) Folders". I can't find such a program on Vista. Also, the only recommended program showing up on Vista "Open With" is Windows Explorer, which I know is a disaster.I can right-click and select Extract All to work around this problem, but would like to get the Open function working correctly.
